What if Goku used Shunkan Idou/Instant Transmission on 18?

So, he used his Shunkan Idou technique to rescue Tenshinhan and Piccolo. But just a moment earlier, 18 and 16 were there with them on the same island. Why didn't Goku just, say, use his SI to teleport next to Ten while he was doing his Shin Kikoho and then fly down and teleport the two Androids away, come back, do the same to Ten and Piccolo, and leave Cell in the dust?

What do you think would have happened if he had done just that? What would the result be? I mean, Vegeta and Trunks came out of the time chamber pretty quickly afterwards, so it wouldn't be like they would have to let Cell run around for very long anyway before they went to confront him.

Eighteen and Sixteen were hiding by then. Since Goku can't sense their power, he wouldn't be able to teleport to them. He'd have to spend time trying to find them, and there was no time to do that with Cell around.

Even if he was able to grab #18 when he was on the scene grabbing Piccolo and Ten, it'd arguably lead to an even worse situation. Knowing that Goku took her away, Cell's first priority would be to track her down to places Goku might hide out like Kame House or Capsule Corp. And we already seen what he did to those islands in series while he was on the hunt.

At least in GT he would be able to grab #17 and #18. What Trunks should have done is wipe out #18 with a huge attack really. Screw Vegeta and his "I can take Perfect Cell!" proclamation.

Assuming Goku would be able to successfully take 18 and 16 back to the lookout, Vegeta and Trunks would have most likely dispatched Cell before he was able to cause any considerable damage.

After taking a beating from Vegeta, it's very possible that Cell would try to persuade Vegeta into letting him absorb 18, much like how things turned out originally. If Vegeta agrees to help Cell, things could get really ugly as Trunks would definitely forbid them from going to the lookout. I'm not sure how far Trunks would go in an effort to stop his father from taking Cell to the lookout, but considering how his mother and the others are up there, it seems likely that he would whatever he can to destroy Cell.
