I think some of the old TV ads for Dragon Ball back in 1986 are hard to fine but not lost.

I still can get my hands on original Japanese episode Scripts.fadeddreams5 wrote:Besides the Toriyama sketches mentioned and possible scripts (e.g. original BoG script) or art work, I don't think there's anything "lost" from the actual anime or manga. As in, an actual episode or special.
That said, I'm sure there may be old Japanese commercials or DBZ related shows from the time the series was at its prime that may fit the bill. I'm actually interested in seeing that. >.>

Wouldn't the original master audio tapes for Dragon Ball and Z count? We at least know that we once thought GT was lost as well but re-aired a few years ago with said audio intact.
As for them getting a release, that's a different story.

Aren't the edited VHS tapes pretty much what aired on Toonami? Unless I'm unaware that Toonami made additional edits on top of said edited footage.Kakacarrottop wrote: Hard to find

Hard to obtain:
The entire footage of 'Plan To Eradicate The Saiyajins', part 1 and 2: there are too many videoclips you can unlock just making some specific actions in the Playdia game... but it's too difficult to obtain all of them. Also, there isn't yet a Playdia emulator that could extract movie files from the ISO of these games, which are crypted.
Almost lost/Maybe gone forever:
DBZ Year-End Special: 'Looking Back at it All: The Dragon Ball Z Year-End Show!', there aren't complete rips from the original, only-one-time-aired tv broadcast, maybe pekinduck did it? He could be the only one in the entire world.
... and, remaining stick with lost footage, we can consider also the ones wich have been played at the 'V-JUMP FESTIVAL VIDEO 1994': Go!Go!Ackman, Chokin Senshi CASHMAN, Jiku Sentai Numamonjar, and so on.

Re: What counts as "lost" content in the franchise?
Does he know, or have any info, on if the master tapes are truly gone, Shinmaru?
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada

There are clips that aren't in the usual rips and in the vhs release, just like this:Hard to obtain:

I never thought to ask him before about the audio, but I'll ask if he knows something about it.Attitudefan wrote:Does he know, or have any info, on if the master tapes are truly gone, Shinmaru?

I have no idea where my copy of Daizenshuu 7 is, so I can't just check it to see. However, the dragonball.wikia claims it's at the back of Weekly Shonen Jump 1991 #3/4.dougo13 wrote:Can you be more specific as to what issue it might have been in? I pulled out a bunch of the Young Jump manga volumes I have remaining in my collection (I had hundreds at one time but had to discard them as they had gotten water damaged from poor storage). I have Christmas issues from late 1989/1990 but I don't see anything other than things like Dragonquest and the odd single panel colour section as part of a calendar for instance. I have other issues I saved though, so perhaps we'll get lucky and it's in there.
Forgot about the Chogashuu, but it's worth noting that it was not released outside of Japan (to my knowledge, anyway) and that neither had as much distribution as the tankoubon or kanzenban.Tyro wrote:I wouldn't say that image is hard to find anymore. Re: What counts as "lost" content in the franchise?
Thanks. Found the special issues for 1990. Those were big, at 400 - 500 pages long. Still looking...

Yeah, that's the one.Dayspring wrote:I have no idea where my copy of Daizenshuu 7 is, so I can't just check it to see. However, the dragonball.wikia claims it's at the back of Weekly Shonen Jump 1991 #3/4.
It might be hard to get your hands on the original WSJ that has the comic, but the comic itself is all over the internet. Hell, I have a HQ scan of it on my computer right now.Dayspring wrote:Forgot about the Chogashuu, but it's worth noting that it was not released outside of Japan (to my knowledge, anyway) and that neither had as much distribution as the tankoubon or kanzenban.
