If this "form" was a Fan fake/4kids edit people wouldn't be so willing to immediately try and rationalize it, I know that much. I literally don't get how anyone could be so hyped for a tacky reskin. Someone at Toei was just messing around with the colouring tools, hit invert and bam! new form. Now to us, its official so thus it's briliant.Basaku wrote:I'm looking forward to entartaining fan excuses though and how we should praise it regardless how lazy and bad it is just because he's the original creator.fadeddreams5 wrote:Nobody would get used to this Freeza form if it was made by a fan. If that's all you want, then all you want is fanservice, rather than an actual coherent story. And of course those aren't mutually exclusive; you could have a coherent story with "shine" moments! But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.

Probably true. I guess there's this serenity that overcomes you when you know you're just gonna have to deal with it. After your initial negative response, that is.fadeddreams5 wrote:Nobody would get used to this Freeza form if it was made by a fan. Don't say it's growing on you. Y'all hate it.

My initial response was "meh" but after thinking about it as an equal to SSJ, I like it. This is basically like his "super 100%" form.Tyro wrote:Probably true. I get the point that's trying to be raised, but I also don't see why it should be entirely a bad thing to be more accepting of something when it comes to the original author. This fandom's (and a lot of other fandoms in general) willingness to completely turn and hate on the author that created things they presumably like in completely over the top ways is just...sad.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
New trailer was hype as fuck.
But no matter what rationalisations people try to give the whole 1000 mooks thing with the Z-senshi doesn't make sense. Their in an uninhabited area, just do an explosive and get it over with.
As for Freeza's new transformation I'm not impressed in the slightest. One of the great things about DBZ has been villain transformations, they're all so unique varied and badass.
Vegeta turns into a giant ape with space armour
All of Freeza's transformations look intimidating in different ways and his Final form has to be my favourite with its sleek and efficient design.
Cell's transformations are reminisent of an insent evolving into a man.
Majin range from good from goofy nightmare territory to just downright terrifying.
While this Freeza looks like an oscar trophy with some purple.

I would hope that they would as it's a horrible song that should have never have been involved with this franchise but they most likely wouldn't.fadeddreams5 wrote:I really hope Funimation replaces Momoiro Z's song in the dub. I can't imagine anyone appreciating that in this context anywhere besides Japan...
That's why the best possible scenario is that the song plays during the credits so I can turn it off when it ends and not have to hear it.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
For better or worse I'm largely untroubled by Freeza's new design. I might even go so far to say that I like it a little bit. Maybe if his body wasn't completely golden. Y'know, throw a little spice into the mix?mAcChaos wrote:My initial response was "meh" but after thinking about it as an equal to SSJ, I like it. This is basically like his "super 100%" form.

Seriously this is pretty much mocked to death by Sonic fans in general who try to recolour characters. It's embarrassing for me to look at this, and call it cool. Like SSJ God, only the aura is cool. Beyond that it looks like someone messed with photoshop and called it a day. I already posted other images of people basically doing the same thing as this, where they just recoloured everything.SingleFringe&Sparks wrote:If this "form" was a Fan fake/4kids edit people wouldn't be so willing to immediately try and rationalize it, I know that much. Is it that bad to be original? Beerus and Whis look fantastic. This though...no. Freeza's transformations up to Final all had their differences and were worthy. Especially once he turned into his sleek cool final form. That is a welcome change. This is just...bleh. We shouldn't give leeway that stuff like this is ok, or more people will just do recolours instead of something actually good.
Imagine if Zarbon, Freeza (in the past), Cell, and Boo had this kind of treatment. It's lazy and stupid beyond belief.

It does sound like an award, but I don't dislike it. I mentioned earlier it reminded me of shiny versions of pokémon (to which I immediately imagined Vegeta dressed as Satoshi with child!Bura in Pikachu pajamas) and that's about where I am with it.
Possible Vegeta sub-plot with Freeza offering (forcing his hand?) into coming back into the fold is something that grabs my imagination. :3

When that fabulous gold form is revealed and the blatantly out of place and fruity J-pop song for the movie starts playing, my mind immediately went to this:

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Haha, when Chuquita posted that first screencap of Golden Freeza, I logged in, began typing a post... and then stopped, said to myself "I think I'll give this a few hours..." and logged out.
Wow! Okay. What a rush. I'm finally caught up on reading the newest 30 pages (See, people? It's not hard...), so I'll just throw out my thoughts.
- Y'know, I absolutely wouldn't have believed it when this movie was first announced, but I'm starting to think that we might not be getting the full Dragon Ball family this time. Takeshi Kusao's voice credit could very well be for the Future Trunks flashback and nothing else. Is this the kind of stuff Japanese schoolchildren would talk about back when the original DBZ movies were coming out? "Hey, you think Goten will be in this one? What about Kuririn?" I realize that we've already had thirteen Dragon Ball Z movies in which the full cast didn't appear, but the JUMP Special and "Battle Of Gods" have spoiled me. It feels very strange without everybody being together. Maybe they'll all get cameos? I sure hope so.
- It's already been said, but HOT DAMN. Jaco. That shot of him standing with Muten Roshi, Kuririn, Tenshinhan, Gohan, and Piccolo just feels right. How on Earth did we go 30 years without him?
- I guess Jaco is the "certain someone" who breaks the news to Bulma. That should be fun. Maybe they remember each other, and maybe Tights will be mentioned!
- Eh, I'm fine with Golden Freeza. As far as I'm concerned, it makes as much sense as any other transformation in the series. It's not like they were all winners. Super Saiyan 3's design gets stupider and stupider the more I think about it. I'll admit that I was expecting something a little more creative (Beerus and Whis have such good designs, so this movie feels like a step downward by comparison), but I really am fine with it.
- I'll have to listen to more of "Z Oath" before forming an opinion. If there's a decent melody, I'll be satisfied. I enjoyed "Wings Of The Heart" in Kai, just like I enjoyed "Don't You See!" and "Blue Velvet" in GT. Yeah, I'm opposed to Momoiro Clover Z's blatant stunt-casting, but that's the world anime fans have lived in since the 90s. If the song is cool, I'm cool.
- UGH. Look, I can tolerate Sumitomo's music. I can tolerate the J-Pop stunt-casting. I can tolerate some iffy hand-drawn animation. But get those damn CGI characters out of my Dragon Ball. Damn it. This is officially the second entry on my "cons" list (next to the inclusion of "F" as an insert song).
- Not really sure what to make of the trailer's last few moments, but I'm sure it was edited to be intentionally manipulative. The Earth isn't really going to explode, Vegeta's not really going to consider joining Freeza (even for a second), etc. But hey, it's fun for marketing. I am sure of one thing, though. Nozawa's scream at the end was bone-chilling. Holy cow. Gal's still got it.

Who's his Japanese voice in XenoVerse, if you don't mind me asking? Anybody know? I would assume this carries over to the movie as well.
