Yeah, there really isn't a need to report any issues about slowness, errors, etc. We do appreciate how... let's say "invested"... people are in the site, but rest assured that if you've noticed something weird, we're already stressing over it and have been for a while :D.

Wait, that doesn't warrant a happy face.

Even though there are still problems in the site, it's nice to have the site back at a time like this with all the recent new stuff coming. So, good luck in bringing the site back to normal!
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

So, wait, was Kanzenshuu targeted by a specific party?

Perhaps a joint effort of Kenshi, final_flash and that gay porn guy?

Is it normal for the log-in settings not to be saved because of this? I had it set to log me in on each visit, but it logs me out when I close the browser and come back again.

Using Firefox if that's any consolation.

If God forbid someone kept doing this to the site is there anyway you can catch them and make this a legal issue?

I was wondering why the heck I kept getting so many 403 Forbidden errors in the past week or so...

Sucks that something like that happened. I've heard of this sort of thing before, but never seen/heard of people targeting a website I actually go to with it. I'm glad everything seems to be sorted out now, though.

Forum member Saiga cannot access this forum but can access facebook so he has internet connection. Any reason why the site ain't working for him?

I had the same problem. They have been blocking IPs in an attempt to help limit traffic so that the forum can run smoother while they are sorting things out with the host (Mike has been ranting about them on Twiter and it's been kinda fun to watch, but I definitely wouldn't want to be in his position). They'll need his IP to know which one to unblock and restore access for him.

We have been blocking IP addresses with well above average hits to the site. Unfortunately there's no real way for us to check if that IP belongs to a bot or an actual person, although I do check if the IP has been blacklisted, and that does result in a few members being accidentally blocked. If a blocked IP tries to access the main website, they should receive this page. If you try to access the forum while blocked, you unfortunately won't see that page, so it's not as easy to figure out what's going on. Basically, tell Saiga to send either Mike or I his IP address and we'll remove it.

Oh, so I'd been visiting too often? Oops. It's all fixed up now, anyway.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

Not necessarily. It's just that we had to block some of the heavy hitters, and we don't know if it's an actual user or a bot. So to err on the side of caution we just block them all.

Ah, so that's what happened.

I was on another forum that was recently nearly permanently downed because a member randomly posted a meme version of a photograph of a Toucan of all things that created a copyright dispute. My mind sort of leapt to the worst.

Thankfully it's all resolved and it wasn't quite so devastating to everyone as the site going down permanently.

I just wanted to jump in real quick with an update to let everyone know that it appears all of our slowness issues have finally been resolved. Everything should be running smoother, and hopefully quicker, than it has been over the last few weeks. Again, a sincere thanks to everyone for hanging with us. We really appreciate it. I don't wish the amount of troubleshooting I had to do on anyone, not even my worst enemies. :D
