Just a thought.
The thing is, if the previous Super Saiyan God was revived, he wouldn't be a Super Saiyan God because he failed to absorb its power & make it his own. And without SSGod, he can't even turn into a Super Saiyan, and he was weaker than the evil Saiyans, who are most likely below 90.000 in base (Vegeta assumed that Goku was a Super Saiyan because he had surpassed the Saiyan limits by reaching a BP of 90.000, and Ginyu believed that he was a mutant or a Super Saiyan, so such power must have been very rare). So, the previous Super Saiyan God wouldn't be anything special.

Frieza was sacred of the SSJ God as well so who knows where he ended up.

He was scared that someone would become a Super Saiyan God, not the previous Super Saiyan God. The previous SSGod was strong as a Super Saiyan God, but still far weaker than God Goku, and he didn't even keep the power. So, if he was revived, he would be a good weak Saiyan that can only turn into an Oozaru.

While I really like the idea of the original SSJG coming back to live, it wouldn't make any sense for him to want to kill Vegeta, considering Vegeta helped Goku become a SSJG so he's basically a "pure-hearted" saiyan now. Unless the original SSJG's mind has twisted due to rage/grief and all he can feel is anger.

I do like the theory about the original Super Saiyan God being revived, this is where I went to as well. But I think it's going to be a new character we've not met before, or perhaps something that's only been hinted at very loosely in the past.

It's the same, although I don't recall Torishima's name being given the furigana "Mashirito" in the Jump version. Still taking potshots at his ex-editor after all these years.

Yeah I agree. It would be cool if it were to be the case, though. The I think a bigger mystery is who is making this wish.

I would like to see Goku and Vegeta training together, maybe assisted by Whis and Beerus as their masters.

The new villain could be a threat to the 12 Universes, open dimensions, you know.

Buu already been reincarnated as Uub. Uub is at least two or three years old during the events of 2008 Jump Special and Battle of Gods.

Maybe Beerus makes the wish, and revives King Vegeta, so he can step on him again, and cause him more despair. Kidding.

It would be interesting to see who it is that is 'revived' though. So much speculation involved, I can't even begin to fathom!

I think they could pull off a Star Trek '09 and Mortal Kombat 9 (Mortal Kombat 2011) on us with the new wish. A new villain comes up and he uses the wish to create a new world in his vision which causes a birth to a new timeline. So the old timeline is gone and we have a new one now.

Maybe. But how would that affect Future Trunks' timelines? I mean, every time he traveled, a new timeline was created. That could really mess something like that up.

DBZ is too old to get a reboot. Star Trek and Mortal Kombat are continuing so they needed something new to keep going, DBZ is going to stop again at some point. Besides asking for a new timeline is inviting Broly and others into canon.

I hope its not Bardock, Broly or Freeza. Those characters have been cameo'd to death already despite ironically being long dead. I get that Bardock is Naho Ooshi's favourite character, but I'm a little annoyed at how often hes being inserted into relevance without having any these days in general.

If that's all you want, then all you want is fanservice, rather than an actual coherent story. And of course those aren't mutually exclusive; you could have a coherent story with "shine" moments! But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.

Star Trek is way over then Dragon Ball. ST pretty much died out in the early 2000's since Nemesis bombed and Enterprise didn't last very long. I think a villain who makes a wish to recreate history would be cool. It won't surprise me if that's the wish. Maybe Time Patrol Trunks can show up to get things fix back to normal.

The thought of time patrol trunks getting involved in this movie hasn't entered my mind but it's an interesting idea, i will say it's a bit of a stretch however.

Character development for someone like Broly almost seems counter intuitive. (The all action character that was purely insane) But there is just about no chance they will bring him back again so i wouldn't worry too much.

DC was 50ish when it was rebooted with Crisis on Infinite Earths. Godzilla was 30ish when it was rebooted in 1984, and again in 2000. Star Trek was 50ish when it was rebooted.

Dragon Ball is by no means too old for a reboot.

I still doubt Broli is ever going to be in this movie. There's a better chance of the sky raining blood tonight then Broli coming back.
