Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is really the best game ever made?
A lot of people say that DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is in fact the best game ever made of the franchise, I kinda agree... Some may say that Budokai 3 is better, whatever (Not played Xenoverse yet to put on the par)
But Tenkaichi 3 had its flaws:
- Most of characters were already unlocked (I liked better when you have to do various things to unlock most of character list back in Tenkaichi 2)
- Poor Story Mode (That was something really disappointing, Tenkaichi 3 could had the best story mode ever made by a DBZ game! We had enough characters to do all the Dragon Ball Saga before Z! And all that thing to skip fights by pressing R3 was well-made and then we could had more fights in just only one chapter unlike Tenkaichi 2 that was pretty full and repetitive)
- Poor Soundtrack (Tenkaichi 2 had a good soundtrack and where plenty of tracks I don't know how they could degree on that in the sequel)
- Lack of some Stages (Stages like Otherworld Arena, Tuffle Planet, Cell Games (night) and New Vegeta would be welcome to the game)
- Few Quotes
- Damage characters clothes or body/Planet Destruction (They changed that which was pretty good in Tenkaichi 2)
- More developed Sim Dragon mode, one of the most fun modes in the game
With all that would make the game be my favorite for ages, it really was a pretty good game but with something to put there, something to put here would make the game far better than it was

I don't think so. Budokai 3 is the best for me. That game did almost everything right. It had a cool story mode with plenty of replay value, the fighting mechanics were stylized and authentic but still rock solid (not to mention a huuu~uuge improvement over the first two Budokai games), the graphics and cinematics were and are still nice as hell, and the soundtrack was memorial though not as good as the first one's. It's the only DBZ game that I was fully committed to completing twice.
There's also Shin Budokai - Another Road, Infinite World (it's story mode sucked too but it made up for the refined core fighting mechanics from previous Budokai games), and BT2 (which has worse mechanics but it's better in almost every other way). BT3's definitely in my Top 5, though.

Huuh. Budokai 3's soundtrack had like 99% of B1 and B2's music.DBZAOTA482 wrote:and the soundtrack was memorial though not as good as the first one's.
The only drawback was that you couldn't choose manually the track you wanted to fight in. Only Spike's games allow you to do that.

That's a option that I would appreciate in Budokai series, I loved most of the soundtrack, a option that you could change the track before the battles would be niceNightstar1994 wrote:Huuh. That automatically makes it's soundtrack inferior.

I'm inclined to agree with DBZAOTA482 that Budokai 3 is the best Dragon Ball Z game ever made. It was just the total package. Great story mode, great mechanics, great soundtrack, and if you got the limited edition version of the game, great extras as well.

BT3 was ok. I liked BT2 better for the soundtrack and some minor gameplay tweaks, but I got plenty of hours of enjoyment out of the third game too.

Budokai 3, Xenoverse, Legends, Super Butoden 2, Legacy of Goku, Super Saiya Densetsu, Advance Adventure and Super Gokuden: Kakusei-Hen are still the best DBZ games to me.

Budokai 1/2 had Challengers, my favorite DBZ game theme ever. I know it's plagiarized but I don't careDBZAOTA482 wrote:But it lacks these songs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykiu53O4LMo, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ciRq131KUKE, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZZeOh2DL7M, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBHKdD0a9_Q, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDF2ictfsEY, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odADmn30xPo, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d21Q2-m2nTc, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12WIC4wTNfM, and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ciRq131KUKE.Nightstar1994 wrote:Huuh. I can separate B3 and BT3 in two modes:
BT3 = Best DBZ fight simulator
B3 = Best fighting game
BT3 = Best DBZ fight simulator
B3 = Best fighting game
Re: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is really the best game ever made?
It's not even the best game Spike has made, that title goes to either BT2 or RB1.

When it comes to the gameplay, then BT3 gives me exactly what I want: a fast, agile and aerial experience that feels like the show. Nothing stunting the speed. That's usually the only thing I still care about and why I've grown quite apathetic towards anything else.

Actually, in-game, the game uses just 2 battle tracks from Budokai 1/2 while 2 used 2 3rds of 1's battle tracks. The Story Mode does use the entirity of B1's score, but it adds some new tracks as well. Infinite World was like a "The Best of" tho, including most songs from every Budokai game and Burst Limit while adding a few new ones as well.Nightstar1994 wrote:Huuh. On-topic: Not for me no, I mean, It gets a lot of points for all the content it gives you, be it characters or stages and some of its modes are pretty fun (say what you will, I LOVE Sim Dragon), but it just kinda falls flat. The Story Mode is really barebones, specially when they finally had the opportunity due to the enourmous character roster they just skip a ton of battles and the what-ifs aren't really that interesting compared to the ones we got in BT2 (tho C-8 vs C-16 was pretty cool), the tournament mode is a hit-and-miss due to the timer and how it bascially fucks you over if you want to unlock something however the different dificulty settings and special conditions were really nice. a lot of little gameplay details were better in BT2 as well, the destruction happened more frequently and if you transformed nearby a derby, it would get destroyed which just doesn't happen in BT3.
It is still a good game if you just want to pick your favourite characters, mash it out against the AI or your friends and have a good time, but that's just it because everything else was done better in BT2.
I will always prefer Super DBZ, Budokai 3/Shin Budokai 2, Ultimate Butouden and now Xenoverse over it though.
I always hated that term but you nerds have made me grow fond of it.Kakarot9001 wrote:I can separate B3 and BT3 in two modes:

Re: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is really the best game ever made?
BT3 is still the best for me, but I haven't given enough time to Xenoverse yet. I see a lot of potential on Xenoverse, even though there are a few things I dislike in gameplay as of now (and I hate toki toki city as a hub for the game modes...)
Regarding Story mode, for me the BT3 story mode is so far among the best ones I played so far. It's true it lacks a lot of fights, but the ones it does, it does very well, with a lot of what if possibilities in each fight. BT2 story mode was fun to play once, but after that it becomes very tiresome, and the fights are no different than the normal vs ones.
Regarding the music, I like the japanese soundtrack so, the japanese release in my opinion has the best music. My only problem is that I would have liked if they had way more songs from the show.

BT3 and Budokai 3 will always be equal, but they're the best in the franchise.

Re: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is really the best game ever made?
Since (when it comes to Dragon Ball) I prefer traditional fighting games to those with 3rd person perspective, I would never consider any Tenkaichi-style game the best game of the franchise. That 'honor' would go to either Budokai 3 or Burst Limit.
Re: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is really the best game ever made?
Budokai 3 is the best 2D Fighting DBZ game sure, but the best 3D fighting DBZ game is Tenkaichi 3. If they could incorporate some of the fighting elements of Tenkaichi 3 into Xenoverse, man would the best. Definitely my most favorite element is when you dodge a physical attack the right way, and your opponent will do half a dozen punches and kicks, and you bob and weave them all before hitting your opponent into the air: That, should have been in Xenoverse
Re: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is really the best game ever made?
I agree for nothing more than the sheer amount of characters.

I can't imagine preferring Dragonrush: The Game over BT3.
A hypothetical B3 without the Hyper Mode/Dragonrush mechanic would be a much closer contender, but eeech.

Re: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is really the best game ever made?
I play Dragon Ball games often and I really can't choose one between BT3, RB1 and RB2. Each one has something the others don't. I'm currently playing RB1 and BT3 (RB2 has a very important problem for me; you can't block CPU transformation, and I always play in vs. mode) and, in general terms, I think BT3 it's the most DBZ polished game.
sadly, to me Xenoverse it's out; the versus it's a total mess; no difficulty level, no time limit option and no transformation blocked at the start.
