Be prepared for GT logic, such as "hey He absorbs energy, lets fire more beams at him!"

Yeah, albeit the first saga the rest of GT is pretty good. Bebi is probably one of my favorite villains overall in the series.

Super 17 was a bit odd though. Not because of his power or anything. It's just 17 himself wasn't really that much of a villain in Z so making him a main antagonist of a saga was kinda weird.

I think Super 17 is probably the only genuinely bad plot-line on paper in GT.

I mean, the writing in GT is often compared to fan-fiction, but I think Super 17 is the only time is reaches that kind of low. I'm of the opinion that both the Baby and Shadow Dragon plot lines are wonderfully imaginative as general ideas, with their problems being rooted more in the execution than the concept.

You should watch it if you're a fan but it is absolutely dreadful.

Childish, boring, bad designs, annoying characters, the good characters have little screentime, weak plotlines etc.

I wouldent call SSJ4 or Omega Shenron a bad design. Super 17 had a bad design too (thought still a bad character).

Only thing that screams bad design to me in GT is Goten's hair.

Couldn't agree more. I mean, the Baby stuff kind of shifts from one idea to another without much warning in regards to what Baby really is, and kind of lifts it's whole MO wholesale from 'Plan to Destroy All Saiyans', but...even so, it's still more imaginative in it's usage of that material than Super 17 is.

That and I can't help but laugh when they show Dr. Gero and Dr. Myuu standing next to each other. It was already pretty obvious how much Myuu was a re-design of him...and they just throw them together to make it all the more obvious. Oi.

I realize it's a matter of opinion, but what's wrong with Goten's hair? I never really disliked his GT look, at least not compared to Vegeta's lopped-off hairstyle at first.

I dunno...I honestly think I kinda like his GT haircut better. But then again, I'm not much for the shaggy-haired look that Gohan and Yamcha had at some points either, so it's probably just the same here with Goten.

Wait, when was it said Goten was working for a company? I know Trunks was, but Goten I thought all we really knew about him in GT was his running around with the one girl. Been a while since I watched it though.

My mistake, just re-read Young Jijii's AF doujin. Trunks gets Goten a spot in Capsule Corp because Palace's father wont let her daughter marry someone who's not a part of a company.

Ohh, all right. Understandable, I sometimes get things confused now between whether they actually happened in GT, or if it's from Kaboom's fic, heh.

Ι don't have any problem with GT Goten's hairstyle, but these 90s clothes he wears are...

Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

If you have any investment in the overall series (which I'm sure you do since you have an account on this forum) I would say just go for it and watch it!

For me, GT pales in comparison in overall enjoyment when I compare it to DB and DBZ but it's still somewhat enjoyable to watch. And you won't really lose anything by watching it either beyond...precious time I guess.

I personally like Super 17's design since I always like how cool he looks. I think the Shadow Dragon saga is the only saga that feels original and does not feel like a rehash anything from the past. GT rehashing old stuff was one of the biggest things that I did not like GT. SSj4 Goku vs. Bebi Vegeta was pretty much almost a rehash of Saiyan Saga Goku vs. Vegeta.

There definately seems to be a 'GT toned down the badassery' in regard to character designs in the Western fanbase in general.

If I got a penny for every time I heard the words: 'fag', 'pussy' or 'geek' (and other generic homophobic slurs) in regard to the GT designs for Goten, Gohan, Trunks and Vegeta, I'd be incredibly rich.

Really? The character designs are the last thing I've ever focused on.

It's always been a case of the story for me. It really underwhelms me, or at least its execution does.

Here's how I describe each in one word:

Dragon Ball: Adventure
Dragon Ball Z: Battle
Dragon Ball GT: Exploration
Dragon Ball Kai: Conflict

Dragon Ball GT could be not only exploration but also adventure because a lot of the early arcs take bits and pieces from Dragon Ball so if you're going to be watching this series then don't be expecting a lot of fights at the beginning (comes around mid + end), and the animation at times isn't really always great looking but if you're going to see this through Dragon Box GT / GT Singles (but not the Green Bricks 'cause they're blurry) you'll notice that the picture quality has the potential to look gorgeous in HD (if they remaster it in HD for Blu-ray).

The ending of Dragon Ball GT is also my favourite of the entire Dragon Ball series they really nailed it whereas in Z's Son and Oob went to train without wrapping the story up.

P.S.: If you're going to watch Dragon Ball GT then on the Para Para Brothers' episode there'll be a scene which is about a chase and dammit, the animators really repeated a lot of the same sequences (as if going through in loops) this is an episode I don't want to watch ever again.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

I think you should give it a shot. You'll never know if you like it until you try it.

It's hard getting through the first arc of this series much like it was hard getting through the Pilaf saga in Dragon Ball.
