Assuming the impossible has happened and FUNi has actually secured the rights to the improved masters, it could be Toei itself who has decided to hold them back for this many months more. FUNi may have rescheduled the release based on when they'll actually recieve the footage for encoding; if it isn't by September, then they certainly can't hold themselves to the previously announced release date now, can they?Victator Supreme wrote:I would like to own these episodes as soon as possible. I have avoided using bitorrent, because I want to buy the first season on dvd. If they are adding a bunch of great stuff to the dvds, then fine thats worth six months delay. But not for a moderately improved picture.
Should we be happy about the delay? Eh. If it's for improived picture quality alone, I wouldn't be so sure . . . but in concert with the fact that we're getting this many more episodes per box for a reduced price, I can definitely say that I don't mind waiting. And that's to say nothing of whatever special features we may recieve.
(C'mon, FUNi! This is your chance! Special features: Get it right! Look at what Spain is doing!)

Not a chance in hell, I say. They've given it too much time and planning, and they know we're all drooling to buy them.
It may not seem like it (given some of the bizarre decisions they make), but they've got people scouting message boards just like this one to keep track of our opinions, I'm sure. Not to mention the questions and feedback their representatives get bombarded with at conventions and such. And they know . . . that if they kill this idea . . . that we'll kill them.
Y'hear that, FUNi?! We WANT these!

Exactly. The whole craze may have faded in America, but DBZ has served as FUNi's cash cow for so long that it just makes sense to do these remasters. Hey, if Popeye got remastered, so can DBZ!Li'l Lemmy wrote:Not a chance in hell, I say. They've given it too much time and planning, and they know we're all drooling to buy them.
Also, take note that their latest DBZ releases (Movie 13 and the Broly X3pak) has been pretty hyped, with commercials that were actually aired outside of their site! If they pushed it a little further, I'm sure some kind of mini revival will come from it, like new merchandise. I remember back when I couldn't turn a corner without seeing someone with a DBZ shirt or toy at hand, and mon oh man, I'd kill to see that kind of thing come about again!
And yeah, actual bonus material would rock, too. I mean Character profiles? WTF?!
