Buu Saga Kai
Re: Buu Saga Kai
48 sounds about right - if my memory serves me correct, One Piece took 4 weeks off in total last year.
Toriko returning that quick?. Didn't it totally bomb?.

How can Toriko return if it had a filler ending because of bad ratings?
They would need to completely fuck up the story to continue from that filler ending.

Re: Buu Saga Kai
It's hard to say, but usually with these anime adaptations of long running serialised Manga stories, the major involved partners, in this case Toei, Fuji TV and Namco Bandai, tend to end up being handcuffed to the property for the long run for better or worse. If this wasn't the case, they wouldn't have made such a concerted effort to push Toriko's brand despite the fact that it was clearly flagging and they were essentially just spitting into the wind for practically a year.Flame Dragon wrote:How can Toriko return if it had a filler ending because of bad ratings?

As such, it wouldn't surprise me at all if they're simply working around their contractual agreements with a hiatus and using Kai as a way to give them a little so that they can relaunch the brand, restart the anime and try, yet again, to make a success of it.
And if that's the case - best of luck to them. The Toriko anime failed to appeal to a wider audience, and totally pissed off the majority of the fans of the manga. No one liked it, but Toei and the major sponsors had committed to backing it, and so they did, and tried every last trick in the book to push the brand as hard as they possibly could - yet still failed.

Re: Buu Saga Kai
You have to remember that when we say a year, we're talking about April thru March, not January thru December. From April 2013 thru March 2014, One Piece had two weeks off. I'd say two to three weeks off is pretty typical, and of course it really depends on the year and where Sundays fall on the calendar. Back in 2009 Kai only took two weeks off in its first year, but had about five weeks off in 2010, mostly thanks to the FIFA World Cup and the horrific earth quake. While four isn't out of the realm of possibilities, I'm just not entirely sold on it yet.DBZ_Lee wrote:48 sounds about right - if my memory serves me correct, One Piece took 4 weeks off in total last year.

Of course, yes. I was thinking of a full 12 month January through to December calendar year.Hujio wrote:You have to remember that when we say a year, we're talking about April thru March, not January thru December. You mean they're really bad compared to their Japanese replacements. These are the originals. Personally, I think their awesome, but that's just my opinion.FortuneSSJ wrote:Both are really bad compared to their original versionskei17 wrote:Thanks to DongHyun, I've just got the opening and ending to the international version.

Re: Buu Saga Kai
Still can't say for absolute certain until we get perfect quality versions of the songs, but these are good enough that I think I can say that...I most likely do definitely prefer 'Kuu-Zen-Zetsu-Go' over 'Fight It Out'. I think I still prefer 'Dear Zarathustra' over 'Never Give Up' as well, but the latter's not bad either.

I'm really hoping FUNimation come out and announce their version. I'm thinking that perhaps they could announce it as a trailer before the Theatrical showing of Battle of Gods.

My guess (which has also been made by others if I recall correctly) is that they're waiting until they finish with the Z Blu-Rays out of fear of oversaturating the market again, especially since the sets are currently entering the Boo arc; after the failure of the Level sets, Funi has probably wised up and is opting not to release two versions of the same thing at the same time.DBZ_Lee wrote:I'm really hoping FUNimation come out and announce their version. Re: Buu Saga Kai
I honestly think that Season 9 of the Blu Rays and Part 9 of Kai Buu Saga will both release in November!! I guess we will see soon enough but if this is the case it wont be kept secret for much longer as funimation solicitations for November would be available come end of August!!
Re: Buu Saga Kai
I think they'll wait till 2015 to release the 1st part so it won't effect the z's buu saga blu-ray salesrs_chaosmaster wrote:I honestly think that Season 9 of the Blu Rays and Part 9 of Kai Buu Saga will both release in November!! July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
Re: Buu Saga Kai
Since I know there was some speculation about "What ifs" of what could happen once Dragon Ball Kai finishes, I thought this information would be worth noting.
For anyone hoping about the possibility of Toei Animation doing a new Dragon Ball series once Dragon Ball Kai finishes, looks like it'll be less likely now. Toei Animation and partners announced a new Digimon series for Spring 2015. Although it's not a guarantee that the new Digimon Adventure series will take over the slot, given Digimon Xros Wars had aired on TV Asahi, Digimon franchise got it's start on the Fuji TV network, airing in the 9:00AM timeslot on Sundays, back in March 1999. For an anniversary series, to me, it would make the most sense to air in the slot and network that started it. Given the slot will be open then, it does make the most sense.
I guess we'll see, though.

Re: Buu Saga Kai
Yeah, I was wondering if it would take back the Dragon Ball Kai slot or take the slot Matsutarou is currently using. I'm not sure how TV Asahi feels about celebrating the anniversary of a franchise they did not help to co-create. Fuji Televi and Toei Animation might prefer to keep their 9AM block for JUMP cartoons, too, so I think it's something of a crapshoot now.ChibiGoku wrote:Since I know there was some speculation about "What ifs" of what could happen once Dragon Ball Kai finishes, I thought this information would be worth noting.

I wonder if this means Nakatsuru Katsuyoshi will do anything for this new Digimon cartoon, though.

With toriyama continuing the story in movie form i don't see why they would bother with another tv series

Re: Buu Saga Kai
Why do people think there's going to be a new Dragon Ball series? There hasn't been any indication of that. Besides, I'm fine with it being over, aside from the new movies coming out. The only other thing I want them to do is a "Kai" of the original series.

It's something weekly and new to keep the franchise in the minds of the public for when the big event film comes around.sintzu wrote:With toriyama continuing the story in movie form i don't see why they would bother with another tv series
Re: Buu Saga Kai
Well, to be fair, that time slot has gone from Shueisha (Digimon, Dragon Ball Kai, Toriko), Shogakukan (Gash bell), and Kodansha (Gegege no Kitaro), over the years, so I don't think that would be a factor. I think the only reason Digimon moved off the network in the first place was the lack of available time slots, as Dragon Ball Kai had suddenly gotten renewed (probably Fuji TV wanted more). Either way, we won't know for sure until we get closer to the airing date.JulieYBM wrote:Yeah, I was wondering if it would take back the Dragon Ball Kai slot or take the slot Matsutarou is currently using. I always was under the assumption that DB (the original anime series) was more popular in Japan.sintzu wrote:Me too but with it not being as popular as Z in both japan and the us i don't think it will happenValerius Dover wrote:The only other thing I want them to do is a "Kai" of the original series.
