It's a little comic Toriyama drew back in 1996 or thereabouts talking about how he's doing now that DB has stopped running in Jump, the upcoming GT TV series, and the upcoming movie featuring the latest technology (ie the 10th anniversary movie/Path to Power). It's a neat look back into history , but obviously not related to this current movie at all.Retan wrote:What is this ScholarGohan?

That's literally the lamest response someone can give. Just cause we don't know, we should shut up about the clear issues they are showing. Hell we have one of the new character minions, killed off in an instant...yeah...I love new characters with potential just being dolls to show how evil Freeza is. Even though we know he'd do that beforehand as he had in his prominent arc. This guy is on the poster, and is murdered casually as well as tossing anything that could have been done with the character.bleed0range wrote:Well, we don't know everything. They may not want to explain anything because the movie will explain it when it's ya know, actually out! Freeza had his time, but that doesn't mean he can't have some character development. The idea of a villain training to become powerful is unique, because they never do that in the series. That's usually Goku's role. Also, someone who is more of a prodigy then Goku... that's new too... and it could have a lot of interesting ideas born from it. If you're open to it, but you don't seem to be. You've already made up your mind that Freeza can not have any further development and anything having to do with him is just unoriginal.
Villain training to become more powerful....um...Piccolo anyone? He trained before the Tenkaichi Budokai, and after it to kill Goku.
The half breeds and Oob are all more prodigies than Goku. That's not new at all.
I am open to ideas if they are done for the sake of furthering something. Minus is the definition of doing the exact opposite. Guess who wrote all that? I believe Toriyama can do good, but also bad. I've seen cool ideas, but also ideas that aren't polished to fit into his manga. It's more ideas he thinks are cool, so he'll do them.

It was recently posted in the 2Ch thread which, I'm guessing, is why he/she posted it here.Herms wrote:It's a little comic Toriyama drew back in 1996 or thereabouts talking about how he's doing now that DB has stopped running in Jump, the upcoming GT TV series, and the upcoming movie featuring the latest technology (ie the 10th anniversary movie/Path to Power). A "small, but cunning" bad guy who's not physically powerful but has knowledge which makes him dangerous, and who travels around with a tall strongman who acts as his bodyguard. Together they travel to Earth to revive a powerful villain who was famous back in the old days but has been gone a long time. Once revived, the old bad guy kills the short guy's supposedly super-strong bodyguard almost immediately.
Babidi, much?
Exactly, everything is being thrown out, even the entirely new transformation just so we can have base and Super Saiyan do the job. It's like Toriyama just wants to throw out everything introduced in the Cell and Buu Arcs, so we can have it like it was in the Freeza Arc. Every new DB story from his just has to be related to Freeza and Saiyans somehow, rather than doing something else.dbzfan7 wrote:Predictable no. Also Goku becoming a saiyan god doesn't sound much different to me than SSJ(Insert number past 4 here). Also the form seemingly being done away with after one movie doesn't give SSJ God much of a good light. If anything it's like they wanted it gone as quick as it came. Toriyama even said he pictured the climax as SSJ Goku and Beerus, which makes it seem like he didn't want the god form to stick around. I hope SSJ God form doesn't just get tossed away though.
It just gives more fuel to the people who claim he wanted to end it at the Freeza Arc.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
I'm actually strarting to pull for Freeza to win this.
And I actually think he might do it... we see in one picture Goku down, and beat up, Vegeta and Piccolo seem more interested in something else or not interested in the news at all. Gohan seems to have lost tremendous power for one reason or another, and Goten and Trunks are nowhere to be seen (Sorry GMGoken
) 18 wouldn't be much of a problem for Freeza if he reaches where he thinks he can go. Beerus might be sleeping or preparing for someone else, and if Whis doesn't get involved.
Long live the old Emperor of the Universe!!!!

