"Jaco the Galactic Patrolman" discussion (incl. "DB Minus")
Re: "Jaco the Galactic Patrolman" discussion (Tankōbon April
I'm intensely curious as to how they're going to portray toddler(child?) Kakarrotto. The concept of baby Gokû hitting his head = losing his memory(also brain damage?) is one thing, but if he's a little kid instead, old enough to have a noticeable personality added in with the possibility of perhaps having at least a mother who may have cared about him could potentially turn the situation tragic in a way, especially because Gokû never recovers any of his memories as Kakarrotto.
I mean, imagine if Gohan in one of the early arcs had an accident and lost his memory (or Trunks, or Goten). It can get pretty heavy.
I'm really not entirely sure what to expect from Minus. Light and gag-filled has been more of his calling card lately, but as to how you juxtapose that up against the setting of Planet Vegeta I don't know.
On a lighter note, I guess this bonus chapter would be abbreviated to, coincidentally, DBM?

I'd prefer DB-. The announcement poster seemed to use the symbol, as in "Dragon Ball -" instead of the word, so that makes more sense to me.Chuquita wrote:On a lighter note, I guess this bonus chapter would be abbreviated to, coincidentally, DBM?

How long did it take Goku to get to Earth? Is it too farfetched to think he may have aged a little on the way?
Also, do any Australian users know how I might get my hands on the new Shonen Jump for this?

He could have, if you only want to count the 11 chapters of Jaco we currently have in combination with the traditionally known history.Kingdom Heartless wrote:How long did it take Goku to get to Earth? Is it too farfetched to think he may have aged a little on the way?
But, as I've been repeating about Toriyama's new continuity, planet Vegeta's destruction has been changed to occur two years later. No date is ever outright mentioned for this change in events, but there is a combination of tidbits that gives us the new date via consulting Battle of Gods and Jaco the Galactic Patrolman (the latter of which was supposed to be released along side the film, if it weren't for Toriyama overworking himself).
Goku's birth year is AGE 737 and he's obviously not a newborn in Jaco. Bluma's birth year is AGE 733 and she's stated to be 5. Omori also tells us, as the narrator, that the story happened 10 years ago from the present time for him, which is right after Bluma begins her journey, but before she meets Goku in AGE 749.
The Chozenshu tell us that Battle of Gods takes place in AGE 778 (which lines up with Videl being pregnant and Pan being born in AGE 779), while the film itself says that Beerus slept for 39 years and that planet Vegeta was destroyed while he was asleep.
749 - 10 = 739
778 - 39 = 739
Couple this with the little preview image of toddler Kakarotto in armor pressing his hand against glass and the confirmation that DB- will take place before he is sent off to Earth, it seems that Goku is now sent off as a ~2 year old Saiyan child in AGE 739 instead of his birth year and aging during his trip.

Re: "Jaco the Galactic Patrolman" discussion (Tankōbon April
I've always wondered why didn't Goku recovered his memories before his accident. It would somewhat interesting to know what would Toriyama's opinion be in that that case if he would decide to give back the lost memories to Goku.

The "Katsura Akira" book cover is finally posted http://books.shueisha.co.jp/CGI/search/ ... 4-7&mode=1 It's a simplified drawing of Jiya's face. Do you think Toriyama drew this one?
Re: "Jaco the Galactic Patrolman" discussion (Tankōbon April
This would also solve the problem of "how do they give babies their mission".
Arguably, a 2 year old might have a easier time with the instruction of "Kill everyone there and we will send someone to get you".
I believe Gine was a caring mother (as Saiyans get). I wonder if she had any qualms in sending lil Kakarot. If that small scene with him and the glass window is just before he is send off... All aboard the Feels train!
In any case, she being kind I'm sure that would be looked down. I imagine Raditz might had even thought she was lame and wanted to be like the rest of the cool and murderous boys.
Now... is it strange that both of Gine's sons survived? Doesn't it looks more than a coincidence this far? Do you think Bardock might have told her to send the kids away just before Freeza came to destroy the planet or something along the lines? I CANT WAIT TO FIND OUT!

Jaco commercial revealing details about Dragon Ball Minus! Kakarotto, Bardock, Gine, Freeza, Raditz, Vegeta!
Weird seeing Bardock in different armor and without his bandanna though, and possible contradictory to what we see Freeza remember about him on Namek...

I did just list the characters in the DB- portion of the video...
Re: "Jaco the Galactic Patrolman" discussion (Tankōbon April
Vegeta and Raditz are ridiculously drawn, as if this is a gag manga or something...

It is a send-off scene with child!Kakarrotto! This looks too heart achey. *Wants to see it even more now.*TheDevilsCorpse wrote:Jaco commercial revealing details about Dragon Ball Minus! Kakarotto, Bardock, Gine, Freeza, Raditz, Vegeta!

How long is supposed to be this Bonus Comic if it will show more of Gine, as being a member of Bardock's Elite, and a meat distributor? Or this information is just added by Toriyama, and it will not be included?

Well, they are supposed to be children...TheRed259 wrote:Vegeta and Raditz are ridiculously drawn, as if this is a gag manga or something...
There are only 28 unaccounted for pages in the volume, and some of those will obviously go to publishing information, the table of contents, etc. I doubt if Toriyama will go far enough back to show Gine as an actual member of the squad unless it's a flashback panel or something. We may not even see her at her current job either, since this seems to be the final showdown with Freeza and Goku's launch.Low Tone G wrote:How long is supposed to be this Bonus Comic if it will show more of Gine, as being a member of Bardock's Elite, and a meat distributor? Even so I agree with him, they look bad. They even seem younger than Goku. Maybe its a gag scene, I hope...TheDevilsCorpse wrote:Well, they are supposed to be children...TheRed259 wrote:Vegeta and Raditz are ridiculously drawn, as if this is a gag manga or something...
I'm glad Raditz isn't forgotten this time though.
But we know Toei. The chances of they doing a OVA from this arent low at all.Low Tone G wrote: We may not even see her at her current job either, since this seems to be the final showdown with Freeza and Goku's launch.

To be fair, if it isn't directly Dragon Ball, then it doesn't seem to make much of difference.FortuneSSJ wrote:But we know Toei. The chances of they doing a OVA from this arent low at all.
Neko Majin Z is basically DB+, but they haven't touched it even though they could have altered the story to actually fit into the series (similar to the changes they made to Episode of Bardock).
So would they even bother to animate it, even if they only focused on only the Goku portions of the story? (Though I would prefer that they animate Jaco in it's entirety if they were to animate it at all.) Especially when DB- appears that it could possibly be a direct contradiction to both the Bardock TV Special and Episode of Bardock?

It'd be nice to get a vomic out of this.

I can't see the video... For some reason I only see a black screen. It's only for this video too.

To makes things less confusing to me, one of them, I will decide it happened in a alternate universe. Which one, I still cant decide.TheDevilsCorpse wrote: Especially when DB- appears that it could possibly be a direct contradiction to both the Bardock TV Special and Episode of Bardock?
I'm in doubt. All these years I thought Bardock special (which I love) showed how things really happened but now Tori does this. I wont even debating what is canon or not.
