Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection 'F'"

Here's my theory:

Freeza gets revived by his two soldiers and is humiliated by the Z fighters. Realizing he is essentially impotent in Universe 7, he decides to find a way to get to a weaker universe to reclaim his power. Goku spares his life but is intrigued at the idea of finding new universes because he wants to fight stronger opponents. He agrees to work with Freeza and figure out how to do it. Beerus and Whis get wind of this somehow and try to stop them with the help of Vegeta. In the end, Goku and Freeza succeed, or possibly Goku changes his mind but Freeza still succeeds. They open the universal gateways and accidentally set loose strong villains onto the other universes. Enter movie 3...

Some additional thoughts:

-I'm hoping Vegeta has caught up to Goku. The new outfits also suggest that they may have been trained by Whis.
-The movie poster seems to be a callback to the Namek Arc. Perhaps Gohan, Krillin and Piccolo will have larger roles.
-The return of scouters hopefully means we get some new power levels.
-Goku as an antagonist is long deserved, and would fit with Toriyama's quote about Vegeta being the main protagonist next time.
-I do not want a God power up or Immortality for Freeza. The former would not make sense and the latter would just be annoying.

Meh, I don't see how that could happen at all. The poster implies that Goku and Vegeta are gonna be the primary protagonists of the film, and Goku's already long realized that Frieza is completely beyond salvaging. I don't think he'd be eager to help him for the sake of finding new opponents.

Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Gotenks, Piccolo and Buu are all wayyyy stronger than Freeza.

Don't forget Kibitoshin, Trunks, Goten, 17, and 18. Possibly 16 too, if that wish brought him back at the end of the Cell arc.

Ok, now I'm completely hyped to see Gohan fighting again and if Toriyama doesn't give me that after teasing me with that poster I'm going to be really frustrated.

Whew! Finally made it through the explosion of new comments. Though I was initially surprised at the revelation of Freeza's revival (had the same "how will he even be relevant at this point?" reaction as many others), now I'm wondering how they'll utilize Beerus and Whis. Really excited they're back, I love Beerus!

And since Beerus is up from his three year nap, little Pan and Bra should be around, too. Hope we'll get something with Vegeta fawning over daddy's little girl (really enjoyed their interactions in GT). And digging his new armor. Thought it was the same old tired armor at first glance, but looking closer it's definitely different. Can't wait to see a full view.

And what could be the meaning of Gokuu's new symbol? Something he got from doing godly training with Beerus and Whis? Something he made up just because he felt like it? Looking forward to getting more information about everything (because, no, I don't have the self control to go spoiler-free on this!)

What I am guessing is that Goku is training with Beerus and Whis for some sort of reason because that could be Beerus' symbol on the gi. It looks like it would make sense because the only people who are stronger so far seem to be them.
I think the gi is kind of cool but I prefer his EoZ Gi,

-The new characters Sorbet and Tagoma look cool. Not up to par with Toriyama's old character creativity and Sorbet looks a lot like Abo and Kado. I really wonder what they have to do in the story? Could they be similar to the Ginyu Force?
Is this from DB- cause I haven't actually read it yet....?

- Gohan, Goten, or Yamucha being on the cover! Screw Yamucha because he is never will be so significant to be on the poster... (Sorry Yamucha fans). I also don't believe its Goten because he is so associated with Trunks that he is usually with him.

Opinion: Kind of miss his old look...

-Frieza being revived.

Opinion: Kind of cool, but I kind of wished for a new villain. We don't know for sure though. All I want to know is who revived him?

I want to say it's Gohan, but the absence of Goten and Trunks, and bald Kuririn make me think Yamcha and wish-induced AU's.

It does feel suspect that the kids are missing.

There are no scars on his face, and if you look closely the outline of his eye cuts off just like with the rest of the Son boys. Plus the jumpsuit has the Saiyaman colors. It's definitely Gohan.

That makes me happy. While SMC has me missing Tohru Furuya, that being Gohan is more intriguing somehow.

I've already mentioned how that would be an extraordinarily bad idea.

Does anyone else think were finally going to get that age old question of what their power levels are now, with the scouters making a come back?

I hope so. All the years of the internet inflating and deflating the power levels of character after the Freeza Arc have been an issue and have lead to people being misinformed. Maybe we'll finally get some closure and know exactly what the numbers are for certain characters and transformation.

You're waaaay too optimistic. Releasing new numbers at this point would cause a civil war amongst the battle power crowd. Half of them would insist that "the numbers are cannon because akira said so," while the other half would be violently frothing at the mouth because "his numbers don't make since because in volume 17 chapter 3 this number was so and so and he overpowererd a guy who was so and so so a difference of .035 is all that's needed for a stomp." It would be a nightmare.

Having two characters in the center of the poster doesn't imply they are both protagonists. In BoGs Beerus and Goku were in the center of the poster and Beerus was an antagonist.

Do you not know Goku's personality? He'd do almost anything to find new opponents, including putting his family in danger. Frieza doesn't even have to tell him what his motives are. He just needs to take advantage of Goku's desire to get stronger.

So since Chris Sabat got a few of the Z actors back in Battle of Gods, wouldn't it make since to bring Linda Young back as Freeza? Since he tries to keep Kai and Z separate and all. I don't see why it would be necessary to break your own rule due to preference, it should be about consistency.

Well first of all, that never even happened in the main timeline. But more importantly, the situation was different then. Freeza had come to Earth specifically to destroy it. In this movie, Freeza is brought there by Shenron. He's outclassed and he knows it, and probably isn't going to attack the Earth. He could still possibly cheap shot everyone by destroying the Earth, but Goku let's people go all the time that are capable of that.
