Man if dick jokes are that funny my 14 year old self would have been a laugh riot at Funimation.

I also had a lot of good "gay" jokes in my arsenal too lest you think I'm a one trick pony.

Google Translate is somewhat easier to comprehend compared to this though.

Regarding "OK version" of N-word: I once met a black man who held an administrative position at an on-campus school at a "residential treatment" center for troubled youth. He said that it made him so angry when he heard "young black men" calling each other by "that horrible word." Kind of made me rethink my opinion about it... But generally, despite that, I don't have any "white guilt" about it and I've used it with my black friends when we were doing dumb stuff. And it WOULD be racist of me if I did have white guilt.

You do bring up an interesting point, why were there scripts so bad if they had Simmons as a translator? Were they just not utilizing him?

Yep, that's something I always wondered myself and others have questioned; it's probably that they just weren't utilizing him because he worked on the subtitles for the DVDs, he was there to make sure the fans got the literal translation they wanted, and that was it as far as they were concerned.

Or it's more probable that their terrible writers saw fit to completely rewrite his translations anyway, as FUNi felt what they were already doing (bad jokes and ridiculous\wrong lines be damned) was what "worked". They probably just threw away the free "translations" other than running through them for a few laughs.

Wait, doesn't Steve post here very occasionally? Maybe someone can get him on the proverbial horn (if so: HI DAIMAO)...

This reminds me of the moronic viewers from Big Bang Theory that laugh at Sheldon's mental issues as well as other things that aren't even funny at all.

What? It's so exaggerated that it's played for laughs and not meant to be taken seriously. No need to knock us.

Yeah. To this day I still see people around the internet proclaim that all dubs suck, except for DBZ's...

I mean, yeah, opinions and everything, and I still watch the English dubs once in a while for nostalgia, but I imagine even most of DBZ's English dub fans find that to be quite the statement.

..but most of these bloopers were from the recent dub of DBZ Kai, which most of us here regard as a good dub over the original dub.

People goof around whether they make good work or not, so nothing's changed in that regard, they just became better dubbers/writers/actors/etc since the DBZ era.

This is brilliant. It's the kind of rigid, literal translations that you'd get from Google Translate. As if Toei would even provide something like that! It seems odd that they wouldn't have hired a native English speaker to check these things before sending them out.

Interestingly enough, this might explain some of the more lurid bits of dialogue in AB's Big Green movie dubs, as the Philippine-based studio may have based their scripts off provided translations from Toei.

I'm pretty sure most of the dialogue for the Big Green movies were adapted from AB's very own French scripts.
