If my first name was James, but I went by my hypothetical middle name, Robert, would you insist on calling me James, even though I've asked you not to?

Because Goku has repeatedly denied the identity of Kakarot. And Gohan had much more right to call himself a parent to Goku than Bardock did.
No, I haven't. "Lewis Carroll" does sound familiar but... Yeah, just sounds familiar.

If your middle name is indeed "Robert", then yes. I would call you by that, after all, it is part of your truly name.
He denied, but he still haven't changed his name legally, so until that happens, his name is and forever will be Kakarot.

I mean, Kakarot might be the guy's original name, but it's not who he is. He's Goku. Referring to him by Kakarot is refusing to acknowledge who the character is. Goku rejected Kakarot.

Bardock sent Goku to Earth so he wouldn't get boo boos. Gohan dropped Goku off a cliff. :P

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

Broly is Goku's brother because they were born on the same date.

The strangest and stupidest thing I hear fans say is [something a fan I disagree with said yesterday on this forum].

He's probably referring to the Bardock special. Zarbon was the one who first recommended destroying Planet Vegeta because the saiyans were rapidly growing in strength.
It was actually Beerus disguised as Zarbon #StayWoke
Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

When people say Bardock DOES afraid of something. Rustles my jimmies.

Some other ones as well:

- Evolution is not a bad movie if you watch it as a stand alone movie and not as a Dragon Ball movie
- Evolution would have been much better if Goku was Asian
- Micheal Bay or Roland Emmerich should direct a DBZ movie

The action scene he indeed should. That man is a god at that particular subject. I just want he gets rid of the "shaking camera".

Micheal Bay's action scenes are too long and boring with too many explosions. I don't think he would be good at doing Dragon Ball type fighting action.

-Dragon Ball Z came before Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball was a prequel (Um... no)
-Broly is stronger than Janemba (LOLWUT)
-Super Saiyan is a rip-off of Super Sonic (I admit I believed this before I knew much about DB)
-"Dragon Ball Hoshi" new series coming 2014 (Quite a delay, wouldn't ya say?)

And now, the crowning jewel:
-Goku is secretly Bardock (I shit you not, I once saw a 7 minute theory video about it. I reeeeeally should have saved that link.)

Ah, those fanboys. Well, pretty expected, I have seen many saying that thing is stronger than Gogeta and using those opening sequences from video-games as "evidences".

Michael Bay is bad at story telling. In the Transformers movies, I want to see giant robots and not Even Stevens. Transformers 1-3 was pretty much Even Stevens with the Transformers as guest stars. I didn't care for anyone in the Transformers movies and the robots in those movies hardly had any development. Dragon Ball has a fun memorable characters and I want to see those characters done right on the big screen.

I'm actually not that big of a fan of his action scenes. At least not from the last Transformers movie. Watching the feet of two robots smashing each others' faces in isn't the part of the fight I want to see. (In other words, watching the fight from the humans' of the story perspective...while they run away.)

That said...we wouldn't get the movie we wanted by any stretch, but you have to give the man credit, if he did a DBZ movie, it would be huge and everyone would love Dragon Ball. Probably not for the same reasons that a lot of us love Dragon Ball though.

DBZ should be made by the same guy who made "man of steel".
