Agreed. As long winded and ridiculous as it sounds, it's infinitely more accurate than all of these fan terms like "Super Super Saiyan God" or "Super Saiyan God 2". I don't think many people understand that it isn't meant to be an evolution of the magenta form, at least not in a literal sense.Tyro wrote:Assuming "Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan" is what sticks/remains official, I don't see the problem with using that specific description to refer to the "new" form. A little long winded, sure, but it's not atrocious. I'd prefer to use that terminology over a fan-created name any day of the week. "Blueper Saiyan", while humorous, doesn't have a good ring to it, and "Super Cyan" has already been retired.

The Blue comes from showing a complete spectrum change from Red. Similar to Black to a light golden yellow.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:Yeah the blue was totally random, I would have thought they would have used the red from SSG, but I am glad they didn't I really like this form.Dyno wrote:"cash grab" fits perfectly, because where the heck does the "blue" come from? So it's just marketing...
It also makes sense considering the initial aura Goku had when he first took the form was blue, even has the blue "petal" effect.

But this is not really accurate, or at the very least it is a bit misleading.SSJGBGoku wrote:The naming now makes sense when I read translated text :
" The Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan is achieved when a Saiyan (Goku/Vegeta) gains the power of SSJG and transform in to a SSJ ".
This makes a bit of sense to me now.
In Battle of Gods, we see Goku transform into a yellow Super Saiyan after the Super Saiyan God transformation wears off. He is still able to draw power from the Godly ki he had access to earlier, and we know this because he is able to keep up with Beerus and he has that strange burst/absorb moment. However, he has clearly not yet mastered this power.
I think it is more accurate to say that this is a synchronization of the Godly ki and Super Saiyan. He channels that ki into the normal Super Saiyan form to make it comparably strong (he could be more powerful, he could be less powerful) to how powerful he'd be as a Super Saiyan God. Godly ki-infused Super Saiyan.
Not a huge difference, but it's important to recognize that becoming a Super Saiyan God while also having the ability to become a Super Saiyan does not automatically grant you this ability. It is something that needs to be mastered through training.

Its still too convoluted to say though and painfully redundant. Most professional writing tips say to never give characters names that are tounge twisters.batistabus wrote:I think it is more accurate to say that this is a synchronization of the Godly ki and Super Saiyan. I would have just gone with "Ascended Saiyan God" or "Super Saiyan (God Ki)" If it is just SSJ with God boost because its not SSJ ontop post SSJG, if its SSJG + SSJ.
Zephyr wrote:The fandom's collective fetishizing of "moments" is also ridiculous to me. No, not everyone needs a fucking "shine" moment. If that's all you want, then all you want is fanservice, rather than an actual coherent story. And of course those aren't mutually exclusive; you could have a coherent story with "shine" moments! But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.

Why did you think it was a good idea to post a spoiler in a thread title, rather than keep it in the relevant movie thread?

Re: Blue Haired Super Saiyan God Confirmed
We've sort of known about this for a long while now. =P
Personally, I think it looks really, really lame, and makes him look weaker, which is something even Toriyama seems to acknowledge. Even SSJG was better. Looking at this image, Goku doesn't even seem like he "powered-up." Just looks like he joined a Japanese band, spiked up his hair, and dyed it blue.

Daizenshuu 10 labels both Goku's & Gohan's SS forms after RoSaT as Super Saiyan Full Power.dbgtFO wrote:It's actually Super Saiyan Full Power and it's only used to label Goku once he has powered up to full power against Cell.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:It's not a proper form name though, it's just a description used only for Goku to distinguish between his first transformation and his RoSaT training. Gohan has the same form but is only labeled as Super Saiyan in the same character section of the book.Dyno wrote:And "Full-Power Super Saiyan" is in a Daizenshuu, but I may be wrong, though.
Their stressless Super Saiyan forms don't have names other than Grade 4 from that Trunks comic.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Maybe you and others, but plenty of people are trying to avoid news about the new movie.fadeddreams5 wrote:We've sort of known about this for a long while now. =P
I'm no mod, and won't pretend to be, and I certainly don't mind discussion about it, (though, outside of the main thread, I would prefer the use of spoiler tags), but throwing stuff out in thread titles (especially when it can easily be discussed in the thread for the movie) seems inconsiderate to me.

I agree with this. Thread likes this are so not cool and the reason why I tell people to be weary of going on Kanzenshuu whenever a new Dragon Ball movie is announced. Because threads like this are created and can kill your anticipation for the movie.Metalwario64 wrote:Maybe you and others, but plenty of people are trying to avoid news about the new movie.

Daizenshuu labels them because it easier to refer to them if they have specific names, but they don't actually have names in-universe. It's similar to how Future Trunks's name in-universe is just Trunks, not Future Trunks.

The form is extremely uninteresting.
Standard God mode had an ethereal nature to it; he was lean and innocent-looking, which lent to his godlike state. The SSJSSJG form is pretty unspectacular--he just looks like a warrior... nothing godlike about it. Meh. I feel like after throwing us for a loop and giving us something unexpected, this just loops around to laziness. This was Toriyama's opportunity to make something flashy and over-the-top (cape anyone?) after the minimalism of SSJG and Gold Freeza, but no... let's continue this trend of unexpected, but without the interesting bit. Nice. Maybe SSJSSJG2 will be eve more interesting, like base Goku but without pupils!

The negativity towards the new form is nothing new. We saw it with 'God', and I'm willing to bet if you go far back enough in the fandom, it happened with Super Saiyan 3 and 4, too.
Eventually, collective scepticism and reservations about 'new' forms always segues into begrudged acceptance, then indifference, and then, finally, affection.

IDK about you all,but i enjoy the new form.I happen to like the color blue and it looks awesome as a transformation plus super saiyan 1 hair style the best.
I wonder if goku in his new ssj god form is stronger than his red form.

Why wouldn't be? It's a "fusion" of two forms... Of course he is stronger. Not to mention both of them trained with Wiss.buutenks wrote:I wonder if goku in his new ssj god form is stronger than his red form.
