GT versus the new movies

GT gets a lot of hate but it's fights were often pretty intense. 0:19 lol ouch.

Baby: "if you raise you power high enough to defeat me you'll destroy your Saiyan friend's son"

Vegeta: "and what makes you think I have a problem with that?"

Does Vegeta even say that line in the original?
Also GT was lackluster to me and with Dragon Ball Super, my forum name never was more fitting; dbgtFO stands for dragonballgtF***Off afterall :P

Still Battle of Gods wasn't that good either, but RoF might just be. Can't wait to see it to find out.

As do I. I loved BOG and am sure I'll have a great time with FnF. I can barely make it through the first 16 episodes of GT to even get to the semi-decent stuff.

I'm not really a fan of titleing threads like this. It's not exactly inviting open discussion. It turns the whole thing into a Side A vs Side B debate right off the bat.

GT committed one of the biggest crimes a series can do: It was boring.

FUNi skipping the initial episodes was probably the best decision they ever made in deviating from what Japan did. I just...could not care about the series after that meandering, boring opening. Which is sad, as I love Dragon Ball.

Battle of Gods though? I loved it from beginning to end. It just worked so well, and was fun.

GT is not better than this new movies. Hell, GT isn't even better than some fillers.

Overall? No. Too much was done wrong. Far too much. However, I would agree that the best parts of GT are better than the movies.

Partially.

There are some movies which make the impossible to be worse than Dragon Ball GT (though there are three movies which easily are worse than the anime, actually these three movies are worse than even some fanfictions), others, however, are in the same level, and just a few of them are better than GT.

GT is not better than the movies IMO. The new movies were a breath of fresh air and actually had interesting characters like Beerus and Whis. GT was a series trying to copy the best aspects of Dragon Ball/Z but failed terribly, while the movies are trying to be a little different at least.
Heroes come and go, but legends are forever.

60.

Rest in peace.

Revival Of F's plot is garbage. GT had the same problem. Blue super saiyan is garbage, too. The music of GT alone defeat anything from the new movie
Now everyone gets to the new series

The new movies provided something unique and fresh to the franchise, while retaining its roots. GT had good concepts but shitty execution. And as Mewzard stated, the biggest sin the show committed was that it was boring. And Dragon Ball should never be boring.

There are parts of GT that are better than things in the movies and vice versa. I still think the movies are superior, though.

I haven't watched Revival of Frieza yet, but I did watch BoG.

DBGT had two major problems; it was either creatively bankrupt, or lazily done. They didn't know what they wanted it to be, and whenever they did something, it wasn't realized well. We go from light hearted Dragon Ball planet hopping (with none of the original charm of Dragon Ball) to faux DBZ action (with none of the explosives of DBZ action. They just did basic small ki blasts). Baby and the overuse of dragonballs concept were cool, but both kind of fizzled out and were wasted.

I don't feel like going in depth right now, but that scratches the surface of things. Basically, GT felt useless; it didn't do anything worthwhile.

Same. I have yet to be impressed with anything recent and the acceptance of Super Saiyan God....*sigh*....Super Saiyan is very odd to me.

Feels like an elaborate trolling just to see how much nonsense the fans base will accept as long as Toriyama is attached to it, then again the series is so off the rails I have no idea what constitutes as nonsense anymore.

I'm going back to sulking now.

I disagree as well. I love the movies a lot! I don't hate GT but I'm not much of a fan of it at all. I like bits and pieces of it.
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128
