You never asked me for a scene that specifically showed how good Clinkenbeard is. Even in the clip someone provided, she was fine. I don't see the issue.

There aren't many clips of that particular dub, so I'd like you to point out where she shows talent and explain how it's better than what Stephanie Nadolny does, even if it's just "the scene where ____".

In that one instance she doesn't sound screechy, but it's not a great performance either. That scene is supposed to be full of emotion and she's awful. She says, "I did it!" like it's merely a moment of triumph. It's a moment of catharsis and Nadolny fails at that. She never sounds like a wild child, she sounds like someone acting like a wild child.

It's been a long while since I saw the dub for DB movie 1, but even in the clip I think Clinkenbeard was fine.

Only "I won" sounds that underplayed, but the buildup to "I DID IT!" was good. Maybe it could have used a bit more emotion, but there was nothing really wrong with it. How does she not sound exactly like a wild child?

The lack of emotion IS what was wrong with it. Her "I did it!" wasn't conveying the right emotion. It sounded like Goku just won a fight, when he should sound like he went through hell to avenge the death of his best friend and master and it's his moment of releasing his emotions. It doesn't sound like a wild child, you can see the seems, so to speak. You can hear her acting, instead of just being. I'm not wrapped up in the performance, story, and character. I hear Nadolny trying, not being. I sound a tad pretentious but I think you get my meaning. Also, I have no idea what that sound was when she was trying sound like she was sad.

Masako Nozawa did do it better, but I'm judging it on its own merits.
I get what you mean, I just don't agree. She was holding in her cries when reflecting on those who died.

Stephanie's Goku definitely sounded like a wild child to me, and that sadness definitely came across as genuine in my eyes. If anything, Colleen in the role came off as overdoing it at times in DB Movie 1 Curse of the Blood Rubies. For example, that yelling Gohann linked a few pages ago (?) was way too over the top for me and she sounded really rough doing that: I'd say a subdued emotional performance can outdo an OTT one, but even then, Nadolny's was perfectly appropriate given the scene she was in. Also, I have a problem with it sounding like Luffy at times because it comes off as a bit generic, like KaiserNeko said, but that's not my main problem: he sounds a bit older than he is when yelling.

In her defense, she sounds a LITTLE better in Xenoverse, but still not good.

Agreed, but that's...uh...definitely not up to par with Nadolny, from what I just heard.

She still has a long way to go before she's up there with Stephanie, Saffron, Zoe, Ceyli, Barbara, or even the AB Groupe UVA, that's for sure. She's not even remotely close as it stands now, maybe a complete voice change with more natural acting would help.

Now you think Ceyli is better?

Long way to go? As if Nadolny was even remotely as good as you're implying. Even if she was the best, she's just not a good actress.
I'd say a subdued emotional performance can outdo an OTT one, but even then, Nadolny's was perfectly appropriate given the scene she was in. Also, I have a problem with it sounding like Luffy at times because it comes off as a bit generic
That's not what generic means. You can do the same performance, and still sound distinct, and it's only a problem if you're familiar with One Piece which I'm not. You have to judge the performance on its own. My problem with Nadolny wasn't her being subdued, it's that she didn't sound like she was letting out her emotions, she just yells out a victory cry, and no, that wasn't appropriate for the scene. Goku shouldn't sound like he's won a match, he just went through hell to defeat his master and best friend's murderer. And that "over the top" was one friggin scream in an over the top moment!

Her Woody Woodpecker laugh isn't natural (nor cute) and your insistence that her delivery is in fact natural makes me think that you are ignoring that fact and basing your opinion purely on nostalgia.

I've always thought Ceyli Delgadillo was better, voice-wise, it was only the acting that was off. Same with the AB Groupe UVA, the voice is at least easy on the ears.

You say Stephanie Nadolny is "average at best", yet she put out arguably the best performance (and could have been even better with improved direction), so what does that say about the others?
And that "over the top" was one friggin scream in an over the top moment!
This hasn't changed in Xenoverse, either.

Then you don't know Goku, because he's full of energy Ceyli's voice is so soft and doesn't fit Son Goku in the least.

Did I say she's "average" at best? I'm glad you wrote "arguably" because even taking Clinkenbeard out of the race, Nadolny is still near the back of the line. Clinkenbeard isn't even my favorite, Henderson is.

I've never seen or played Xenoverse, and I don't see your point. It's an over the top series, so the yell is appropriate especially after being hit by a car and by bullets.

How is Nadolny's Woody Woodpecker/Krusty laugh easy on the ears?

