When was Goten conceved?

Well, naturally, they had Saiyan appetites within them. It's kinda funny, looking at post-pregnancy Bulma for the first time in episode 126 and Chichi in the Bojack feature, neither of them look like they just recently gave birth. Let that be a lesson to the fangirls out there, find yourselves a decent, pureblood Saiya-jin. :P

I always assumed that Saiyajin pregnancy was the same length as human pregnancy, since Gohan's 4 years old after 5 years. Not to mention, it'd be weird if you didn't know your baby was half alien, and it didn't come out at around 9 months.

But Goku and Chichi are hicks. :D

If you go by Movie 8 logic, after about a year, Chichi still doesn't look pregnant, Goten hasn't been born yet, and Chibi Trunks looks exactly the same!

Now that you mention it, besides the ending of Movie 11 (yes it exists and its purpose is the following), you never really see the present trunks as a toddler. It goes from Baby to Kid to teen to GT. Same with Goten.

That just means it took a while for ChiChi to catch Goku.

Besides, it makes perfect sense from the 'warrior race' standpoint. What's the bonus of having a long pregnancy that puts you completely out of action for nearly a year?

My theory:

Saiyans are in their fetal stage in nine months, just like humans.
But saiyan sperm is strong and smart, and after ChiChi learned Goku the "procedure" which probably took three months (since Goku doesn't seem to have a libido in his early twenty years), the impregnation went pretty fast, like in one day. The sperm found it's way fast. And everything after that went "normal".

Maybe if it was a saiyan woman, it would take less than nine months, but I don't think that a human could take all that strain on the body.

I don't see a reason why saiyan kids would stay in the womb for less than nine months. I believe Goten was born too early (maximum 2 months, otherwise the baby won't make it) and that it makes him six years old since he hasn't celebrated his seventh year yet, but that they see him as seven nontheless, since he's so close to the age or something.
I know, it sounds a little farfetched, but anyways, I demand that it'll do as an explanation.

Goku has a libido alright, he just experienced it later on. Being innocent and pure hearted doesn't exclude ones sexual instincts. There's nothing that's naughty by concieving a child, it's actually one of the most beatiful things there is.
Oh, I think I might've stepped over the border.
Good people last longer!

Yeah, I never understood why people found it so hard to believe for Gokuh. There's nothing un-innocent about having sex. It really just depends on what kind of person you are. It's not like he has to think dirty thoughts....

Anyway, my bad. Less about the HOW, more about the WHEN.

Alright, my comment on Goku's "innocence."

He still has hormones! Having sex is as natural as eating, and you've seen how much Goku eats!

Okay, now I've crossed the border.

I gotta say, Veshira, for a guy with hormones, Goku very rarely espresses the emotions of that trait. Heck, even Gohan got...a strange sound effect and look on his face after seeing Videl's haircut. Maybe Goku's libido was effected after the infant head-bump?

You're right about Goku not expressing his sexuality, but that's probably cause he didn't know what it was. Maybe no one ever told him, or he was given very little information and opportunity.

However, now married to Chichi, he now has someone who you'd expect would want to get intimate with him, since that's a normal thing for (happily) married people to do eventually.

I mean, I'm sure Goku loves fighting and food more than sex. He doesn't seem to mind keeping away from Chichi for 7 years (at least for those reasons), yet the first thing he thinks about (in filler) after he dies is food. Goku even needs to eat so much that he eats clouds!

I don't mean to get too into this, but most people like a bunch of other things than they like sex. For example, I'd rather sleep than have sex, cause sleep good. (At least until I can't sleep anymore. ^^; )

Wait, but sleep is more important than sex. You can die without sleep. :? Well, you know what I mean!

I agree with Piccolo-san, somewhat.

And, about Goku's hormones, libido, etc...

The eternal answer is not "They're cartoon characters," or "He has them but he doesn't express them."

It's that Chi-Chi had to lure him with a sandwich to consider having a child. >.>;

An episode of Shin Chan gave me an idea for how it worked in making Gohan. Or maybe it was just because of the same voice actress that made me think like that.

The best part about what you said would be the next episode because they would play the recap music and the announcer would shout "SON GOKU" and such..

Anyway, the word "lure" used in that phrase takes it to an all new level of the bizarre and twisted  ..
