Dragon Ball Xenoverse: Will it flop?

Post by Hero_Of_The_Future » Fri Nov 07, 2014 10:22 am

I wish they'd stop with this Battle of Z style and just go back to the Budokai/Tenkaichi style.

It just seems like it can be really repetitive, I haven't played the game yet, but my hopes aren't really high. The last good DB game was Tenkaichi 3/the Raging Blast games.

The Spike games can be really repetitive themselves whatnot with everyone more or less having the same set of combos yet they managed to sell just fine and the Tenkaichi games were actually fairly well received.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

Still, I find the Tenkaichi style of DB games to be more fun than the Battle of Z style. I mean, I just don't have high hopes that this game will be a good DB game, but I hope I'm wrong.

The premise is pretty cool though.

Anyone who has played the beta knows that the game doesn't play like BoZ. NOT! even! close!

I haven't played the Beta and it is absurdly clear to me that this game has NOTHING to do with Battle of Z.

Same here. In Xenoverse, you can actually charge ki. I mean, what DBZ game doesn't allow you to build up ki?

It isn't and to say that you clearly haven't played it (well, you've admitted below)

So you say this game is repetitive but yet you praise Tenkaichi 3 and the broken Raging Blast titles? Oh that shows how well you know the games.

No offence to the OP but he seems like the sort of person you'd see on YouTube complaining about Xenoverse without even trying it out.
EXBadguy wrote:Anyone who has played the beta knows that the game doesn't play like BoZ. NOT! even! close!
Xenoverse uses elements from Burst Limit, Brave Soldiers, Raging Blast, Ultimate Blast and Battle of Z so it's pretty much a mix of all of them into one using the best they all had at stake.
FlpShimizu wrote:I haven't played the Beta and it is absurdly clear to me that this game has NOTHING to do with Battle of Z.
Like I said it uses elements from Battle of Z but the gameplay is very different, deep and keeps all of its moments without jumping into cutscenes like Tenkaichi/RB used to.

It only took Bandai Namco seven years to realise the kind of Dragon Ball fighting game they should release (it blends perfectly between the 2D and 3D games we've had before).

Really wish people would stop comparing this game to BoZ just because it has multiple people on screen.

It's from Dimps. The creators of the first three Budokai games made older fans look forward to it again going by the comments that I see on Gamefaqs and other sites.

It all depends on whether the servers will be stable day one, or we'll have a repeat of the mess that happened with the "demo" :P

If Bandai Namco did cross-over purchases it would be really nice because I'm planning on getting this for PS4 though for the mean time I'd play it on my PS3 but in case there's no cross-over bundle I'll just go with the current-gen version. And firstly I'd play the story mode then afterwards move to the online mode (*ugh* gotta pay for online play on PS4 :| ).

As someone who made it into the network test and played it thoroughly, I can say this is nothing like BOZ. There are branching combos much like the RB style of mixing light and heavy attacks. I'm not huge into the 3-4 people on screen combat either but it's by no means horrible or broken. The only thing this game has in common with BOZ is some of its camera angles.

I like BT3. It might be repetitive to some, but I enjoyed it. The camera angles and three on three battles remind me of BoZ.

What I mean by that is the 3 on 3 battles. They're...okay.

I didn't say that it plays like BoZ, the three on three battles/camera angles are similar. That's all. :o

Is Xenoverse really that good? BTW, I'm not trying to hate on the game, everyone. I'm actually somewhat interested in it now that I've heard it has combos.

If it really blends Budokai and Tenkaichi into one, then it'll turn out good. I heard someone say that the graphics aren't that good/look last-gen. What's everyone's opinion on that? I mean, to me, the graphics look fine (though they COULD look a bit more advanced for a Xbox One and PS4 game, eh).

We've not really seen much of the graphics outside the last-gen version so it's hard to say how it'll be on PS4/PC, but it's probably going to be very impressive especially on PC on high-end rigs.

This is not a Budokai/Sparking/Tenkaichi-style or BoZ-style game... it's its own new game with its own unique mechanics and features. Saying you want "them" to go back to style X rather than something new just makes no sense to me. Especially ones as oversaturated as those.

The game's not even out and much less the confirmation of a sequel but hopefully, yes.

I'm kinda bummed out that Xenoverse won't be available for the Wii U because I've recently purchased One Piece: Unlimited World Red (out of print in Europe already) and the game makes great use of the hardware plus the game's really good too!

Oh well, PS4 it is! :D

Nah, I hope it will never release on the Wii U. It's way too weak and I want that full experience for a sequel on those platform.

Hope you mean PS4, PC and XO because the last-gen (360, PS3) are possibly holding Dimps back from fully focusing on the current-gen versions for absolute optimisation.

I wish One Piece: Unlimted World Red would've been released for PS4, PC and XO too because it's so addictive and a beautiful artistic game.
