Tate Naoki is one of two animation supervisors for Disk Wars: Avengers Episode #29, so I suppose that means he isn't working on the 2015 movie...or he is working on it and this was but a minor break to help out Animation Supervisor Yashima Yoshitaka.

That is Tate Naoki, near as I can tell. He hasn't done much in the way of work in recent months. It will be interesting to see if he turns in a strong performance for Disk Wars: Avengers Episode #29 tomorrow.

Oonishi Ryou is still involved with Majin Bone. He was a key animator and animation supervisor for Episode #29, so it's unlikely he has been pulling double-duty for the 2015 Dragon Ball Z film. Shida Naotoshi has yet to update on what h current slate of work is, either. Shida did his work on Battle of Gods in November, so it will be interesting to see if history repeats itself.

I like all three of those animators. Tate, Oonishi, Shida; I'd be happy with any of them getting the job.

Yeah, news always seems to hit right before one wakes up so it's always a wind storm. I don't expect we will get much more out of Shida Naotoshi for this film than another short fight scene, but it would be very nice if Tate Naoki took on a 'main animator' role we see in films and series outside of Toei Animation.

Well, if you think back to BOG, we didn't really get anything substantial until November. It was just a few little tidbits between then and the film's initial announcement.

We just have to sit back and wait.

As many times as I have looked it up I would think I would remember by now, but here I am looking it up once again. It was not until December that we learned the story of the film and received the first trailer that utilized animation from the movie. I wouldn't be surprised if similar happened for the 2015 film, although no official upload of aforementioned trailer was made until 21 December 2012. I would think there would be a trailer attached to The Last: Naruto The Movie when it comes to theaters 06 December 2014. Then again, I am not sure if Japan shares the United States' practice of trailers from one studio running before the film of another studio, so perhaps there will be less reason to have a trailer finished then.

If there is any mirroring in terms of updates, going by old DA entries I made:
-October 2012 VJump was just an announcement saying essentially 'November VJump has plot-info in it'.
-November 12th leaks of the WCF mini-figures (with never-used-in-the-movie, yet-speculation-fuel cheerful-Vegeta, and wrong-color-scheme Pilaf)
-November 2012 VJump had BOG's poster and title along with naming Beerus and Whis. Also listed their voice actors.
-December 3rd the BOG website had a big update.
-December 6th Beerus, Whis, and ssj3 Gokû's WCF mini-figures are revealed
-December 7th was the trailer
-Jump Festa showcased the finalized WCF mini-figures (minus ssjg Gokû)

i just thought that was supposed to be from when he told Beerus that Saiyaman wasn't the Super Saiyan God. It's not exact, but then they got the outfit wrong too. So with what we know of the production schedule for the film, I wouldn't be surprised if they started sculpting the thing based of a very rough storyboard or rough concept art we never saw or something. Maybe even just a description.

Oh I definitely think it's a concept art type figure.

That BOG mook that Shueisha published during BOG's speculation even had un-used Vegeta reaction-faces ranging from overly-cheerful to exaggeratingly-gag-anger.

There were fifteen key animators: Yashima Yoshitaka, Shida Naotoshi (likely for Wasp's new 'BANK animation') and thirteen key animators from Toei Animation Philippines.

I didn't see or read anything movie-related there, but it is possible I may have missed something. My Japanese is better than it was through BOG, but I'm still not fluent yet.

I'm pretty sure they're just talking about the arcade Heroes and the 3ds Heroes game.

Looks like we are getting a VJump+ in the future though.

I just double checked, Tate Naoki has had three months between credits, both on Disk Wars: Avengers. I could feel his hand on quite a feel of the action cuts as Black Panther fought Tiger Shark. If those were not simply the work of talented animators from Toei Animation Philippines I have to wonder if Tate didn't do a lot of polishing to give those cuts some extra flair. That or he did key animation without taking credit. Still, I want to hope his absence from other titles is indicative of Yamamuro Tadayoshi asking him to be character designer for this coming film. Tate helped as an animation supervisor assistant on the 2008 special, so it isn't like the two do not have a working relationship of some sort, given so much of Tate Naoki's charm came through in that special.

I enjoyed Tate's work on Ossu! so much, I'd be so happy to have him as character designer.
