Shouldn't Saiyans be Breatherians?
Think about it if they have that much chi flowing through them shouldn't they have been evolved enough to never need to eat or drink
Re: Shouldn't Saiyans be Breatherians?
They have to generate Ki from something. Just like how Superman can generate power from the Sun. It is fine for Superman to be like that. But Saiyan's don't have a source to generate energy and Ki.SaiyajinPrince wrote:Think about it if they have that much chi flowing through them shouldn't they have been evolved enough to never need to eat or drink

...huh? What in the world leads you to think that having a high level of ki means you don't need to eat or drink??

Ki is not an external power source to draw upon, like the sun is to Superman. It comes from within one's own body. If anything, people who generate that much power should have to eat a lot more. ALL the Z-warriors should scarf like Goku.

Ki comes from the spirit as much as from the body. It's erroneous to think of it as a physical thing, it's much more of a metaphysical thing.Zillamon51 wrote:Ki is not an external power source to draw upon, like the sun is to Superman. Toriyama himself said that Ki has both a spiritual and physical aspect to it so metaphysical would be right in this regard I would think.Zillamon51 wrote:It's a fake thing so who knows / cares how it works.rereboy wrote:Ki comes from the spirit as much as from the body. Ki is shown to be a physical energy in Dragon Ball. Using it up uses up stamina and needs to be replenished with food and rest. Freeza doesn't require oxygen because of his unique biology, not his massive Ki supply.

Re: Shouldn't Saiyans be Breatherians?
As said previously, Ki is more than just physical energy. Ki also sums up the spiritual energy within characters. Toriyama has said as much.DanielSSJ wrote:Ki is shown to be a physical energy in Dragon Ball. Using it up uses up stamina and needs to be replenished with food and rest. In battle, the most important thing is the size of your ki, and your control over it. Ki as a concept of course includes such spiritual powers as energy [genki], courage [yūki], and right-mindedness [shōki]11. No matter how much you train, there are limits to physical strength, and the only way to overcome that is through ki. I think Goku was able to approach the mightiest warriors in the universe through strengthening his ki.
