Spike isn't near as prominent as (the H-word) is. And fair point to that, but in that case, Filter it to his actual name.
(the H-word) is an especially egregious case because there is a huge reason why someone might choose to use the dub name even if they prefer the sub. His name is literally Satan. Do you realise how uncomfortable it might be for a christian to time that?
I am a Christian, and I feel uncomfortable with you using your religion to try and influence the practices of this site. See how slippery a slope that is?
If it bothers you that much, there are ways around the word filter. But other people aren't going to stop using the guy's name.

I'm just pointing out some people have a very legitimate reason not to use his Sub name.

Then don't use it.

That's too much effort to put into a name

I worry about the quality of your fanfic if you consider a second-long detour to be "too much effort."

One second is no problem. Doing it several dozen times is time consuming and tedious.

Well, that's what you get for insisting on doing something that is against the policies of the forum. It sucks for you, but there is a perfectly valid way to circumvent the policy, and if you are unwilling to use it, that's your fault, not anybody else's.
Or you could just use the character's name, which is harmless. Plenty of Christians watch Dragon Ball without getting offended by "Mr. Satan," "Spike the Devil Man," "Videl," "Demon King Piccolo," "Dabura the Demon King," or any of the "Ma-" words which literally mean devil or demon.

i don't have problems with any of them except the first. And i don't begrudge anyone who uses it themselves. I'm just uncomfortable doing it
The Filter on Hercule isn't forum policy, it's an unfunny joke that undermines the point of having the Filter in the first place. Filter Hercule to his actual name, and i'd be cool with that. I wouldn't like it(As i think Hercule is the better name even leaving aside my uncomfortableness), but i wouldn't care about it enough to complain.

Unfunny to you, but you don't run and pay for the site. This very topic has been denied numerous times, and I seriously doubt it's going to be this time, when there is a simple workaround. It's not the staff's fault you're unwilling to use it.

It used to be filtered to his actual name (Mr. Satan), but then you ended up with stuff like "his name's not Mr. Satan, it's Mr. Satan." It turned out that more people were talking
about the name, instead of using it to refer to the character.
"Mark," while technically the character's given name, is merely an interesting bit of trivia mentioned in a guidebook. It's not actually in the series proper, and to me it feels like one of those "hardcore true fan inside jokes." If H*****e gets filtered to a name it shouldn't be Mark - if someone thinks H*****e is the guy's name, they probably wouldn't know who Mark is. Like it or not, Satan is the name most of the world knows the character by. If that somehow offends you, you can blame Toriyama for that, not this forum.

Most of the world probably knows Krillin as Kuririn too, but that name isn't filtered.
I am completely aware of who Mr. Satan is and the fact that his name was changed in america. I choose to refer to him as Hercule, both because Mr. Satan makes me uncomfortable but also because i think it is the genuinely superior name for the character

Call him Herkules or Videl's dad. Perhaps even Mr. Saton.

Just learned it's not entirely a "dub" filter. I accidently typed "kanzenshuu" with only one U, and it filtered it to "kanzenshuu". =P
Direct translations of the Korean DB Online timeline and guidebook.
My personal "canon" and BP list. (Coming Soon)

It's not something logical, it's a feeling. Mr. Satan makes me feel uncomfortable, the others don't. Simple as that.
