Like Bullza said, Naruto has the better story, settings, artwork, fights, development, twists and variety. Even if it's not as good as it used to be, that much still stands.
Naruto story became ridiculous in this final arc. Twists?! Sure, in a few chapters the villain will not be Black Zetsu either but Ichiraku Ramen.

Artwork?! Toriyama art in his prime beats Kishi any day. Even today I still find it more interesting and it got much worse...

Fights?! Dont you mean talk no jutsu?! Flashbacks about a dramatic childhood maybe?!

Variety?! Nah, its was always Sakura the black sheep.

Development?! Maybe I will give you this one because I'm a nice guy.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Hardly Naruto started to bomb the minute it started to center everything on Sasuke, to when Sasuke became ridiculously emo-apathetic in character (I hate people who feel happy) nonsense. When Naruto got those ridiculous looking fox-merged transformations especially the glowing one.... oh boy... when they had a tailed beased called Son Goku (yes I know not our Goku) and so on so forth, everything just felt like a rushed to lazy ass-pull. Naruto had its potential in its earliest of concepts but failed dragging them out to points of just tediousness and lagging development. Sasuke is basically Vegeta with no balls or self-respect imo. People complain about Vegeta not letting go of his past but he did, well within the time where it became irrelevant and accepted it. Sasuke didnt until 4/6ths of the story; if you could even argue if he did or not. Call me uneducated on this but, I just lost interest in naruto when it became hard to respect the characters.

Naruto has better artwork? Not in the anime thats for damn sure. DBZ's worst scenes look 10x better than the fight with Pain, that was just hard to even look at and Toei's artwork for DBZ can get really bad at times. Even generally I've never seen an episode of Naruto where I've been wowed by the artwork where as DBZ I admittedly have. When SuperPerfect Cell Dubuted to when SSJ3 Goku debuted, the artwork in those scenes was incredible. Then there were the later moves from broly onward were consistently good visually.

Setting? I dunno, DBZ never needed melodrama to convey an idea of attachment to characters or to their own morals, you never see flash backs about irrelevant forced-tear jerking moments or corny to overdone female confessions of unrealistic love affairs. The idea of love in Naruto is just so pathetic, if not for Hinata proving me wrong on her part: i'd still be laughing at Naruto/Sakura's concept of it. Naruto's boyhood crush was fair as Sakuras with Sasuke when they were kids... but Sakura trying to make hers seem remotely series was just... humiliating.

Development? Naruto's takes too long for me to notice.

Twists and Variety? Sure, DBZ could use more of that. It had a lot of that in the Cell arc which everyone here seems to hate so much...

The Buu arc was at least coherent and consistent pace wise in my perspective. No where near as tedious and dragging as the horrible Ninja War Arc. I dont see why the Buu saga gets so much hate, though unlike the Cell saga it droped for me in quality in the Fusion arc and later. A lot of the fact of Fat Buu being so weak to even Goku's modesty weakened the hype on his character so highy anticipated in the Babidi arc. The hype for Buu in that arc to me would fit a character like Super Buu (unfused) or Beerus as their personalities reflect the hype exactly.
I felt like the arc lost direction after Majin Vegeta's death, and the fights in the Buu arc just seem to keep going and going and going with no semblance of progression towards anything. Literally, everything from Gotenks to the Genki Dama climax felt like one big fight.

I agree. I should say the Babidi - to Majin Arc were the best aspects of it where it felt like a plot was actually there: when they were trying to intercept Buu's revival, it felt like things were happening through the strategic esponage filled pacing, similar to the Imperfect Cell arc and the Early Freeza arc.

I thought the fusion arc was a huge mess where all the strategic planning and surprise was gone: and everything was just left up to random dumb luck and chance.... Gotenks got way too much screen time for his character, way too much... if he only fought Fat Buu and stopped after Super Buu appeared I would have been fine with it. The fight he had with Super Buu should have went to Gohan and Piccolo, a far better team.

Then.... Super Buu vs Vegito..... just no. That fight to me was the worst in the series.

Yeah there wasn't much to Buu's character except that he wanted to fight, similar to that of Perfect Cell.

Gotenks fight I liked because it was a creative and funny match, but Mystic Gohan and Super Vegetto's fight were both boring one-sided stomps that led to nothing.

So...any mangka that you would have liked to seen adapt Dragon Ball?

Not really, Cell was created to be the "perfect weapon" to kill Goku. He succeeded. Buu just exists because he does.

I cant really say anyone better than Toriyama only because most Shonen manga is basically the same these days if not worse.
I think Toriyama just needs to write a better arc than the Buu one if possible. Though with the way BoG was, I don't think he still has his golden mindset he had from the Freeza Cell and Babidi days... DB feels like its deteriorating from the weight of the gag-comedy and less and less seriousness into the plots and villains. Where the direction is headed now is basically what happened in the first arc of GT, the horrible dragonball search arc. I dont want that to happen again.

Mentioned it earlier but nobody responded.

Again, it's entirely subjective. Neither is "better" than the other.

Do you even like Dragon Ball? In many of your posts that I've seen, you say that Dragon Ball is terribly written or that such-and-such series is way better than Dragon Ball.

Jin Kobayashi...wait...the School Rumble guy?

Whoa. I...never thought about that before. Hmm. Honestly, the early stuff might be roughly the same (albeit with a lot more characters earlier on, and more focus on romance aspects) as Kobayashi always had tons of action, even if it was humor based, in Rumble. The chapters of the manga would also be much shorter. And it would possibly be even funnier than it is now, because if there's one thing Kobayashi excels at, it's making me die of laughter.

Agreed. The romance would be gag though.
Yamcha loves Bulma who loves Goku who....doesn't care. Vegeta would love Bulma. Vegeta and Yamcha would rival. Krillin would be ladies man.

This is wonderful! It makes me wish that there was some kind of special were very popular manga artists made one short DB comic. It could be a retelling of their favorite scene or something completely original. Then it was all complied into one book. Kind of like "Marvel Strange Tales" or "Batman Black and White".

Suddenly I want draw Trunks and Goten trying to use alchemy to summon some sort of candy park. Which of course causes Trunks to lose an arm and leg and Goten's whole body.

Oh man, that would be AMAZING. I'd especially love it if they got Katsura in on it (which wouldn't be too hard, considering), cuz there's no telling what kind of gag-style potshots he'd take at Toriyama in it.

You should totally draw this and a shot of them fully as Ed and Al, I'd especially be interested to see what the armor would look like to give off a bit of Goten's design.

If Yoshihiro Togashi (author of Yu Yu Hakusho and Hunter x Hunter) wrote Dragon Ball, we'd still be in the Android Arc right now, considering how often the guy goes on hiatus.
Favorite Movies: Alien, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, The Thing, Evil Dead, The Land Before Time

Naruto is awesome. Y'all just a bunch of haters. Seems like everyone puts Dragon Ball and One Piece on a pedestal around here. I like them all personally.