I've always just assumed that English isn't his first language but he still wants to contribute news whenever he finds it. That's my guess, but I'm putting words in peoples' mouths.Big Momma wrote:You know, it'd be really great if you would give some context or comments whenever you posted stuff, so we might have some idea of what it is we're looking at/clicking on. Anyway, the new blog entry. I'm excited to hear that Piccolo has a big role this time around, I'm sure almost anything will beat being jabbed by chopsticks and falling unconcious.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Well Piccolo Jr was cooler than Daimao, but the his arc had some stumbles. For me God vs Piccolo and the finale we're the best parts. However the arc did a much better job catering to characters, than anything more of the recent stuff does.Retan wrote:So you didn't like the Piccolo Saga? Or you just hate Freeza?
Also no I love Freeza, however he lived up to his moment. I liked the evil emperor who was terrified of the Super Saiyan legend. I love how he goes from calm, collected, and strangely polite, to an angry psychopath. His ends were fitting. He was put down by the thing he feared most. Now that he's back and he pretty much coulda trained a week to solve his problems, that really makes him out to be a lazy dipshit who was scared of nothing. "Oh no the most powerful warrior in the universe. He might be stronger than me. I don't want to have to lift a finger to actually train...a week....oooo the madness."
My point was the things he said were original, are not. Piccolo is a villain who trained, and the half breeds and Oob are people who are bigger prodigies than Goku.
I don't know about that, but it seems like SSJ God may just be a stupid power up so Toriyama could change the status quo of forms. Kinda like an in universe retcon to transformation logic so things like SSJ2 and SSJ3 are no longer needed. Not sure that makes sense entirely. Though it's not like we can't have SSJ God be the form they take instead of SSJ forms. That could have been a thing...but it seems they want to toss out the entire form in general. SSJ God might just be a games only thing from now on.dbgtFO wrote:Exactly, everything is being thrown out, even the entirely new transformation just so we can have base and Super Saiyan do the job. This was already addressed like two days ago. He's Korean and didn't have any much exposure to English. For anything significant to count as a conversation, you'd be relying on Google to translate anything he'd say (that isn't copy-paste'd from somewhere). I'm sure you've seen what Google does to Japanese content people try to translate for stuff, like for the new movie here before Herms or Julian get a chance to do it proper. It's worse for Korean.Big Momma wrote:You know, it'd be really great if you would give some context or comments whenever you posted stuff, so we might have some idea of what it is we're looking at/clicking on. Be happy that we get new DragonBall. You can't always get things done your way.dbzfan7 wrote:This is Toriyama. The guy cares more about fun ideas and utilizing them, over careful care with such things as continuity. The guy is known for shortcuts and being lazy. I admire that to a degree, but loathe what happens because no one is there to pick up that slack. Also my answer to that is, probably. Toriyama does what he wants more than what might make sense. Hence betraying expectation. However he does ideas for the sake he wants to, and I doubt cares a whole lot to try and fact check anything. Hell hence the meme "Beerus did it" was born from just shoving him in places he didn't belong, because he likes the idea over making it work. Most of his recent answers about characters can be argued he just pulled out of his ass. Not that they're bad, but really a lot of new tidbits can literally be just something he randomly thought up, over something more character driven
Relax and wait till the movie comes out.

So we should just accept anything new because its "New DB". Yeah I hate that claim sorry. Just because it's new doesn't make it good.

It depends.rereboy wrote:Just because you disagree with their reasons it doesn't mean they aren't valid.
The new one is Freeza's training which I don't get cause we've seen time and again characters getting a lot stronger then they were in short periods of time so why is just a problem now ?

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Its a problem because it makes Freeza look incredibly lazy and stupid for not training for a month before going to Earth after his defeat, especially if he knew that he could improve tremendously by training. And it also makes his fear of SSJ seem more like a fear of having to train more than anything else.sintzu wrote:What are the reasons ?rereboy wrote:Just because you disagree with their reasons it doesn't mean they aren't valid.

Now, if Freeza didn't know he could improve tremendously because he never had hard training and the whole concept is foreign and insulting for him and his father since they always were that naturally strong and their "training" always revolved on just better controlling and handling their immense power... That could work. It would still make him look kind of lazy and stupid but at least it would be understandable.

The problem with all the negativity here is how loud all of the dissenters are being about it. You can barely make one comment about something being interesting before someone swoops in and proclaims 'NOPE, THIS IS SHIT, THAT IS SHIT, THIS IS TOTALLY GONNA BE SHIT, SHIT SHIT SHITTY-SHIT-SHIT'. And that gets old. Fast.

Yes, negativity is always unwelcome on a topic. Criticisms can be made without being too negative.Gyt Kaliba wrote:The problem with all the negativity here is how loud all of the dissenters are being about it.
