Should I Watch GT?
I finished Z (watched Saiyan - Cell Arcs with Kai; Buu Arc with Z), Movies 1, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 13, 14, and am currently watching DB. I know how the general story goes through the videogames but I've heard people don't like GT anywhere near as much as DB and DBZ. My question is: after I finish DB is GT good enough to watch? Are the fights good and all that other stuff like plot?
p.s. I'm aware of it's contradictions.

Canon is Jaco, Dragon Ball except for EoZ, Dragon Ball Super anime and manga (both are separate canons)

Re: Should I Watch GT?
It's good enough to watch, sure, but just keep your expectations low.
The fights are lower quality (animation, choreography, etc.) and the storylines are very inconsequential.

Re: Should I Watch GT?
I'd definitely recommend giving it at least one watch through to see if it's your cup of tea. There is a lot of good to be found in GT, there really is - it's just coated in bad use of said good material.

It'll bore, entertain and frustrate you in equal measures - but for a Dragonball fan it's certainly worth watching. Some of the ideas in GT could have been great with better execution. I mean, let's be honest - even at it's worst, it's still miles better than the worst Dragonball movies.

I would give it a watch and see if you like it. If you don't get past the Black Star Dragon Ball arc then I don't think you would like the other sagas any better.

Re: Should I Watch GT?
I'll say there's a reason FUNimation skipped the first 16 episodes. If you like your more serious DragonBall, akin to Z, you might as well do that yourself. If you like the comedy of DB, the first arc is worth your time.
I say go for it, but then again, it's been a long time since I've seen the entirety of it myself. It may not hold up as well as I think.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
DBZ had far more contradictions than DBGT due to some of the filler scenes.xmysticgohanx wrote:I finished Z (watched Saiyan - Cell Arcs with Kai), Movies 1, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 13, 14, and am currently watching DB. Re: Should I Watch GT?
GT had some really bad plot holes that made no sense, so I disagree with you. I think you can only enjoy GT if you turn off your brain and ignore everything that happens in the last two shows. I like the Shadow Dragon saga the best, but I agree it could be better. The Black Star Dragon Ball arc and the Super 17 saga are the worst sagas in GT in my opinion. The Bebi saga was okay, but it was better then most of GT in my opinion.
There's also Heroes Legacy which fans seem to like and I like it better then GT. Goku Jr is pretty likeable and is a better version of Goku in school then Goku is in DBE.

Only because it was almost 5 times as long. Pick any 64 episodes of Z, and I can almost guarantee that there will be more plotholes in GT than in those 64 episodes.OWmyDragonBallz wrote:DBZ had far more contradictions than DBGT due to some of the filler scenes.xmysticgohanx wrote:I finished Z (watched Saiyan - Cell Arcs with Kai), Movies 1, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 13, 14, and am currently watching DB. At least watch the Buu Saga before you watch GT

Yeah, you might wanna actually finish Z properly before moving on. GT is worth a watch though, yes.Dbzfan94 wrote:At least watch the Buu Saga before you watch GT

After finishing the original story, yes, you should watch GT. I know it gets a lot of flak but that shouldn't stop you from giving it a shot.

You're not gonna lose anything by watching it, and even if you don't like it you can always just stop.

I find GT good, so I believe that it's worth to watch it. But I'll warn you, the first arc will probably be boring.
I disagree. The first arc was the one of the most boring things in the whole franchise. The rest of GT was far more interesting.Hellspawn28 wrote:If you don't get past the Black Star Dragon Ball arc then I don't think you would like the other sagas any better.

Re: Should I Watch GT?
Well then you should've said that on your post. You said you've only seen Kai Saiyan-Cell sagas then you want to go right to GT. If you indeed have seen the Buu saga (knowing the general story from games doesn't count) then go ahead and watch it.xmysticgohanx wrote:I did watch the Buu saga.
However if you're gonna watch the dub like I do, use the Japanese music. I hated GTs American music, it sounded exactly the same. Atleast Faulconer had a lot of good tracks with variety.

I meant that I watched Saiyan-Cell in Kai form not Z. Should've clarified that I watched the Buu Saga (in Z obv).Dbzfan94 wrote:Well then you should've said that on your post. Re: Should I Watch GT?
It's similar, but worse. The first DB arc was a little boring for me, but it has some of the funniest parts in the franchise. The first arc of GT though lacks that great humor.xmysticgohanx wrote:If it's anything like the first DB arc I probably wouldn't like it that much.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:I find GT good, so I believe that it's worth to watch it. But when they arrive in Planet M2, that's when things gets interesting.

Re: Should I Watch GT?
If you want to watch it for quality entertainment you best not watch it unless you're one of those fans who feel they have to see anything Dragon Ball-related then go right ahead.
