You can replenish by charging ki, however the more you do this the less effective it is. Can I ask why you feel it is important that the gauge be rechargeable though ? My theory is vitality should be managed correctly. Go around blasting ki attacks like your on a rampage and your vitality will be shot pretty much handing you the loss. This requires proper management and executing attacks at the correct moment to be effective, it should also help stop spamming as using the same attack over and over will have heavy consequences.
The concern over the game being campy is a good point though, but then again whats to stop you getting ahead in health in older titles and just playing keep away the whole match. Saying that comparing one bad example to another isn't a good defense lol. There would have to be some way to encourage offensive action and discourage playing in a cowardly way.

The pros of having a health and ki bar mean that the battle system has more balance. Even if you take damage from an opponent's strong ki attack, you could still have more ki than them. So even if you have less health, you can have more energy and retaliate. Can an opponent that has dealt damage run and play keep away to avoid taking damage themself? Sure, but since the ki bars are independent of health, it's easier to give chase and try to punish them since you can still be on an equal footing in terms of combat capability, even if your health is lower.
Just having the one bar makes for a severely unbalanced playing field, likely ending with a lot of campy play (depending on the type of players playing, as not everyone has the same play style). For example, you take offensive action and end up getting beat up. You now have less health and ki than your opponent. Even if you attempt to recharge it, it becomes less effective the more you use it. So that option is less beneficial the more the match progresses. This all give your opponent the upperhand, and they no longer want to engage in combat in order to avoid taking damage. All they have to do is run out the clock. You also become wary of taking any action, because you now have less ki for defense or future attacks, and if you try to attack, you may get beat up again or make a mistake and leave yourself wide open to get punished. Thus putting you at and even larger disadvantage, and making a comeback more unlikely. And this is just one potential scenario.
IMO, even a DBZ simulator doesn't need to be an EXACT representation of the series. A two bar minimum system is ideal to me, it just needs to be reworked with how it functions.

Fair call. Maybe my system would work paired with an aggression bar or something like that which goes up with attacks. The higher the aggression is the less your vitality bar drains and the less damage you take, however if you're just standing still or defending your aggression bar will drop to low levels where you take a lot more damage from attacks and also deal less and maybe even lose vitality slowly.
I just feel like the show didn't really have a focus on health. It was more about your energy level which was representative of your ki. You could be perfectly healthy but out of ki if say you gave all your energy to another fighter. I dont know would just like a change, which Xenoverse is kind of doing with the whole defense bar I guess.

I think they've handled the transformations for the non-Saiyan races just fine. We've at least got Kaio-ken, and potentially some kind of "unlock potential" transformation which is really more than they needed to add for races who don't transform (aside from Freeza's race which doesn't work the same way with transformations).
I am hoping the "unlock potential" thing turns out to be a separate option instead of Kaio-ken. That'd be nice.

Remember that in the Jump Festa trailer Gohan transforms into mystic (without changing his looks, only the hair a bit), they can recycle that for us.Saiga wrote:I think they've handled the transformations for the non-Saiyan races just fine. Yeah, and in the past DIMPS usually had kid Gohan and Kuririn use the Guru power up as a separate transformation. The fact that Kuririn has a form like that makes me hopeful Xenoverse will preserve it and use it for CaCs as well.pitrako wrote:Remember that in the Jump Festa trailer Gohan transforms into mystic (without changing his looks, only the hair a bit), they can recycle that for us.Saiga wrote:I think they've handled the transformations for the non-Saiyan races just fine. Super Vegeta and Super Vegeta 2 are basically SSJ and SSJ2, but with slightly different stats.

No, the in-game description says something like that.pitrako wrote:They said that in the streaming?Saiga wrote:Vegeta's Super Saiyan forms favour ki attacks ovrr physical attacks.

Don't they also have a different animation from the regular versions?

I do believe my concern still stands. Kaioken can be used by anyone. Including Saiyans. It's a question of whether or not it can be used in conjunction with Super Saiyan since both abilities use two different ability tabs. If they can be used together, that gives Saiyans the highest power advantage of any race. And I do believe Earthlings get at least SSJ1 since they're supposed to be descended from Saiyans (like Gohan, Goten, etc.)Saiga wrote:I think they've handled the transformations for the non-Saiyan races just fine. I don't think Unlocked Potential or Mystic will be a thing for Created Characters as far as "transformations" or "Upgrades" since they're trying to make it out as if Kaioken will cover it as a blanket move for all Races. Majin and Arcosian (FC) may have something labeled a a "Transformation", but all they've said is that only SSJ will have any Visible change on your character when active. Which is a bit disappointing.

Hopefully that's the least Dimps can do is having the human characters have Ultimate/EKUA(I now prefer that title) forms.

I know. However it was stated in the interview that Saiyans were the only ones with a Transformation. SSJ takes up an Ultimate slot and it remains active until the Ki bar reaches 0. However, Kaioken is in in the Supers tab and it gradually drains the Stamina bar as opposed to the Ki bar. The problem comes if both abilities can be used simultaneously.pitrako wrote:Kaioken is a Super whereas SSJ (and Super Vegeta) is an Ultimate.