That could have been fixed with good direction, the sound of her voice itself was good.
ABED wrote: Big shoes, you make it sound like Nadolny's this amazing actress. She's not. At her best, she's only okay.
Not the exact wording, but you did. I'll agree that Henderson is one of the better ones.

Xenoverse GT Goku (Colleen Clinkenbeard): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHCvFzxxBRc

I can't link it, but about ten minutes in The Path of Power, he laughs at Bulma and it sounds more natural and charming than what she did before.

Those two things are very different. I said "at her best" which means only a few moments. I didn't say that overall she's average.

I don't see what was wrong with Clinkenbeard from that Xenoverse Clip.

What could've been fixed with better direction? Ceyli?

No offense, but I must ask why you keep this up? You continue hounding people for why they like Nadolny, they give their answers and you brush them aside and keep hounding them. You say that Nadolny is a bad actress yet there are pages of people here saying they enjoyed her performance, myself included. Which to me speaks in volumes to the opposite of what you're saying, yet you keep pushing this, you keep saying she has a krusty the clown laugh or that her voice makes your ears bleed, yet many have explained to you why they prefer Nadolny and time and time again you repeat the same schtick! I get you don't like Nadolny but you seem to be on some crusade to hound every fan of her and completely disrespect the opinions of others.

For example! I like Nadolny's performance because it felt right, Kid Goku is supposed to sound grating, he is a hyperactive wild kid. To me I enjoy the rasp, I like her laugh, I like the delivery and emotions. I like Nadolny because TO ME she fits. To give a contrast to this, I've heard Colleen's Kid Goku and I was upset to hear she pretty much changed nothing from her Kid Gohan which was already changing nothing from her Kid Luffy. So to me I don't hear Kid Goku from Colleen, I hear Kid Luffy and that to me is lazy. That to me repels me from enjoying Colleen's performance, it prevents me from connecting to her Kid Goku because it isn't Kid Goku, It's Kid Luffy. At least to me I can separate Nadolny's Kid Goku and Kid Gohan. With Colleen you can sub lines from either side and barely notice a difference.

Where'd you get the idea that Goku's supposed to sound grating? And he's not hyperactive. You make it sound like he needs Ritalin.

The Luffy excuse doesn't work for me. It's like when people complain about someone giving he same performance. What does it matter if the performance fits a character? Jack Nicholson gives the same performance in most of his films, but so what? It fit the Joker? Why should I judge his performance as The Joker because what he did in a completely different film? From what I've read, Goku and Luffy are similar characters, so it wouldn't be surprising that the voice fits both roles.
At least to me I can separate Nadolny's Kid Goku and Kid Gohan.
That's ally you can really say. Separating two voices in the same series is far more important than separating them for different shows. Colleen does sound different as Goku and Gohan as well.

Even on its own, when Kid Goku yells, he sounds more Luffy's age than a child, like in the video Gohann linked, though I suppose what you say has some merit regarding the "on its own" part. I don't think she sounded like he was solely necessarily victorious at all: more like he was happy that he defeated the monster that murdered his friend and got revenge for him! "One friggin scream" that sounds the same in nearly every scene Colleen yells in the DB: Curse of Blood Rubies dub as Kid Goku?

I don't think her laugh sounded like Woody the Woodpecker's: if anything, that's Erica Schroeder's Luffy laugh from the 4Kids Dub of One Piece to me.

Playing the nostalgia card solely because I like a performance that is older over one that is newer when I genuinely feel Nadolny better voiced, better acted, and sounded more distinct as Kid Goku than Colleen has so far?

Same issues I had before on a lesser scale.

Yes, just improve her acting/characterization and she would be a solid Kid Goku.

On the topic of Stephanie Nadolny's laugh, Sean Schemmel's (an actor you praise) laugh is "Der-ha-ha-ha-ha-her-her-her". No one laughs like he does, but no one (me included) has much issue with it, either.

Unfortunately I don't feel like going through the effort to look on youtube for a bunch of evidence, but there are hundreds of more laughs and screams that I can find of Nadolny that are beyond annoying, yet one scream from Colleen and you're judging it like it's worse than Greedo shooting first? I constantly hear how people find Colleen's voice grating, but Nadolny's rasp is far more apparent than Colleen's which calls into question those opinions.
Yes, just improve her acting/characterization and she would be a solid Kid Goku.
No it wouldn't. Her voice lacks the energy necessary to portray Goku. It's too soft. Regarding improving acting and characterization, you make it sound like that's easy.
No one laughs like he does, but I don't have much issue with it, either.
Huh? That's a stretch. I've never heard anything wrong with his laugh other than the usual "it's hard for actors to laugh on cue" issue.
