Re: dinosaurs
I always liked that one theory that I-forget-who (sorry!) thought up about someone long ago using the db's to wish for dinosaurs being why they exist in present day db world.
Re: opening recap
This is the one thing where I was like "No!! They're wasting that valuable time with a recap when it's been reanimated dozens of times already!" Made me sad.
Also, anytime they reanimate stuff we've seen before I'm reminded of what FMA Brotherhood is, what Sailor Moon Crystal may be, and what Kai isn't.

Looks like the DVD of BoG is available in Argentina now.
http://www.anmtvla.com/2014/03/argentin ... la-de.html
I bet everybody in Latin America feels cheated in not getting those new extended scenes.

The DVD comes with a mini-poster and some Extras like the movie trailers, photo gallery, TV spot, and greetings from the Latin Amercian dub actors of Goku and Vegeta.

Ι don't buy this. I can't buy this because it doesn't make sense. If Kaio could do this, why didn't he recreate his planet when Beerus destroyed it? Or why did he recreate the planet in its small size instead of its original? It makes much more sense for Goku to have wished it back with the Dragon Balls as a "thank you" present. Besides, Kaio tells that the planet is small because Beerus destroyed it, not because he chose to recreate his planet as it was when Beerus destroyed it.Kaboom wrote:Kaio more than likely just had the ability to recreate his planet all along, and perhaps only chose to do once Goku returned to life after dealing with Majin Boo.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Perhaps he can only remake a "planet" around that size? I mean it seems he did it the first time when the initial planet was destroyed.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:Ι don't buy this. But he says that the planet is that small because Beerus destroyed it, meaning that it's not a new planet, it's the same old planet we first saw in Saiyan arc. And since it was completely destroyed in Cell arc, the only way for the planet to be back is by being restored, and, correct me if I'm wrong, the DBs are the only things that can restore planets.Big Momma wrote:Perhaps he can only remake a "planet" around that size? The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Going to tread lightly here...I know where to get the movie with the extended scenes. Pm me. that is all!
Edit - I actually have to go down the road with a friend because his grandmother is in the hospital and he needs a ride. but when I get back if anyone is still needing this just shoot me a Pm and when I get back I'll give it to ya.
Also I'm not trying to break the rules here. I'm just trying to help you guys out. I supported the official release and I hope you all will do the same.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
On the whole "Beerus made the dinosaurs extinct" thing. Anyone else find it funny that Goku flies past one later on in the film?
"Couple" of other quick notes:
- Little disappointed that there weren't more scenes of the fight in space. I guess they wanted to keep all of it in the theatrical cut of the film.
- Anyone else find the Whis and 18 scene a little...disruptive. Especially since Whis ends up in space without us seeing him go there, anyway. In fact, I think I prefer Goku and Beerus' fight on Earth a lot more in the theatrical cut of the film. There's a lot more intensity to it, because the whole thing just coasts along without interruption.
- It's amazing how much more awkward the original film seems now. Just little scenes of characters moving to different places, minor interactions. The film feels like so much more of a finished product now.
- Was it just me, or were some of the older lines re-recorded? A few lines seemed to go by a lot faster.
- Anyone else feel like they cut out a few scenes from the theatrical cut? This is just the vibe I got when I was viewing it. I know some scenes were switched out for others, like Goku lying on the ground talking was swapped for Bubbles, um, reaching into Goku's pants.
- It honestly didn't feel like the movie ran for 100+ minutes. Probably because there were so many ad breaks. I still feel like BOG doesn't really warrant a run-time that long.
- I thought it was incredibly awkward in how they had to lengthen some of the music. Sometimes, certain parts of pieces were looping for a fair amount of time. I noticed a couple of new compositions too.
- What was the scene of everyone applauding Vegeta about? Dende had a lengthy bit of a dialogue there.
- So, am I correct in assuming that these scenes were included in the storyboard phase of the film, but they didn't have time to animate them all into the movie before it came out? Because from the Tweets I read, it sounds like these scenes were animated fairly recently. I definitely know the dialogue was only recorded, like, a month or so ago.
- There were a couple of scenes where I really would've liked subtitles, but a lot of the gags still worked without them
- I actually found a lot of jokes funny this time around. As Hujio said on Twitter, a lot of the gag scenes seems less forced now- which is something I had a massive problem with in the "original" film.
- The 'HERO' scene is still fuckin' awesome.
Really enjoyed this viewing of the movie. I almost feel like I have a new found appreciation for the film. This version was definitely a lot better, and I'm not just saying that because these scenes are new; I genuinely feel that, altogether, those little inserts made this a better movie. I know I'm gonna see BOG very differently whenever I watch it on DVD now...I hope I don't get into the habit of pointing at the screen and yelling every time there's an awkward cut. kinda cringe at the thought that we may never see these on a home release. C'mon, this is clearly "The way it was meant to be seeeeeeen!!!"
Phew, feels like I've just seen the film for the first time. Very refreshing to watch this version of the movie...and speaking of refreshing, roll on Dragon Ball Kai!!

The recap got Goku and Freeza's beam clash wrong. It's really jarring.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
Yes. Hosoda Masahiro chose which scenes to prioritize and had them sent off to animators to animate. The idea was to keep the film around eighty-five (or I suspect ninety) minutes.DragonBoxZTheMovies wrote: - So, am I correct in assuming that these scenes were included in the storyboard phase of the film, but they didn't have time to animate them all into the movie before it came out? For a more thorough understanding of the process in which animation is created, I highly suggest giving this and this a gander. The latter link has some information not contained in the former.

Everyone was talking about needing pure-hearted Saiyan in order to trigger the transformation into Super Saiyan God. When Vegeta protests, saying that he's not pure-hearted the way the others are, someone (Bulma, maybe?) mentions that he counts as pure-hearted because he hasn't actually done anything bad in a while. Everyone applauds Vegeta for becoming a good guy.DragonBoxZTheMovies wrote:- What was the scene of everyone applauding Vegeta about? Dende had a lengthy bit of a dialogue there.

It's a big Toriyama trademark too. Dr. Slump/Pola & Roid/etc have jokes about games of rock-paper-scissors against crabs and other such creatures that can only use "scissors" (or, like in BoG, are incorrectly assumed to only be able to use "scissors").Dogasu wrote:That Beerus vs. Oolong rock paper scissors fight was great.
Edit: Actually, has anyway fully summarized this bit yet? Yamcha's advice to Oolong is that Beerus probably picked him as his rock-paper-scissors opponent because he assumes that, being a pig, Oolong's hands would only be able to form "scissors". But since Oolong is a pig-man, he has human hands and can actually use all three. Since Beerus expects Oolong to use "scissors" and will therefore obviously use "rock", if Oolong instead uses "paper" he'll be sure to win. So Oolong uses "paper"...and Beerus uses "scissors", telling everyone that he overheard their little strategy session.

Agreed, so great. XD Thank you for the translation. A bit more on the rock-paper-scissors scene, since there seems to be some misunderstanding about this on Twitter: the point of the game is that Beerus is giving everyone one last chance to save Earth. If they beat him at rock-paper-scissors, he'll just leave, but if he wins he'll destroy Earth after all. It's not about whether or not Beerus will eat Oolong. Beerus does say Oolong looks tasty and Oolong thinks he's going to get eaten, but that's it.

Giving Oolong a spotlight there actually makes him appearing at the end there to chastise Gokû for spying instead of helping work better too.
