I recall in the past that some anime movies have had limited runs with options for both subbed and dubbed screenings. The live action Death Note movies, for example, had subbed screenings on certain days and dubbed screenings on other days. So there is some precedent for two different versions being screened.Theophrastus wrote:I imagine having concurrent dubbed and subtitled runs would be deemed too confusing for the average movie-goer. Subtitles are relatively niche, and they probably don't want to have a situation where someone who doesn't necessarily know the difference accidentally walks into a "subtitled" area expecting an English version with captions and then getting pissed off because the characters are speaking a different language.
I would personally love it if they had both. I'd like to see it subbed first, then check out the dubbed version with some friends (because I think among people I would go with in real life, only one of them would prefer the subbed version
