Right. I remember he says he was a year younger than Krillin. I'll watch some more tonight.

So I watched up to episode 4. That Toribot that showed up (episode 3) saying "It's not Penguin Village" makes me wonder what was said in the dub. I didn't bother to go back and watch.

Episode 4 in particular cleared up a lot of questions I had about Oolong. I always considered him "Oolong the pedophile" because he harvested young girls in his palace. Turns out he was younger than Bulma. Myth Busted!

Bulma... is beyond shallow. Got an intense love/hate for Bulma.

Also, Goku's reasoning is still hilarious. +Pat pat*, "You're a girl", and after Oolong saw his package "How'd you know I was a boy without touching my crotch?"

The Tori-Bot thing talks? He didn't say a word in the dub.

Oolong's supposed to be younger than Bulma? The dub never mentions his age and he seems a lot older.

I had a feeling they just ignored the Toribot.

As for Oolong, his dub voice is so adult like and then the lack of him revealing his age definitely confused me when I was younger watching it. So every time my brother and I saw "Oolong the Monster" it was "Oolong the Pedophile".

I think he's 9, I remember reading that somewhere.

Does he not mention being younger than Bulma in the dub? Here's what he says in the Manga.
I also just checked the Blue Water Dub and.... he doesn't mentioned his age either! :eh: I guess because a perverted kid would look bad but... does a pedophile adult pig look really any better?

I always found it interesting how across the many English dubs Oolong has always been interpreted as being pretty old. Seeing Oolong as a kid was one of the bigger surprises my first time watching too. As you mentioned it made his first appearance considerably less awkward.

I'm glad you're watching the original series. I hope you dig it.

A bit earlier in the manga (not sure if it's in the Viz translation), when Bulma says she's 16 and he's thinking about his breasts, he says "But she's 16... she's older than me"

ROUGA FUU FUU KEN!!! Just watched the introduction of the desert bandit. Literally, Yamcha was only cool for about 10 minutes. But at least he doesn't sound like a surfer dude this time. I forgot about his fear of interacting with women (when I first saw that when I was younger, I could relate lol), now he's a lady killer... allegedly.

Still shocked at how much the dialogue changed between the dub and the original, but it's understandable. It's pretty filthy at times. Constant talk about panties, Goku shocked about the female anatomy, and Goku's constant nut checks never get old. Oolong ate that candy... and now has loosest bowels on Earth. That freaks me out how that works.

I honestly don't remember having this much of a laugh watching Dragon Ball, it's pretty fun. Also interesting to see where the story started to where it ended up. It's crazy.

So... apparently when Goku cup checked Chi-chi, in her head they're married... Bitch is crazy.

I don't know how that went in the dub, but I don't remember her calling him "dear" or bringing up marriage until the 23rd Budokai.

Well, the dub ignores the marriage thing at first, but it is brought up during the filler in the early Red Ribbon Army Saga.

Just finished the "Goku Arc". Little Goku is adorable. His lack of general social skills, asking questions about simple things and his socially unacceptable behavior is hilarious to watch. Even more so in Japanese because I know Funimation's version heavily censored that dialogue. I don't remember much of Dragon Ball since I watched it a long ass time ago, but I could definitely see how this Arc could end DB right there as a one shot. At the same time, I understand why people wanted more. So many unanswered questions in this one arc, and so fun to watch.

Yamcha I believe was never meant to be a serious character. The desert bandit with a fear of talking to women... he lost already.

Bulma is beyond conceited. (I probably said that already) But she annoys the hell outta me. She's lucky she's smart or I wouldn't like her at all.

Oolong's life is confusing. He lived in a palace or whatever, trying to date girls. I feel like he could've gone back to that, but without terrorizing the villagers. Then again, that's if they're willing to have him back around.

And my all time favorite, Goku. Like I said earlier, he's fun to watch. His strength is crazy from the start. I guess Gohan's training was legit. If Gohan was still around, how much stronger would Goku be as opposed to training with Roshi? Who knows. Also, his story about his grandfather being crushed by a monster I felt was sped by pretty quickly. Goku doesn't convey emotions well I understand, but I still felt like that was brushed by rather quickly. I mean that's serious shit. Even so, despite Bulma's self-centered personality, she at least felt sorry for him and decided it was best Goku doesn't know Gohan's death was his own doing.

Anyway. Onto the "Training Arc" I believe.

He mentioned the palace was paid for with money he had stolen/tricked from the villagers, so I rather doubt it.

Okay so, I've been watching Goku and Krillin's training and got up to the semi finals with Krillin vs Jackie Chun.

Episode 24 is beyond ridiculous. First Jackie Chun's song. Wtf. Then Goku joined in, funny stuff. After that, Krillin and Jackie Chun jumped at each other and then the screen flashed. They explained everything that happened in 0.2 seconds. Trading punches and kicks, spitting, sneezing, and strategizing. I forgot these kind of feats were possible for early Dragon Ball characters.

What am I watching?! Lol.

Red Ribbon Army Full Frontal Assault!

So I've watched up to Goku dominating Metallitron. This kid is nuts.

Colonel Silver was a cool character, didn't expect his voice to be that deep. I've only heard Sabat voice him, which was always weird to hear. I was expecting an "Omae wa mō shindeiru" at some point, lol.

Goku still makes me laugh with his lack of common knowledge. General White was speaking and his voice projected though the intercom (or whatever) and Goku has no idea how his voice can reach him. Too funny.

Metallitron was funny. He fired a rocket and thought it destroyed Goku then made a peace sign while saying "pisu" over and over, as if his programming glitched.

Goku is making his way up, so I'll keep watching later on. I don't remember if there's something before Ninja Murasaki.

Silver is voiced by Ginga Banjou, who also voiced Giran and will voice Bora. He was also the original narrator of Hokuto no Ken before Chiba Shigeru took over the role.

I've also liked the way the 1986 animated series handled the Silver chapters. There is a real sense of scale and fearsomeness added to the Red Ribbon Army in these episodes thanks to the manner in which music is used and the cuts of their vehicles and soldiers in action.

He also voiced Jack and Jack-2 for the first two Tekken games along with Gihren Zabi from Mobile Suit Gundam.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.
