How can you judge the colors? It's a recording of the promo being played back on a tv...

That's totally fair, it probably will look a little different when we get an official video. To me though, it looks like the pastel color scheme from the previous chunk of Kai is gone.qjz123 wrote: How can you judge the colors? It's a recording of the promo being played back on a tv...

The Buu arc in general was a little brighter than the rest of Dragonball, though - don't you think?Tanooki Kuribo wrote:That's totally fair, it probably will look a little different when we get an official video. According to a post on 2ch, a TV magazine says that episode 3 is about Gohan teaching Videl how to fly and Tenkaichi-Budokai begins on episode 4.

Glad to hear that, already sounds like a decent amount of filler got axed. How many episodes do you think there may be in the end?kei17 wrote:According to a post on 2ch, a TV magazine says that episode 3 is about Gohan teaching Videl how to fly and Tenkaichi-Budokai begins on episode 4.

We already kind of know that there's going to be 66 as per comments Sabat made before he decided to feign innocence.SSJ4 Furanki wrote:Glad to hear that, already sounds like a decent amount of filler got axed. Re: Buu Saga Kai
Well it's the only figure we've been given, and from an official source too - so I have no reason to doubt it. It would represent a square 25% reduction in episodes, which may seem a little paltry in comparison to Kai's original run, but there's a lot of padding in the Buu arc that is really sort of essential to make the show a watchable spectacle. The pacing of the manga towards the end can be pretty crazy and whistle-stop, such as the section with 'Ultimate Gohan' and the multiple forms of Buu. If you tried to depict that on-screen exactly as it happens on the paper, you'd cover the whole thing in 2 episodes - which would be dizzying.sintzu wrote:That's a little much don't you think ?
Also - keep in mind we're talking about Toei here, a company who notoriously likes to milk things for ever penny that they're worth, producing a show that's relatively cheap to put together. It's hard to tell what their plans were for it originally, and whether or not they've changed in light of Toriko's failings - but it's possible that they're either looking to recoup some of the viewing figure losses they encountered with Toriko with Kai, or that they need something fairly lengthy to keep the time-slot warm ahead of their next animated venture based on a serialised manga.
But anyway, if you think about it, 66 episodes makes a lot of sense given the issues with the source material and the present circumstances Toei find themselves in.
Initially, unless you live in Japan - no. But there have been numerous sources of information that have leaked hints that English language home releases are due to start as early as fall this year. It's even possible it'll be broadcasting around the world long before then.JEFFMAN219 wrote:Hey guys will there be a legal way for us to watch the buu saga of Kai??
It's possible, but not yet announced, that Funimation will simulcast it on their website - as they do with their other licenses such as One Piece.

Re: Buu Saga Kai
That is nice to hear. I hope the production team is more creative with their editing this time around, too.kei17 wrote:According to a post on 2ch, a TV magazine says that episode 3 is about Gohan teaching Videl how to fly and Tenkaichi-Budokai begins on episode 4.
Re: Buu Saga Kai
I would judge it will be more or less 50 episodes like the Freezer saga and the Cell saga, especially with that info that Episode 3 = Gohan teaching Videl and Episode 4 = The Tenkaichi Budokai starts.
But we'll see if it does turn out to be 66 episodes, but it seems to be a lot to me because there's not that much to show/extend in the Boo saga.
It's VERY theoritical but IF there are four endings all being singles by various artists, then a single is usually exploited for around three months, meaning around 12 episodes.
So I say close to 48 episodes in total (Cell had 43 episodes if I counted well), but if they drag it, maybe they can go to 54 (I don't see it getting more episodes than the very long Saiyans-Freezer saga).
Only time will tell.

Re: Buu Saga Kai
If they keep doing about two Dragon Ball Z episodes per Dragon Ball Kai episode I would have expected forty-six episodes, which will probably be padded with weeks off for live events.

I'm pretty excited. That's a major cut down. I'm anxious to see how they will handle the Saiyaman stuff considering it played out quite different from the manga.kei17 wrote:According to a post on 2ch, a TV magazine says that episode 3 is about Gohan teaching Videl how to fly and Tenkaichi-Budokai begins on episode 4.

Re: Buu Saga Kai
Noooo! They axed a bunch of Saiyaman stuff!!
Oh well, that was to be expected. However, most of the Buu filler is during the fights themselves, and I agree that if they make them as short and ridiculously fast paced as the manga it'd be over before 20 episodes. So I'm guessing the fight filler stays, which I'm glad about, because some of the best fights in DBZ happen in this arc imo.

Re: Buu Saga Kai
I don't mind if some of the fight filler stays. I think this arc is when filler really did the material a service (Minus the Saiyaman stuff. I won't lie and say that I'm sorry to see most of that go.) That being said, there are still some fights that need to be cut down.garnetjester wrote:So I'm guessing the fight filler stays, which I'm glad about, because some of the best fights in DBZ happen in this arc imo.
