Bullza wrote:So then in dollars too

Tuesday - ¥190 million ($1.58 million)

Total - ¥3.14 billion ($26.18 million)

Edit: I think that should be ¥3.04 billion actually.

We won't get actuals until Golden Week is over but it does look like it has probably surpassed Battle of Gods then. So the next goal is for it to pass ¥4 billion.

It has one last day of Golden Week left then it'll drop like a rock. No idea if it'll reach its goal or not.
I think the best RF will do for the remaining weeks will be for it to reach ¥3.5 billion. I honestly don't see it reaching ¥4 billion, but you never know with Dragon Ball.

I couldn't really say what it will finish at but I don't think it'll miss out on ¥3.5 billion.

It looks like it'll be making another ¥150 million+ today too. There's going to be some Golden Week estimates which will include some actuals later so we'll be able to see if its done better or worse than estimates suggest.

I'm only updating that with actuals which should be coming in soon now that Golden Week is over.

As far as estimates go there's just this.

"According to Disney, Cinderella (which crosses 500 WW on tuesday) is at 21,6M$ (2,58BY) to date. Today it is easily #1, with its 2nd biggest day at 5 chains, and its 5th day up from OD. Among the big competitors, Conan should be 3,6 DBZ 3,3 and Cindy 2,9."

Does that mean $3.3 million? That would be about ¥392.7 million, but in just one day?

No it's an estimated ¥3.3 billion total but I think he added an extra ¥100 million by mistake.

Not that it matters as we have actuals as of May 6th the end of Golden Week.

DBZ - ¥3.113 billion ($26.13 billion)

Admissions - 2.36 million

https://mobile.twitter.com/moviewalker_ ... 2436575232

So it has officially surpassed Battle of Gods now.

Over Golden Week it looks to have done around ¥1.1-1.2 billion so it did do over a billion then in the end.

Re: Resurrection F Box Office - ¥3.1 billion ($27.17 million

Post by Bullza » Thu May 07, 2015 7:35 am

Another set of estimates had it at ¥3.1 billion so it's not really down at all.

Some more info here to compare to Battle of Gods.

It took Resurrection F 19 days to outgross Battle of Gods.

Battle of Gods after 20 days had made around ¥2.3 billion.

Resurrection F sold 2.36 million tickets in 19 days.

Battle of Gods reached 2 million tickets sold in 23 days and 2.35 million tickets sold in 37 days.

The figure in dollars in the thread title will be the worldwide gross and not what the amount in Yen adjusts too.

Damn, some quick math tells me that they need to sell over 900,000 more tickets in order to meet Toei's goal. That sounds like a bit of a long shot.

It does and it looks like it may have only made ¥15-20 million today but it should make more tommorow and then there's another weekend.

A comment from the estimates guy.

"¥4 billion is probably 50/50 for Dragon Ball Z: Revival of F. I would say it's likely but the last film looked good for ¥3 billion, yet it finished with ¥2.99 billion. So I wouldn't be surprised if Toei doesn't push the new film to ¥4 billion, having it finish with ¥3.8/3.9 billion."

Actually, it turns out that I was totally off in my assumption about Japanese ticket prices. I figured they were roughly similar to American prices, but it turns out they're almost twice that. So yeah, they need to sell a little under half a million more tickets, which is a bit more realistic, but still a tall order.

¥3.8/3.9 billion certainly does seem like a realistic target now.

I can't stop laughing when I remember all the fakes fans wishing for this movie to flop, just because its sucks for them. Even though they still didn't see it...

Now let's go for that number 4. The 4 billions!!

Fukkatsu no Hype.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

I'll never understand why fans wanted ROF to flop. The more success that Dragon Ball generates, the more of Dragon Ball we'll get. I always thought that was what fans wanted; more Dragon Ball.

(I don't want any new DB material to flop, either).

It doesn't prevent me from enjoying new content, but I don't want the franchise to be reduced to more of a cash-cow than it already is, either.

The Dragon Ball franchise has always been a cash-cow. It was only until BOG that the franchise really started to truly get a second wind in terms of resurgence in popularity. I think people are just taken aback by how old Dragon Ball is and how it can still remain a household name internationally. I mean, Superman, Batman, Spiderman and X-Men have been cash-cows for several decades but the franchises still churn out excellent products and stories. Why can't Dragon Ball so the same thing? Not all cash-cows are bad.

Despite what has been said about the movie being released May 1 in Hong Kong that appears to be false. It didn't chart on Box Mojo's Hong Kong chart for the week and that's because it is now apparently being released on May 21 instead.
