He's not talking about level-progress here tho. A Training Mode to be able to toy around with every character is essential in these types of games, specialy in this one since your CaC can have so many specials, you'd want to be able to try them out before heading to a battle.
DBZAOTA482 wrote:Ever heard of "Easy to learn, hard to master"? That's how Dimps described this game.
I was given the impression he was talking about getting better at the game, which you can through playing missions while getting items at the same time. He didn't mention anything about trying out moves or toying with other characters.

Of course I'm a bit disappointed with the overall roster, but I can understand why it is what it is (outside of base preteen Gohan and maybe Imperfect Cell). Not having access to the Time Breaker trio is the only thing that actually irritates me though. 1/3 of my hype was for them being included as new, playable blood. :/
He's a modder. He unlocked everything through hacks.
People can still practice in Xenoverse by just doing 1P vs CPU battles in vs mode. I think what people want is a Tutorial mode to explain how things work. However there is no need to make that into a separate mode. As you begin the Story Campaign with your CaC, you are put through a tutorial on how to move, execute specials and combos. Pretty much everything is covered at the very beginning as Time Patrol Trunks tests the player. So the Tutorial is essentially the Prologue of the Story Campaign.
Overall Practice Mode was no different than Vs mode, except you can't die in Practice. Removing the Practice Mode doesn't really affect the game. You can still select and look up all the characters moves in vs mode and repeat battles as many times as you see fit in order to better learn the mechanics and controls. So looking at it as a whole, there's no real loss to the game.

Funny how some comments (and sometimes reviewers) will be offended that Goku does a Genki Dama in Super Saiyan (or more).
The fact that he wouldn't be able to do it as a Super Saiyan was never once stated in the manga, it was invented by the show for Movie 7 if I'm correct.
Cell - who is far from having a pure heart at peace - even states he can absolutely perform the Genki Dama if he wants to.
But then, you might say the game is supposed to be based on the TV anime, not the manga, so...
But I still find it a bit extreme sometimes when it's like "you/they don't know your/their stuff if you/they think Goku can do a Genki Dama in Super Saiyan, what a blatant mistake".
When it's actually likely that in the original manga, Goku can. It just so happens that he usually resorts to the Genki Dama (energy of others) when he can't rely on his own energy anymore, having not enough left to even transform...
But again, in the manga, it is never stated once that the Genki Dama requires a "pure heart" and is incompatible with a Super Saiyan's would-be "evil heart".
It was really first invented by the anime for Movie 7, wasn't it? And now fans take for granted that it's supposed to be that way, otherwise, "you obviously don't know anything about DB". Well, sometimes I wanna say: "do you?"

How am I gonna practice my combos if the opponent keeps trying to attack me/teleporting out of the way/not standing still? Vs CPU is there for what-if battles or a quick-fix match, not to as the name implies: practice.

Easy Mode kinda fixes that. They're not tough and it's not much help to wail on a dummy when you're going to be fighting moving targets at the end of the day. But I guess if you wanted to solve that issue, put it on 2P 1v1 match and just leave the 2nd player idle so you can beat on it. Not having a Practice mode isn't much of a loss. I always felt that getting comfortable beating on an unmoving dummy left you getting beaten by anything that could fight back. So, really, just playing Story Mode or fighting in Vs mode is the better way to go.

Dragon Ball: Xenoverse is not perfect, but perfectly plays its role. This is a good start to present this new concept and atmosphere online, to create further franchise. The fun is there, the fights are titanic, the community responds now, everything has been done to have a good time. Nevertheless, when a Dragon Ball open world, without restriction? Or just zoning back when a lot line is broken to bring even more dynamism? In short, it is time to focus only on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, gentlemen developers ...

I'm aware he's a modder, but he outright said the game data wasn't stored the exact same way as in the beta and that he needed a bit more time to figure things out. If he was just unlocking everything he could currently have available via hacking at the time, SS4 Vegeta should have been an easy inclusion.
Could he be lying? Sure, but being a modder doesn't automatically make him one.

Direct translations of the Korean DB Online timeline and guidebook.
My personal "canon" and BP list. (Coming Soon)
Just to make the Gamergen translation a bit better than Google's translation for the final statements summing up everything.
WHAT'S GOOD:
- Expressive faces, moves look good, light effects are impressive.
- A huge amount of hours to spend on it.
- Progressive difficulty.
- Everything about characters' customization.
- Easy to play for anyone.
- Secondary missions online with a bunch of friends.
- Delirious stuff with players in Toki Toki City.
- Six fighters online, in a nutshell: delightful!
WHAT'S BAD:
- The opening has to be a joke, right?
- Environmental interactions are ridiculous.
- Secondary missions lack some sound effects.
- Transformations are for the Saiyans only.
- Reloading your Ki requires a skill.
The reviewer is convinced that the multiplatform aspect held back the production and is responsible for a certain number of the flaws mentionned.
As a consequence, he urges the developers to just forget about the last generation on the next Dragon Ball game, as it is really time to focus on Xbox One and PS4 as the minimum required for any upcoming game and any player.

Perfectly fair and good review. He also rated the game a 15/20. Basically, a 3.75/5.
But...
It lacks some noises in the side missions
Um... what?
I know Google translate is very hit and miss but that doesn't sound right.
I also love how the reviewer specifically singled out charging ki as a skill as negative. Not that necessarily isn't, but I love how specific that negative was.

Nope.
Well that's a giant pile of Oozaru shit. What kind of fighting game doesn't have a training mode? Even Ultimate Tenkaichi had one and that's hardly a fighting game.
Dimps is giving me more and more reasons to drop this game. How can they do this to us?
I'm sure glad I don't make video games, sheesh. Don't get me wrong, everyone is entitled to their own opinions and specific options they look for in a game. But to imply that you are thinking about dropping the game because it does not have a practice mode seems a little extreme.
There are ways they've incorporated practice within the game as mentioned earlier in addition to a plethora of positive attributes that more than make up for incorporating a practice mode.
Again, not shooting down your opinion, just my observation. I don't even like fighting games, but love DBZ. When I first learned they were making yet another fighting game, I was very disappointed.
But after learning more and more about the game, my recent PS4 purchase was essentially tied to it pending release. The game has a whole lot of good things going for it and definitely needs our support so the next game includes everything that might've been absent from this one.
Not a bad review, some of the "Bad" I don't agree with but whatever to each their own.

Totally agree with this. The last gen consoles are holding us back and they really need to be tossed aside for good. I don't care what people say "I don't wanna pay for ps+"
"I don't have the money for a new console", we need to move on dammit so stop holding us back...

I agree with all the negatives here. In some videos, when playing a Paralel Quest, there are parts where music doesn't even play or some voices are played too down so It's kinda of a valid complaint. Ki Charging being a super and only Saiyans having transformation has been of my complaints since the start.

I'm not dropping the game. I'm still very much looking forward to it but no practice mode is a pretty low blow for me.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

I'm just about done with the concept of reboots and making shows that were products of their time and impactful "new and sexy" and in line with modern tastes and sensibilities. Let stuff stay in their era and give today's kids their own shit to watch.
I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.
