That'd be awesome if they did the False Super Saiyan scene, but had Goku go SSJ.djkalteraphine wrote:Goku and Slug duke it out. Goku transforms into SSJ for the first time of his free will (something he can't do while fighting Freeza, and something he can when he meets Trunks), and punishes Slug.
Anyone else sick of the DBZ story in games?

But think about this.djkalteraphine wrote:As for movie 8, the Broli flick, it works perfect in those ten days. Chi-chi is already mad at Goku for taking Gohan away from his studies for so long, so during that time of rest, SURELY she would use that as an opportunity to get Gohan more education. Sorta like, "Okay, he can fight Cell, but right after, he's going to private school." See what I'm gettin' at? Paragas shows up, Vegeta's bored anyway, "Alright, I'll go to this planet. . Meh." And as for Gohan's outfit? Change it. It really wouldn't hurt the story that much. Plus, he's already at the post-time chamber age during the Broli flick. With that neato haircut Son-kun gave him.
In those 10 days before the Cell Games, the entire world was pretty much freaking out, because people didn't know whether or not they'd still be alive in a week. I seriously doubt any schools and such were running or anything like that.
Also, save for Goku and Gohan, all the other fighters were shown during those days training intensely for the Cell Games, not going out for a picnic amongst the sakura.
Movie 8 could only have happened as a "What If?" with Goku having managed to beat Cell.

They don't have to invent entirely new storylines. They could make a tweak here or there and see where it takes them, kind of like how Trunks saved Goku in the normal timeline and that led to a whole slew of differences.
I don't think the problem is the story itself, but that they make it so linear and put it together in a boring way. I'm sure they could make it interesting somehow...

Why can't it happen in the three year training period? Just make Gohan and Vegeta not able to go SSJ and change Trunks' hair.SSj Kaboom wrote:But think about this.djkalteraphine wrote:As for movie 8, the Broli flick, it works perfect in those ten days. Doesn't mean Trunks can't come hang out every once in a while. But I guess it would make more sense in the 10 days period. They could just write out the ChiChi and Goku trying to get Gohan enlisted at that school and have Goku at the picnic when Kaio calls him and he teleports there.Rocketman wrote:Trunks wasn't even there and Gohan, Piccolo, and Vegeta were far too weak compared to SSJ Goku.Taku128 wrote:Why can't it happen in the three year training period? Late on the reply, but I'm going to agree with you anyway. XD I too would like to see more DB games. Especially now that almost everything has been done with DBZ. DB still has oodles of untapped potential!djkalteraphine wrote: GO MY SAIBAIRANGERS!
Yes, yes it was. I agree with your statement. I'm a bit tired of starting with the arrival of Raditz. Not because I'm tired of that story, god no. . I'm just tired of missing all that great stuff before it. Advance Adventure was great for this, but sadly it looks like it didn't start a trend with the developers. I'd like to see a game go from the beginning of Dragon Ball to the end of GT, with the movie villains worked into the canon as best as possible. Have I imagined it in my head whilst playing video games or pacing my kitchen? If you answered yes, then you get a cookie. If my brain is smart enough to conceive it, then why can't they do it?
So true, I would love to see more of DragonBall and play as General Blue, Kid Krillin and others.Pedro The Hutt wrote:Late on the reply, but I'm going to agree with you anyway. I'm not against new stories but it would be really boring if Dragonball Z games were all made up story, and the people who make them would probably get the storys wrong (just like Budokai 2 that was weard). It would just be something like "Cell and Freeza teem up to beat Goku, again". Just enjoy the story its what makes Dragonball great, so the best is a bit of both (like Budokai 3, where you could decide if you want to play a different story or not).

I think with every incarnation of the Budokai series they are getting closer to a concise depiction of the Dragonball Universe which is true to the show and its story - but they aren't there yet and it remains to be be seen how many, if any, more of the Budokai series will be created.
This taken into account it has to be said that all of the games contain certain "what if" scenarios aswell as new and unlockable story lines (as perhaps as short lived and stupid as they are). In short, unless any new charactors in the Dragonball Universe are to be sanctioned or created by higher authorities I am sure that we will not see any all new story lines.
Even if that did happen, I'm sure people like us would just hate it.

Then it's not DBZ. How can you finish the game if you never fight Vegeta? Is Vegeta just supposed to chill and take a long vacation once he arrives on Earth instead of killing everyone and selling the place?
Okay these similar statements that "it wouldn't be DBZ" I noticed kept coming up, and though while a point there is somewhat stupidity to it, ie WHY would/does it "have" to be "Z" ? Just call it something diffrient like Dragon Ball Redux (the title even lets you know that its supposed to be diffrient) or did you guys forget it doesn't always have to be Z or that the name "Dragon Ball" itself is enough to sell products, it doesn't matter if its Z specific or not.But the thing is, if you have a whole new storyline it is no longer a DBZ game
Its an easy set up, you start from DB going all the way through to GT, but it could/would branch off into diffrient paths based on your choices, though if you wanted you could go through it exactly the way it was across all 3 series. Just like in Budokai 3 you could follow the story exactly if you wanted, but if you so chose you could also do things diffriently, but what am I saying that game turned out to be disaster as a result didn't it?
Another solution is making all the new stuff or What If's downloadable content, that way the purist version isn't any diffrient, unless you download the extras, ie its a choice, but then again we all know how terrible games that give the player freedoms (like GTA, Fable, etc) always do so terrible huh?
They already did that, a couple times, and most recently with Super DBZ.Ugh....yeah. Of course the DBZ storyline is boring in a game. We already know it by heart! That's why we need a strickly fighting DBZ game, like Street Fighter or King of Fighters. I'm telling ya'll, it would be fantastic!
