Wouldn't he gain knowledge of how the fusion works without Gotenks revealing its weakness (timelimit)?
I mean when Buu absorbed Piccolo he also gained information and knew who Gohan was, like how Piccolo trained him and what not (this might be anime-only). I'm want to know why Buu didn't gain anything from the people he ate. And wouldn't eating weak or good people people make him weaker, like the effect the Kaioshin had?I'm not really sure what you mean here. Confused

Like Xyex said, I think he only gained something from Fat Buu because he was 1. Magic and 2. A Buu.Mr.Piccolo wrote: I'm want to know why Buu didn't gain anything from the people he ate. And wouldn't eating weak or good people people make him weaker, like the effect the Kaioshin had?
Also, I think he has the ability to decide what happens to the people he eats. Since he needed Fat Buu he didn't digest him, just put him in an absorption pod (so this was more akin to an absorption than a simple eating). He didn't need the tons of other people he ate so they were simpily digested without any effect on him. In otherwards, they didn't stay in his system the way Fat Buu and his absorbed victims did.

The regular people didn't effect him because they weren't absorbed. They were eaten and digested. Fat Buu was the only one eaten and absorbed (because of him being Buu too). Only those absorbed give knowledge and power.Mr.Piccolo wrote:Wouldn't he gain knowledge of how the fusion works without Gotenks revealing its weakness (timelimit)?I mean when Buu absorbed Piccolo he also gained information and knew who Gohan was, like how Piccolo trained him and what not (this might be anime-only). And that aside, why the hell do people think that absorption would decrease Buu's power? No matter who he absorbs it's power ADDED to his own. After all, Cell absorbed thousands of people so he could get passed Piccolo. They gave him power, they didn't remove it.
The only kind of merger that could possibly result in a weakening would be a fusion dance between someone super uber strong (like Mystic Gohan) and someone considerably weaker (like Yamcha or weaker). The fusion would still be more powerful than Yamcha but would be weaker than Gohan (because Gohan would need to reduce his power to match Yamcha's).
With absorption and the Potara's the powers don't need to be equalized. That means that there is no power loss involved in the fusion. Just Power 1 + Power 2 + Fusion Factor.

I think people think that because the absorption of Dai Kaioshin made Buu loose power.Xyex wrote:And that aside, why the hell do people think that absorption would decrease Buu's power? He's right. That was pretty cool.Duo wrote:One single event makes the Boo arc truly great.

I don't really think it was formulaic as other saga's that shall go unnameless, I'll admit that certain parts of it, is formulaic (i.e absorption) but hey, I think it's good they decided to go down that track again, I really enjoyed when Cell was powering up when he was absorbing the jenzuringen (spelling?!) and he became more and more powerful. I just kept on thinking *fuck is this guys power ever going to stop growing?!!!!* So maybe it is sorta formulaic I kinda like it that way.

