But you know, it actually does make sense for it to be a recolor. It seems like this is Frieza's Super Saiyajin God equivalent, rather than just a transformation. By the way, I also think it's lazy. But I don't hate it now, because as soon as I saw SSG Goku, I knew that this kind of transformations (recolorings) were the new way to go. If you wanna hate Frieza for being lazy, you gotta hate God Goku also. Unless you think Frieza's colors are bowling shoe ugly, in which case I understand.

I get the point that's trying to be raised, but I also don't see why it should be entirely a bad thing to be more accepting of something when it comes to the original author. This fandom's (and a lot of other fandoms in general) willingness to completely turn and hate on the author that created things they presumably like in completely over the top ways is just...sad.

Toriyama-san showed us what is means to be real super sand legends. Anger is the key.

Y'know, I absolutely wouldn't have believed it when this movie was first announced, but I'm starting to think that we might not be getting the full Dragon Ball family this time. Takeshi Kusao's voice credit could very well be for the Future Trunks flashback and nothing else. Is this the kind of stuff Japanese schoolchildren would talk about back when the original DBZ movies were coming out? "Hey, you think Goten will be in this one? What about Kuririn?" I realize that we've already had thirteen Dragon Ball Z movies in which the full cast didn't appear, but the JUMP Special and "Battle Of Gods" have spoiled me. It feels very strange without everybody being together. Maybe they'll all get cameos? I sure hope so.

I was literally just about to post about this, get out of my head! But yeah, this latest trailer is actually making me a little more convinced they're not around to...which...just seems weird though. I mean, even Bulma's 'getting into the fight' apparently, so why would Goten, Trunks, Yamcha, and Mr. Boo (and Mr. Satan even, for comedic purposes) be nowhere to be seen? That just seems...odd. I really hope if they don't end up being seen even briefly that we get some kind of explanation for it.

And that feeling right there is a big part of what I'm enjoying about this new wave of stuff. I honestly don't think there was ever a time where I actually got to go 'oh man, I wonder what's gonna happen next' in Dragon Ball, because it was all already over and easily read about (if not watched) online by the time I became a fan. So to actually have brand new material where I don't really know what's coming...it's an amazing feeling.

JACO?! I...I...WHAT. That...that has come out of NOWHERE. Oh man...now I'm infinitely more curious to hear who's gonna play him in Xenoverse's dub, because that will likely carry over to this movie.

Who's his Japanese voice in XenoVerse, if you don't mind me asking? Anybody know? I would assume this carries over to the movie as well. It's not the same guy who voiced him in the VOMIC, is it?

...I'm not really sure. I tried checking DB Wiki even and they don't seem to have him listed.

Yeaaaahhh...no. I think I'll stick right where I am, pleasantly enjoying a majority of this new material.

It's an interesting question. Kind of like, or literally in this case, art. You'll have people who look at this Jackson Pollock painting and see nothing special. But tell someone it's from a famous artist and they might "Ooh!" and "Awe!" at it. But on the flip side you have art like this. It doesn't matter who it's from, people will think that it's cool because it just is. There (most likely) isn't some deep emotional truth hidden in the painting, it's just pleasant to the eye.

So: Is Freeza's new evolution actually cool and/or nice to look at, or are we just saying that because we know Toriyama is the one who created it? Both, maybe? Neither?

Finally caught up on all the pages! Forget galaxy buster, Freeza's new form is a forum buster!
Now, my thoughts:

Freeza's New Form:
-REALLY threw me for a loop at first
-I'm glad it's not a new shape, just new ascetics
-Really digging the irony. He once feared the gold, now he is the gold
-The only thing I dislike is the purple, but I agree with the idea of it being royal colors
-Overall, I'm pretty happy with it. Definitely not the worst possible outcome

-First off, Horray! They actually started showing stuff from the movie!
-They sure like showing the shot where Piccolo gets decked
-The "F" song sounds great! I bet it'll be a great insert
-Uhg. Stupid pop song killed the mood!

I think there's a Studio Ghibli movie that's won an oscar. I can't imagine that ever happening to Dragon Ball.

It's Spirited Away. The only Japanese animated movie to ever win an Academy Award. And rightfully so. It's the greatest animated movie ever. And has the best English dubbed performance you'll most like ever hear too.

Spirited Away, which widely considered the best Studio Ghibli movie and one of the best animated films in general.

Okay, make it the first anime NOT backed up by Disney to win an oscar. All it needs to do is succeed all expectations and have the fans keep reppin' it.

...But then again considering how under the radar and smally a company FUNimation generally is it's very unlikely.

You gotta problem with me, put me on your foes list, and you'll never see another one of my posts. Problem solved. Besides I never said I'd hate the movie, just that I hate how they suck with ideas or making them work. I'm pretty easy to please. I even said the trailer was awesome so long as I ignored the stuff that bothered me. I have good things to say too, but I won't let Toriyama being part of the project, sway my opinion.

I suppose it's possible that they're all fighting off screen somewhere else on the planet. Freeza's got quite the army here.

Speaking for myself, I don't have strong feelings one way or the other regarding the new form. I don't think it's groundbreaking or amazing or anything, but I'm also not going to throw a tantrum over it. I didn't really give myself any expectations, so this isn't a let down or anything. I would definitely rather have this than a retread of Cooler's 5th form. The metric ton of negative reaction is making me unintentionally like it more than dislike it though.

Tsubasa Yonaga. I only remember because he was Nagisa in "Free! Eternal Summer" which was full of "all out perfect body" was airing around the same time as the VOMIC came out. (OMG I miss Free! so much; hurry up OVA episode!! I want to see that ridiculous water-gun battle.)

Think positive thoughts... positive... Ah screw it, the new Freeza form is a freaking eyesore! What on Earth were they thinking!? A recolour isn't necessarily a bad thing if done right but it seems like they deliberately chose the worst possible colour combination they could think of.

I can't wait to hear the poorly thought out reasoning for this design choice. This thing just screams fanfic all the way down to the Deviantart recoloured Freeza.

...On a positive note the Trunks flashback was pretty cool.
