I wasn't even being mean to you... I was just being honest with you. :|

Honestly, I'm just glad that the plot summary and the film's release got out of the way now. We now know most of the information regarding the film, character designs, animation supervisors, etcs. I feel less anxious now and just look forward to the English dub release for the theaters this summer, and in a few months from now on we will have the Japanese DVD release, most likely in August or September.

Absolutely ecstatic to see Chris Ayres back in the role for the movie. Linda Young is a wonderful woman and actress, but she is by and far not suited for the role.

Also, I see some people in this thread hoping the movie does poorly. My honest question is... why? Why would anyone want this movie to fail? I understand that some folks have an issue with the movie itself, but it failing won't make Toei go back and reconsider the quality of their product. We've seen in the past that's just not how they act. They have a tendency of either putting LESS money and effort in, or flat out just cancelling any new content.

I want this movie to do well because there's a lot about this movie that I've seen that I really enjoy, even with it's flaws, and want to see more quality come out of this series in the future. I think the only way that's going to happen is to show Toei that we support the series, while critically providing it the criticism necessary to help inform them moving on what we would like to see in the future. Not that they should necessarily pander to us, obviously.

Effortlessly defeating guys that Raditz would have no trouble with, and Roshi is also slaughtering by the dozen? Ooooooh, what a badass.

He's probably referring to the Bardock special. Zarbon was the one who first recommended destroying Planet Vegeta because the saiyans were rapidly growing in strength.
It was actually Beerus disguised as Zarbon #StayWoke
Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

Yeah man, there's absolutely no merit to the way a character's actions are visually presented.

Whenever someone is badass, it can only be because of how he comes out after scrutinizing the context of the situation. Animation and choreography are absolutely forbidden from being treated as criteria.

Herms, rumors spread saying that Vegeta surpassed Goku and Beerus .
Goku would be stronger than Beerus with 70% Power and Vegeta would be stronger than Beerus with 105% power .

That's true?

Ridiculous rumors. Goku and Vegeta are nigh equals and both are weaker than Beerus. In the movie Whis says Goku and Vegeta could potentially defeat him if they learn to work together.

Anyway, watching that leaked video again of Vegeta vs Freeza it would seem like Vegeta took Whis' advice to relax a bit during battle. He was so calm and relaxed rather than constantly uptight like he usually is when he fights. It was quite a welcome change IMO.

They won't listen to your criticism if they're still getting your money regardless.

On the topic of Vegeta "caring" about Planet Vegeta:

Freeza destroying the planet was an insult to Vegeta and his pride. Whether or not he cared about the physical space itself or the people who inhabited it, that was what upset him the most.

Anyway, doesn't Vegeta's dying speech where he begs Goku to defeat Freeza pretty much put the lie to the idea that he doesn't actually care about his people or home planet, regardless of his earlier claims not to? In the Bardock special he seems unmoved when he gets the news that his planet and race are gone, but there he's only told it was due to a meteor impact, a natural disaster where nobody's to blame. He might have had a very different reaction if he had been told then that Freeza was the true culprit.

Heck, even if we go with the idea that Vegeta has no emotional investment in his planet, it'd still be perfectly logical for him to not want to team up with the guy who blew it up. I mean, he's a Saiyan, so why should he want to go back to working for the guy who killed all the other Saiyans? That's obviously not going to end well.

(Oh yeah, remember the meteor impact? We're told categorically that Planet Vegeta was wiped up by some meteor, and then a year or so later Toriyama switches it around so that actually Freeza's to blame. He covers pretty well with the whole "the meteor impact was just a cover story" idea, but still, why are fans surprised when random dialogue from the new movie doesn't gel 100% with random dialogue from material made 20+ years ago?)

BOG did well and they still tried to listen to the criticism about it. Furthermore, as I said: TOEI has always had a tendency to either reduce or eliminate any money and effort going into franchises when they start significantly declining.

Honestly? Worst situation (the one you're presenting) is that they won't listen either way.