I actually think the first 1/3 or so of the Buu saga (i.e. High School/Saiyaman all the way through to Vegeta’s suicide attack) is probably the most underrated part of the whole series. I just thought it was really well built up, from the fun of Gohan’s antics as Saiyaman, Goku’s return to the living to compete in the Budokai, to the mystery that surrounded tournament, to the introduction of Babidi and hearing about Buu and the Saiyans fighting through those stages on Babidi’s ship to Vegeta’s eventual return to the ‘dark side’ and all the consequences that brought. All the stuff with Vegeta I thought in particular was some of the best drama the series had produced. DB’s plot at that point hadn’t been as tight and seemingly as well thought out as that since the Freeza arc. After Vegeta had killed himself, the saga’s plot did start to lose its way, but in a weird way it kind of made sense that the plot was as wayward as it was; as the saga progressed it became DB’s almost playful version of Armageddon. Although I prefer a well thought out plot over the randomness that was the mid to late Buu saga, it produced memorable moments like Goku’s SSJ3 transformation, Super Buu’s Genocide attack (which I thought was just awesome), Ultimate Gohan’s fight with Buu and Earth getting blown up.
And last but not least the Buu saga had Gotenks who is an absolute legend.
The Buu saga wasn’t perfect, but it had a really good beginning that’s up there with the best of DB, while the rest of it was good, if random and unorganised fun.
The Cell saga on the other hand is a weird saga. It seems to be the Empire Strikes Back of DB in that it seems to be the most loved part of the series, and indeed at one point I did consider it to be my favourite saga. However while I still consider the Cell Games to be my favourite part of the whole of DB, the Saiyan/Freeza saga (I consider the Saiyan and Freeza saga to be one huge arc) has taken over as my favourite saga as a whole. Outside of Trunks’ first appearance and the Cell Games, to repeat what somebody else in this thread already said, the saga just got really bland at times (and the messy time travel doesn’t help), and this is arguably embodied in Future Trunks. After that kick-ass intro and his tragic back story he turned out to be just a really bland character. The only time other than his initial appearance where he was really seemed interesting was when he looked like he was on the verge of genuinely going insane while he going through his SSJ Stage 3/USSJ 2 transformation (something that comes across better in the manga IMO). These are points at one point I had argued against but now I see where the person I was arguing with was coming from. Another thing is that Vegeta is one of the best characters in the series, but in the Cell saga he was at that horrible ‘tweener’ stage where he was neither the bad guy totally out for himself or the ‘good’ guy that seemed content (be it right at the start of Buu saga or the end), it’s definitely Vegeta lamest part in the series, he was only really worth anything towards the end of the Cell Games. But I suppose Vegeta needed this ‘tweener’ period for his transformation from bad to good to be believable and Trunks’ death plays a big part in that. So yeah, the Cell Games saved the Cell saga from becoming easily the worse part of at least Z-era DB IMO, otherwise it is a genuine toss up between Cell and Buu.

BAM! Vegeta gets possessed by Babidi and he's Majin Vegeta! (did not see that coming)
Now, we were so close to preventing this new evil, but Goku and Vegeta fucked it all up. Buu comes out, kills the shit out of Kaioshin and Gohan.
But Vegeta is going to blow up now! He'll certainly kill Buu! OMFGBLOWSUP
Supreme Kai gave gohan a magic sword, this has to be the end of Majin Buu!! OMFG IT BROKE AND AN OLD GUY CAME OUT.
Hooray the old guy is going to help gohan win against buu, this is definatley the end of Buu. Wait a minute, Gohan gets abosorbed in the end.[/b]
Cuz you're an ocean, you're an ocean, settle down settle down what's the commotion?
I only have one thing to say. All of these villains pop shit about blowing up Planet Earth and never do it.
Not Buu.
He was G with his. No questions, no hootie hoo, he up and just blew up the planet. . . . . .while he was still on it.
For real though, man. First he shows up, chillen, like so:

Then before you knew it

Crazy mutha fucka.

All hail the crazy mutha fucka! The only threat that had actually been done! Frieza was cut up into sushi and Cell was blown up once and vaporised the next time. Buu saga was the DB being injected into DBZ, a good combination I think. It funny and it serious all at once!

I know Toriyama wanted to end the series in a light way, but I didn't appreciate that tone following the Cell Arc. Plus the main villian is a playoff of this..

Crazy mofo indeed...

With the inclusion of things like Fat Buu, the ridiculous Fusion Dance and in particular the duo of Goten and Trunks, I did always see the Buu saga as the spirit of the original Dragonball revisited. It doesn't take itself quite as seriously as the Cell saga does, and I'm not sure it would work well if in fact it did.gohanku wrote:Buu saga was the DB being injected into DBZ, a good combination I think. After reading through this thread, I am definitely picking up on the uniqueness that was Buu series, but I agree that the end should have come after Vegeta sacrificed himself. It seemed pointless to keep it going... In a way I guess. I think part of it was that I didn't ever actually see the entire Buu series in its entirity. So...
I guess I don't have much say in this matter.
"Hello? .. Is this thing? ... OKay good... I only have one thing to say ... The ninjas look forward to killing you all very soon..."
