Seems I wasn't so lucky as to have a theater nearby playing this. Oh well, can't win them all.

I really doubt that they're going to have it at like 10 theaters within an hour of me down here in southern Illinois, but not at a single cinema up in Chicago.KentalSSJ6 wrote:Seems I wasn't so lucky as to have a theater nearby playing this. Oh well, can't win them all.
Just wait a little bit longer or check the actual websites to your normal theaters. The Fandango like sites didn't put up my local theaters until like a week after the theater's website had it listed.

Well I got two AMC theaters nearby in Schereville, Showplace 12 and 16. I checked their release schedules and so far that don't have anything up for August. I'll check up here and there of course but I won't hold my breath.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:I really doubt that they're going to have it at like 10 theaters within an hour of me down here in southern Illinois, but not at a single cinema up in Chicago.KentalSSJ6 wrote:Seems I wasn't so lucky as to have a theater nearby playing this. Then again...we did get a Miyazaki film along with the first Bleach movie and live action Death Note so its a 50/50.

Just fond out it's playing 25 minutes from me in Sacramento
It's not the best theater but at least it's close enough. Now I just hope my health problems don't get in the way.

I think they're still working out a deal with AMC, because I can't honestly believe they wouldn't carry it. If/when they pick it up, that'll fill in a lot of the Midwest.KentalSSJ6 wrote:Well I got two AMC theaters nearby in Schereville, Showplace 12 and 16.
I guess I should add a note that this is in no way a complete list of theaters. We're still a month out from release, so it's pretty typical that they're still working stuff out. We at least know there's about 110 theaters out there that haven't been listed yet. I guess we'll know that all negotiations are done when FUNimation posts a theater list on the official website.

Wow. There are showings near me. I never would have thought that would happen. Hmm. I wonder if I can do what Mike and Meri did back in 2006 and sync up the Japanese audio on an MP3 on headphones to listen along with the film?

Wouldn't the theater speakers leak in, though?Gaffer Tape wrote:Wow. There are showings near me. I never would have thought that would happen. Hmm. I wonder if I can do what Mike and Meri did back in 2006 and sync up the Japanese audio on an MP3 on headphones to listen along with the film?

I dunno. I don't recall Mike mentioning a problem with it. Then again, if I recall correctly, they were watching a screener DVD, so the available sound probably wasn't all that great either.

I'm happy there's one in Fort Wayne where I live. Nice to see that FUNimation is showing Indiana some love. I didn't think it would ever come here, maybe just Indianapolis. I'm so there on the first showing now!Big Momma wrote:Sweet, a couple of Indiana showings about an hour away! I'm there!
Also, this theater near me has an IMAX. I know BoG was shown in IMAX in Japan. What about the U.S.? Or is it just regular screens? What I love about IMAX is not so much the bigger screen, but the sound. It's phenomenal. I've only seen two movies in IMAX but they both blew me away with the sound. I would love to watch the english dub of BoG like this.

It seems my theater is playing the movie for August 5th and 6th at 7PM, but then 7th and 9th at 1:30pm.
Mmm.. regular price or matinee price.. Eh, I'll probably go on the first night. The extra dollars spent will be worth it.

Awesome. I click on tickets somewhere close to me, and it says no show listings are available on Movie Tickets.Li'l Lemmy wrote:The official website has been updated with a list of theaters, minus Canadian showings

Well, looks like it's a bust for me, as closest to me is in Hicky McHicksville, eastern Washington.
Re: How Many Plan to Watch "Battle of Gods" in Theaters?
Just bought my tickets for the showing in Louisville, KY on August 5th. Not sure if it's playing the other days, but if any of the few Kanzenshuuers who live relatively close want to catch it together, maybe get a bite to eat beforehand or afterwards, give me a shout.

Well, I've gotten down to half-an-hour away, but still in a different country. Fingers crossed for Lakeshore Cinema, they had the Death Note movies back in the day.

So, I'm in Japan so I can't go watch. (But, er, I saw it in Japan on opening day. So there's that.)
I'm just popping in to try and plug the idea of an audience-participation version, with custard pudding and sushi at the very least. Somebody's gotta make this happen!

BREAKING NEWS: FIGHT BREAKS OUT OVER DISRUPTIVE AUDIENCE AT ANIME MOVIE PREMIERE!
CULRPITS?! KANZENSHUU!
For real though, please don't do this. Not at a premiere event with fans who are likely very excited to see their preferred version on the big screen.
I figured you were joking the first time I saw you mention this. Am I incorrect in thinking you're serious?
