Goku is DB's equivalent of John Cena getting wins he shouldn't and hogging the spotlight.

Goku's record against main villains from the manga is kinda lousy when you look at it. He's lost against Tao Pai Pai, Tenshinhan, King Piccolo, Raditz, Vegeta, Ginyu, #19, Cell, Majin Vegeta and technically Majin Boo. This is really only the second time he's ever killed a manga villain on his own.

Is this really "killing on his own" when he had go out of the fight to recover, and also needed Whis' time abilities to send him back to it, and Freeza's power was constantly draining? He gets the last attack, but it hardly sounds like a fair one vs one match.

Whis fights during a training of Goku and Vegeta. Beerus never does.

No, not at all.

The Z warriors take them down without killing them, but Freeza kills them off all himself.

Nah, even after the summary, we'll still not get a lot of small details, besides one thing is reading a summary, and the other is watching the movie by yourself. Completely different experiences. To be honest, there weren't much things (from what we got from spoilers) to be surprised anyway. A lot of people predicted Whis using time rewind when 2nd chapter of FnF manga was revealed. A lot of people expected Goku to win, and Vegeta putting up a good fight. A lot of people expected Freeza destroying the Earth (heck, it was shown in the trailer) and being beaten by Goku again, with him maybe somehow even surviving after that. I personally expected to see someone from Jaco in this movie, and there was a fake art of Tights from FnF flowing around here quite a time ago. So nothing much to be surprised about so far

Inada Tetsu, the voice of Nappa in Dragon Ball Kai and Slug in Raging Blast 2. Inada is also known for voicing Gamagoori Ira from Kill la Kill and Komamura from Bleach.

Because fans wanted to have a movie full of action, so bringing back Freeza is the easiest way to give them that and at the same time there won't be much explanation about why he's there and what he want.

Very ballsy of them to not show Goten and Trunks at all, considering child characters appeal to the child demographic. They ignored an easy advertising opportunity, and I applaud them for it. Things aren't looking good for Yamcha or Chaozu, though.

I'm glad Freeza's dead again. What did people expect? It's the fate he deserves, and a premise like this is only good enough for one movie. Hundreds of pages ago people were freaking out over the possibility that he wouldn't be killed.

I know I don't have any say in the matter, but I wouldn't object to this thread being locked and then re-opened once the summary is posted. Nothing substantial is being contributed, nobody is reading the moderator posts, and I've had just about all I can take of people calling everything "shit." This isn't YouTube.

We are introduced to the concept of different universes. The whole idea of bringing Freeza back without thinking on a "bigger" scale is just bad. Real bad.

Seriously, I'm dying to watch the movie, but since the beginning I feel everything about this production has been a bad idea.

Here's my quick critique.


THIS IS NOT A MOVIE.

There's a Japanese term 起承転結 (introduction, development, turn, conclusion) which is often referred to when it comes to writing fiction, and Resurrection F completely lacks development in it. Foes appear, warriors gather, fight, then win. There is no development in the story. It's just punch, punch, kick, beam, funny conversations, punch, beam, funny reactions, beam, punch, Kamehameha! I can even hardly call this a story. It fails to be something enough calling a movie.

However, that doesn't mean it's not entertaining. It sure has a lot of charms. It's got a lot of hilarious and heartwarming moments (like Jaco's funny lines, Piccolo rocking Pan's cradle and Android 18 showing her love for Krillin) that definitely entertain fans, and the characters feel very on-character thanks to Toriyama. Also, a lot of the fight sequences were much better than my expectations. They're mainly focused on fist-to-fist struggles and it's not a boring beam show that GT was. Especially, Kamesen'nin was really badass this time. You ought to check it out yourself.

Things that bugged me were some really amateurish transitions of scenes, the persistent and unfunny gag moments by Beerus, and the choreography of battle sequences. Some scenes were suddenly inserted that I couldn't immediately understand what's happening. For example, Sorbet finds Pilaf and co in his space ship, and within the next two shots, they're already trapped in the ship and talking with Sorbet. It could have been a lot better by showing Pilaf and his gang first, then the space ship comes, trapped, and Sorbet gets introduced. Also, though Freeza mentions his training for a few months, the training itself is never shown and you don't understand how he could have become stronger. He just comes to the Earth shortly after his resurrection. As for gag moments, honestly, Beerus was unneeded in this movie. He just continues on talking about foods, which we've already seen enough in BoG, and contributes nothing to the story. Also, he acts high and mighty all the way that it spoils Freeza's terror. Whis alone would have been completely fine this time. The battle choreography was mostly nice, but it was often too "realistic" that it's not very DB-esque. It could have been more planet-scale. The overuse of slowmo doesn't help, too.

In conclusion, this is a compilation of battle sequences with Toriyama's elements inserted between them, which is enjoyable for DB fans and those who want to enjoy hardcore actions with an empty head. But to me, this does not feel like a movie at all. It feels like an overly rich OVA.
