I never got this argument. Almost all subbed movies/TV shows here in Norway use white subtitles, and I've never heard anyone complain about them being hard to read.
Me, too. I've never seen yellow subs in Japan and I've never had any problems with white subs. I'm not fond of yellow subs because they stick out like a sore thumb.

It seems to be the old standard to use yellow. I personally prefer white so long as the boarder is thick enough, but yellow's all right. Also, it actually makes a lot of sense to use yellow for an 80s anime considering. Maybe they specifically chose to use yellow to go with the standard of the 80s.

Personally, I don't have a preference on what the color of subtitles are, they just have to be readable for me to be happy. And based on the screenshots we've gotten, they serve that purpose well, so it's all good as far as I'm concerned.

Oh, and I also prefer subtitles that can be turned on and off rather than ones that are stuck on no matter what you do, but thankfully that almost never happens with official products.

For the record, I didn't have anything to do with the color of the subs one way or the other. I've always been rather partial to pink, myself.

It doesn't have anything to do with the aging of a product, but the simple fact that it's a lot more visible than white subs with black shadows, not saying white coloured subs are bad because they're fine for DVD but Blu-rays such as the ones from FUNimation they really made me wish they'd made use of the colour options that's usable on PS3 (if the authored BD has any optional coloured subs).

Madman as well as Manga UK, plus ADV and etc have yellowed subs, screen below for anyone who'd interested seeing them:
Saying yellow subs are only suitable for old content reminds me of comments which imply that 4x3 AR shouldn't exist for today's TVs which are in 16x9 AR. It doesn't have anything to do with new or old, it's a different colour.

Those were the dark ages of DVD which companies used hardsubs rather than softsubs.

I didn't say yellow subtitles are only suitable for old content; I said it was fitting because it was old content. Like I said, it's mostly a thing of the past, so it may have been chosen to bring about even more nostalgia for viewers watching this old series. ...Or it could certainly just be the way they do subtitles on all their releases. I dunno. :p

Has anyone received a dispatch confirmation yet?

I know we're still a bit away from July 29 but considering RightStuf sends the products earlier to their customers than other companies I'd expect some to show up with it.

I just want to thank everyone involved in this awesome project and hope that it's profitable enough to light up the original 80's series.

Nope, my order still says 'On Order From Manufacturer' for it and a few other things that I got in the same order. Hopefully they'll all clear up and ship soon. :?

Huh...I wonder if Slump might be one of those products 'delayed' due to con activities then? :/ Really hope that's not the case as far as pre-orders on RightStuf goes.

Yeah, the front page of the Discotek site has this message:
Please note if you are planning on ordering from the Discotek web site store there may be a 1-2 week delay for receiving orders depending on the item. We are very busy with summer anime conventions and are low on stock. The store will return to normal in mid august.
They also haven't had a chance to update their store with the Slump set, so I've given up preordering from them directly, and I'm just going to go with Amazon.

I contacted United Publications for the earliest shipment of it and according to them they've still have to receive it so fingers crossed I get it during week 2 of August at least.
Assuming publisher releases on time July 29th, we should have stock in UK warehouse on August 4/5th and your order will be sent that week.

I hope this information helps.

Didn't think about it that way, but yeah - if it taking a bit longer than expected for us who pre-ordered to get our copies in is the price we pay for it to have sold well enough for us to get more, that's a small (albeit annoying, yes) price to pay.

I don't know if you have ordered from them before, but the item always arrives the following day after dispatch which is awesome.
Also, them getting items early varies a lot. Like I got DBZ S5 2 weeks early and now I'm getting Fairy Tail Part 11 1-2 weeks late lol

I did order before from UP before but they cancelled it due to not having any stock of it (the DBZ Level 1 & 2 Blu-rays) so this will actually be the first to come through, hopefully.

Oh crap, I didn't even account for that, and I didn't look at their front page either. I ordered their DVDs of Mystery of Mamo and Dead or Alive from them over the weekend, I guess I can expect me a wait. :/ But it was worth it IMO cause Mamo is actually cheaper from them than Amazon, same with Mazinger Z...go figure...

I don't really bother preordering directly from them either. Amazon or RightStuf's the way to go IMO. But these days I rarely preorder anyhow, I wait until it's in stock and I have the bucks.

It's a toss up between white and yellow. Fist of the North Star and Lupin TV have white subs, Bye Bye Lady Liberty has yellow I think, Cutie Honey has yellow, etc. I think Crying Freeman and Demon City Shinjuku have white. Yeah, just depends on what the typesetter feels like.

I do hope that the pre-order wackiness IS a good sign though.

Some related cross-site promotion, just in case anyone in this thread has, as I often have, forgotten that there is indeed a site too (oh, hey, and a podcast too!) - http://www.kanzenshuu.com/2014/07/21/po ... sode-0366/

Don't feel like you know enough about Slump to feel comfortable buying this set yet, or just can't spare the cash yet? Why not give winning it a try!

Sorry for the double post guys, but just checked RS again, and while part of my order has shipped, a few things haven't yet, including the Slump movies. However, where it originally said 'On Order From Manufacturer' originally, it now says 'Reserved For Your Order'. I could be wrong, but I seem to remember that that means they actually DO have said item on hand and are preparing to send it when they can. In my case, this could be a while since they'll probably want to ship it out with the other two remaining items (that are still suck in 'On Order' limbo, ack!), but if any of you ordered from RS and got just the Slump movies, then you might be in luck pretty soon!

Yeah, they actually went to charge me for it yesterday, but I've replaced that credit card since my initial order. I had to call them up and swap it over. They informed me the charge would get run again the next day... which is today, so we'll see if it ships out!
