The spirit bomb was Vegeta's idea. Plot driven, I suppose. But that's far from the topic.

Because the Boos have such incredible regeneration and resilience. Fat Boo survived Vegeta blowing himself up and at one point I recall him regenerating from smoke alone.Hitiro wrote:Goku says he could have defeat Fat Boo as a SSJ3 if he wanted to before he fights Pure Boo. Do you honestly believe that Goku was talking about Genki Dama there? Goku also says that if he was at full power he could also kill off Pure Boo. So why do these characters need only a Genki Dama to kill them off?
Vegeta would only need to knock him out of the ring anyway so this doesn't really contribute to the thread.

The Boo's do have incredible resilience and regeneration. But they aren't impervious to damage. As Pure Boo demonstrated against Mr. Boo. Mr. Boo was close to death after fighting against Pure Boo. Vegeta blowing himself up just wasn't strong enough an attack. That doesn't mean to say that if SSJ2 Vegeta(EoZ) was 50% SSJ3 Goku(Boo Arc) then his blowing himself up wouldn't be strong enough. Maybe it takes 2x Boo's battle power to defeat his regeneration and resilience? If Vegeta in the Boo arc was twice as weak as Fat Boo though then it is understandable that if he were to output an attack 2x more powerful than himself it wouldn't be enough.NitroEX wrote:Because the Boos have such incredible regeneration and resilience. And yes, Vegeta knocking Mr. Boo out of the ring is another method he can beat him. But I don't see how looking at Mr. Boo's resilience to consider whether Vegeta can beat him doesn't contribute to the thread. Considering we are trying to ascertain what would be necessary to beat him. Regardless I stand by the possibility that if Vegeta had gained 2x his strength in the 10 years after the Boo arc it would be possible for him to beat Boo without a ring-out.

Just because Buu can't be killed by Omega Shenron, doesn't mean Buu would be strong enough to overpower him.singsing wrote:What you're saying is that Buu literally cannot die except for him being evil and being defeated by a Spirit Bomb formed by someone with a pure heart. So are you trying to say that in a fight, Omega Shenron would lose to Buu because Shenron would never be able to beat Buu?Friezacooler wrote:Doubt Omega shenron was pure of heart, with him being infected with all that negative energy!!.
Wasn't Gohan able to deflect the Spirit Bomb in the Saiyan Saga because he was good or something?
And I don't think Pure Buu almost killing Mr. Buu is due to damage, but because Mr. Buu was running out of ki. Even if he can physically regenerate forever, he still needs ki. Maybe if enough time passed he'd regain ki though, without actually dying.

In the Viz translation Goku says Gohan doesn't have an evil Ki so he can bounce it back. But when Goku goes to throw the Genki Dama at Pure Boo he says it would hurt Vegeta if he didn't move. And Vegeta is considered a good guy, hence the Dragon resurrecting him. So it is possible that it can be bounced back but it will still do damage if they don't attempt to bounce it back.mAcChaos wrote:Just because Buu can't be killed by Omega Shenron, doesn't mean Buu would be strong enough to overpower him.

Re: Could (Mr.) Buu beat everyone in the 28th Budokai?
I'd still give it to Mr. Buu. Mr. Buu stood up against Pure Buu and actually held his own for a bit. Granted, he's Buu, so he therefore has better resilience and can handle damage much better than any Saiyan, but he also managed to land some hits on Pure Buu, and even got him mad. So I have Mr. Buu more around SSJ3 level rather than SSJ2. Vegeta, though seemingly more powerful than his Buu arc self, is still not nearly as strong as Buu, even as a Super Saiyan 2. I have it as:
- SSJ2 Vegeta (Buu): 6.4
SSJ2 Vegeta (EOZ): 10.8
Mr. Buu: 18
Pure Buu: 24
SSJ3 Goku (Buu): 25.6
Re: Could (Mr.) Buu beat everyone in the 28th Budokai?
When Fat Buu was 'whole', we know that he was <FPSSJ3 Goku, but >SSJ2 Majin Vegeta. However, the version of Fat Buu that Goku battled as a SSJ3=/=the version of Fat Buu who stalled Pure Buu toward the end of the saga("Mr. Buu".) Remember, when Fat Buu split from his evil/grey aspect shortly after his battle with Goku, "most of" his power went to the evil half:

ie. Good/Fat Buu was left with <50% of his original power.
That said, I think it's conceivable that Vegeta may have been able to contend with Mr. Buu by the time of the 28th Budokai, given that he never stopped training and almost certainly became quite a bit more powerful in that decade-long gap.
As for Gohan: even if he retained just half of his 'MSSJ'-level power, he should still be able to stomp Mr. Buu, imo.

With a Senzu bean Vegeta could have beat Mr. Buu in a fight after the Spirit Bomb destroyed Pure Buu. The getting stronger bit, was about if Pure Buu came back.

I just realized, Vegeta would need to become twice.as powerful as his Buu saga Majin SSJ2 self to get a chance with Mr. Buu in End of Z.

And considering BOG has his base STILL weaker than Freeza, even after five years of training since the Buu Saga, I don't see Vegeta doubling his power in the slightest with only five years until EOZ. I see him perhaps gaining roughly 50% added on to his Buu Saga strength during EOZ, but no more.Angelus wrote:I just realized, Vegeta would need to become twice.as powerful as his Buu saga Majin SSJ2 self to get a chance with Mr. Buu in End of Z.

Re: Could (Mr.) Buu beat everyone in the 28th Budokai?
Because SSJ3 is 4 times more powerful than SSJ2 right? SSJ3 Goku was in the same league as Fat Buu. When Fat Buu split to evil Buu and Good Buu/Mr. Buu, the evil buu had more power. So assuming that Mr. Buu is 30 to 49% since he's the weaker half, then he would still be around twice or 1.5x more powerful than SSJ2. Hence for SSJ2 Vegeta to stand a chance, he would need to be at least 1.5 to twice as powerful as his buu saga SSJ2 majin self.
Re: Could (Mr.) Buu beat everyone in the 28th Budokai?
Upon further evaluation, I don't think EoZ Vegeta would have a prayer against Mr. Buu.
SSJ2 Vegeta was only able to stall Pure Buu for about 7 pages in the manga --less than a minute-- before he was KO'd. Mr Buu, on the other hand, stalled Pure Buu for over 30 pages --long enough for a lot of monologuing to take place, the Dragon to be summoned, 2 wishes to be made, more monologuing to occur, and a Genki Dama to start being created-- before he was KO'd. Even though Mr. Buu possessed less than half the power of the original incarnation of Fat Buu, he was still VASTLY beyond SSJ2 Vegeta. So yeah, sans Vegeta tapping the "you hurt my Bulma!!1!11!" rage-boost we saw in BoG, I don't see him winning.
