You are exactly right to say that and I remember the ps2 era as the golden age of DBZ games not that they were perfect BUT AT THE TIME they were absolutely great.Quebaz wrote:Yet RB sold worse, and it got a sequel. And it is a step up, for the first time after the PS2-Era, it seems like we're finally getting a "Complete" DBZ game for once instead of a side-show fighting game with no personality.Careless Saiyajin wrote:Xenoverse looks like it's shaping up to be a real recovery and step up for the dragon ball gaming world. After spending half the day rotating between College HW and thinking if I still want to get this game or not, I've decided that I will get it.
Yup, I caved. Here I come DLC...
I'll just re-sell that Steelbook case that I pre-ordered from GameStop on eBay or something and hope that that pays off the DLC.

People where claiming that the DLC is cut from the game because 2 of the characters had listings in the network test? Really? A listing is just a listing, there is no proof that the animations, attacks, models and sounds are there.

Funny thing is that GT Trunks wasn't in the datamine either but he's in first DLC pack. So if anything, it shows that there was nothing set in stone about who was going the make the roster or not. Eis and Nuova Shenron were also in the datamine and yet Omega Shenron was revealed in the game before them and characters like Goten weren't found in the datamin but were revealed in the game. The datamine is not a definitive list about who was in the game.ArchedThunder wrote:People where claiming that the DLC is cut from the game because 2 of the characters had listings in the network test? I'm also certain GT Goten will be in the game especially since GT Trunks made the cut out of nowhere, albeit through DLC.TheGmGoken wrote:Please God let GT Goten be in. I'm will buy this game for PC, Ps3, and Ps4 if he's in.

To be fair, Trunks was more relevant than Goten in GT. What did Goten do? Get possessed... and... yeah...Lord Beerus wrote:I'm also certain GT Goten will be in the game especially since GT Trunks made the cut out of nowhere, albeit through DLC.TheGmGoken wrote:Please God let GT Goten be in. It's not saying much though considering GT was pretty much a Goku wankfest.DarkPrince_92 wrote:To be fair, Trunks was more relevant than Goten in GT.

Well Goten and Trunks did take on Super 17 and Omega Shenron. Albeit briefly until Goku came and they, along with all the other Z-Fighters, bowed before his presence of his almighty hax power ups.DBZAOTA482 wrote:It's not saying much though considering GT was pretty much a Goku wankfest.DarkPrince_92 wrote:To be fair, Trunks was more relevant than Goten in GT.

True. But usually when I think of GT, I see the Goku/Pan/Trunks trio and SSJ4. Usually what you would see on all the old GT promotion art back in the day. I mean, why include Pan? She's more useless than Goten. But, she's the a third of the trio than makes GT which is why I think they'd even consider her.DBZAOTA482 wrote:It's not saying much though considering GT was pretty much a Goku wankfest.DarkPrince_92 wrote:To be fair, Trunks was more relevant than Goten in GT.

I think it would be wise to erase any cliches that happen in GT for this. Events are going to play much differently here than they normally did. Even if GT had a lot of "Goku Time", your here in the story too. We are seen fighting Bebi with the Nyoi Bo so its possible Goku gets taken down and you gotta fight in his place.

Atari had nothing to do with the making of the major console DBZ games. They publish them in the US and that was it. The US got the games early because they work out a deal on the license with Bandai Japan. Things would be different if Bandai America had the publish rights in the US instead of Atari. Legacy of Goku 1-3, Sagas, GT Transformation, Taiketsu and Collectible Card Game were the only DBZ games that Atari had any part of since they were made with a North American market in mind.DBZAOTA482 wrote:Of course, Atari left us when RB came. 1) Just watching? Like, no pushing buttons or finding ways to make the application? I'm trying to quantify all the things you'd be looking for for that long! Ugggggh.voltlunok wrote:The worst horror stories I could give you are the following. One of the projects in PTD at the time was a big update to the DSi OS. This meant we had to test everything and make sure it all worked. There was a team of 10 sad souls who had to test and make sure everything went well with the 'Clocks and Calendar' application. For a month and a half these 10 brave souls had to watch a clock and check and fiddle with a digital calendar. They came out changed people.BlazingFiddlesticks wrote:Game testing being a thankless job coupled with Nintendo of America supposedly being an awful place to work in recent years, ouch, my sympathies.voltlunok wrote:(Did testing for Nintendo as a contractor...not as glamorous a job as you think it is.)
My own personal horror story was testing a VoD channel for the Wii for the EU for them to watch Kirby! Right back at ya! For 3 months I watched the same 50 episodes of this show...in dub. It was grusome...A part of me died.
Not much a horror story but my first project was Metroid Other M. That was a hoot.
2) And it would never even come out in the States!
3) Do tell, if the memory is there!

Not just DBZ games, but games in general. Once the 360 and PS3 came about and Online Play started becoming the norm, it led to the explosion and ultimate exploitation of DLC, which has now become a blight on the games industry that seeks to rob us of as much of our income as it possibly can. The PS2 was the golden age. It had online functionality, but was never worth the time or effort to do and none of the games besides a few choice MMO's playable on the PS2 even required it.Careless Saiyajin wrote:You are exactly right to say that and I remember the ps2 era as the golden age of DBZ games not that they were perfect BUT AT THE TIME they were absolutely great.

They have never stopped impressing me with how much effort they put forth into this game. The models especially look way better than Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit. I mean look at this!

The coloring and shading are what stood out to me. Even with a lot of story content, stages, CaC, and roster, they managed to go extra mile on the character models. Namco Bandai was very willing to put all of their money into this game, so I hope you guys will support the release, despite it having DLC in the near future.
