Which show do you like better Z or Kai?

Z is superior as whole (voice acting, BGM..etc!) but i like Kai more. cause the pacing in Z is unbelievabley slow to the point that i can't resist it. Z have some nice fillers here and there, mainly when it focus about the characters and their gathering and stuff. but when it come to fights fillers.. oh god

I'm happy with either but I would probably go for Kai. The English dub is far better, the pacing is much more manageable (that said, I'm a lot more tolerant of Z's slow pace now than I used to be), plus I saw Kai on its TV broadcast which I never did with Z...probably because Z started airing in the UK when I was 2 years old, but nevertheless there is a nice feel from watching it on TV knowing that Dragon Ball is still relevant enough for it to be aired on an actual channel.

Z. If I wanted an edited version of Z with some abbreviated scenes and others removed, I could do it myself with editing tools. And the result would probably be better, since it would keep the original audio and it wouldn't have random low quality redrawn scenes.

Make a proper remake or none at all.

Also, you might argue "but Kai has better pacing". Well, that's why I read the manga, and while I'm reading it I'm not constantly bothered by how idiotic the whole concept of Kai is.

Depends, I like aspects of both.

Kai, for improved pacing and a dub that satisfies the dub fan in me.

Z, for better music placement (Kikuchi obviously, Falcouner's irrelevant here). Japanese cast was at their prime.

Funny enough I was just watching the old Z anime and I have to say that, at least in the Buu arc, I don't really enjoy it as much as I remember. Especially compared to the current Kai iteration that we have right now.

Whatever qualms people may have with the Buu arc of Kai and it's misuse of musical ques I have to say that its pacing reflects the arc better than the original anime did. This arc, more than the others that preceded it, really benefits from the fastened tempo. It really reflects the pace of the manga (which I'm also reading) and the mood of the arc as a whole. This arc is about having fun, being a bit more silly and comical, and the new OST reflects that spirit too.

Which is to say that I still prefer Kai for the other arcs as well. The Yamamoto OST is just wonderful to me and it gets me pumped to watch in a way that the original anime failed to do. I watched the original anime because I love the characters, the plot, and the fights. But the anime kind of annoyed me with its pacing, and I'm in the very small (nonexistent?) minority that, for the most part, does not enjoy the original anime score. So take that however you will.

Depends on what mood I'm in. Sometimes I want to experience the story at a brisk pace and sometimes I want the full anime package. If I want an English version, I watch Kai. If I want a Japanese version, I watch the original show. Kai comes across as a tad sloppy at times, but it works as a streamlined package.

I prefer Kai because of the superior dub and better pacing, however, I still enjoy Z for the Bruce Faulconer music and the original voice actors!

I prefer Z, I can't stand Kai's music in the Buu saga, and I prefer the old seiyus. Dragon Ball Z filler is not that bad, if we don't count Goku vs Freezer.

Personally I prefer to watch Z, dubbed. I know that Kai has the better English dub, but it isn't as entertaining to watch, at least for me anyway. It's nice that Funimation got their chance to try again but I don't know, it doesn't feel right when I watch it. I also tend to stay away from the original Japanese dub, it's not that I don't like it or anything, I just didn't grow up on it. The only way I can watch it and enjoy it, is if I watch it the way I did when I was younger. If I want to experience it in it's truest form, I'll just read the manga.
