We already know that he's back for the movie, actually. It was included in the small credits update on the movie's official website over the weekend.

Oh! Thank you very much! Well, now that that's out of the picture I hope for some good music. Thanks for the quick answer!VegettoEX wrote:We already know that he's back for the movie, actually. It was included in the small credits update on the movie's official website over the weekend.

Was hoping for a better musician than Sumitomo.

Re: Can Anyone Contact Sumitomo about FnF?
You really shouldn't take Dragon Ball Kai as an example of his compositions, as he probably had next to no budget for it. Battle of Gods's score is probably much closer to what this movie's score will be like.

Is the budget really to blame when an artist underperforms on things he/she loves doing?Puto wrote:You really shouldn't take Dragon Ball Kai as an example of his compositions, as he probably had next to no budget for it. I assume that the budget for Dragon Ball: Final Bout and Dragon Ball: Ultimate Battle 22 wasn't really anything special but Yamamoto still managed to produce (or remix) awesome tunes.
Homebrew devs tend to make spectacular apps/features and they get paid nothing for it.

Re: Can Anyone Contact Sumitomo about FnF?
I don't know why you would assume that. Ultimate Battle 22 came at an absolutely booming time for Japan's economy, the video game industry, and the anime industry. Final Bout used a lot of existing tunes as arrangements.dbboxkaifan wrote:I assume that the budget for Dragon Ball: Final Bout and Dragon Ball: Ultimate Battle 22 wasn't really anything special but Yamamoto still managed to produce (or remix) awesome tunes.

You can literally hear the budget differences in the Super Saiyan 3 transformation scene - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qan_lAsbwOY
The initial ones sound like cheap, synthesised and rushed compositions whereas the latter (from Battle of Gods) sound far more grand and complex.

How do you know that he didn't get paid well for Kai? Some of his tracks may sound cheap but his DBZ Kai score is far better than his Battle of Gods one for me. If he didn't get paid well, then he wouldn't be that stupid and work once again for Toei.
Re: Can Anyone Contact Sumitomo about FnF?
I didn't say he wasn't paid well. His budget for a project isn't the same as how much he's paid.TheRed259 wrote:How do you know that he didn't get paid well for Kai? It's no secret that Boo Kai was made quickly and on the cheap. There's definitely some really nice tracks in Boo Kai that would be fantastic if they were performed with a real orchestra. It's just that a majority sound rushed and unfitting to the series which isn't helped by the abysmal placement.

I hope he improves this time around. The Battle of Gods score wasn't anything special. Not bad, but it was nothing more than a generic film score.

I'm really glad Sumitomo is back. His score for BOG was awesome!
The Chosen Warriors, Birth of a Super Saiyan God, Life to be Protected and Indestructible Bills being the standout tracks of the entire score.

Man, I hope he uses his grand style of composition more often, he can do great if he throws the synths xDLord Beerus wrote:I'm really glad Sumitomo is back. His score for BOG was awesome!

but I would really like a score like this for a db movie, especially because of Freeza's imperial tendencies.

Re: Can Anyone Contact Sumitomo about FnF?
First of all, the fact that it may sound cheap has to do with the skill of the artist himself. If the budget that Toei gave to Sumitomo did offend him, then he wouldn’t do the job from the start. I don’t believe that he simply doesn’t care about his music and his career because Toei didn’t pay him well or whatever.
I accept that Sumitomo did the job really quick but I can’t believe that an artist like him doesn’t care about his own works. I am sure that he has his own pride.

I like those, but I don't know. They don't stand out at all. Like I said, it just feels like generic movie music to me.Lord Beerus wrote:I'm really glad Sumitomo is back. His score for BOG was awesome!

No, they don't seem generic movie music, the style is much more different,Chronic_mcduffin wrote:I like those, but I don't know. They don't stand out at all. Like I said, it just feels like generic movie music to me.Lord Beerus wrote:I'm really glad Sumitomo is back. His score for BOG was awesome!

This, is generic movie music.

That OMG EPIC SAUCE used in trailers. We shouldn't even call it generic because we would be hypocrites, as the original Z score sounded pretty much like most scores of that time (or earlier). And everyone loved it.

VegettoEX @ I was thinking about the western's European release because back then I didn't really see or hear anything except between the colleagues I had. I still remember one of them involved a conversation with Final Bout but can't remember the rest of it.
Budokai 3 and Tenkaichi 3 were when it really brought back the franchise back to its feet.

Anything in BOG level, or better, is fine for me.
There are great soundtracks there.
