Vegetto might have not unfused if he existed longer.

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

But why would time be a variable that determines how solid the fusion is?

I think I remember reading somewhere that Shenron has the power to defuse the potaras, so they could easily make a wish to be defused.

Rou Kaioushin knew about the existence of the Dragon Balls, yet still believed that the Potara fusion was permanent when he gave them to Goku, so therefore the Dragon Balls couldn't be used to defuse a Potara fusion.

Do potara fused characters live forever?

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

No, Rou Dai Kaioshin died and gave his life to Goku.

He also said people shouldn't overuse the Dragon Balls so maybe he just didn't want the Dragon Balls to be used to unfuse them.

The Dragon Balls can't change things about people that are much more powerful than its creator. This is implied.

They can't kill people that are much more powerful than its creator. However they can do many things to said people for example revive them.

We can't really say this. Because for him to know whether it were possible to defuse a Potara character it would have had to have been attempted before. Yet we can't possibly claim that it has or hasn't. So his assertion that the fusion is permanent is based only on what we can factually get from the story. But as we saw from the story it is possible to remove a fusion.

The dragon specifically mentions the power of the androids as a reason why he can't change them back to humans. And when he is able to remove their bombs he specifically mentions that he is able to do it because it doesn't really significantly alter them.

If all the dragon was unable to do was kill them, they would just have to wish for Freeza or any other bad guy to be a good guy. Or lose all of his senses. Or have a IQ of 1.

The Dragon can't even teleport people like that against their will and that doesn't alter them in the slightest.

So, the dragon balls wouldn't be able to change Vegetto, aka defuse him.

Exactly this. Shenron can't touch individuals stronger than his creator.

Porunga teleported Vegeta from Namek to Earth against his will. I think it's only mentioned once that the dragon shouldn't be able to do that, so it's 1 case vs another. Can't say how it is either way.

That's true but that's just an inconsistency since not long after that the Dragon can't teleport Goku. It doesn't negate the point I was making, I believe.

Maybe deep down Vegeta did want to get teleported to Earth.

Well, Vegeta only tries to attack Freeza in the anime. Manga Vegeta could have just been neutral enough to go with it.

I assume the Dragon can just tell who is willing and who isn't.

Also, I think if Vegetto consents, the Dragon could split him.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

Probably with Vegetto consensus, this could happen.
Not sure if Shenron magic is as strong as Potara magic, though.

I thought Shenron was simply respecting Goku's wishes to not be teleported back?
