Awesome episode! loved it. Music was epic, along with the placement. Finished roughly 6 minutes into DBZ 286, so next week will most likely tie up the scenes on the Supreme World of the Kais. Again, great episode, and I assume "Let it Burn" will play next week.

During which scene, if I may ask? It seems like too dark a song for when Goku finally finishes Buu.DBZ_Lee wrote:I assume "Let it Burn" will play next week.
Anyway, this is the episode where all the past characters show up, right? Lunch, Upa, Bora, No. 17, and the rest?
Which voice actors did we get?

I believe "Let it Burn" will play as Goku makes his speech about Buu returning as a good guy someday. Yes, this was that episode, but unfortunately, as a dub fan, I'm unable to give you names. Sorry.MagicBox wrote:During which scene, if I may ask?DBZ_Lee wrote:I assume "Let it Burn" will play next week.

Ah, gotcha. It'll be interesting to see how that song would fit that moment.
And that voice actor question wasn't specifically directed toward you, so no worries!

The only new ones listed:MagicBox wrote:Which voice actors did we get?
Shōzō Iizuka as Android 8
Hisao Egawa as Bora
And then the credits just list random "guy" and "woman"

Shōzō Iizuka continuing to reprise his role as Ha-chan makes me happy.
Shigeru Nakahara isn't credited? Odd. I know No. 17 talks here. I don't recall if Lunch says anything in her quick cameo.

He's there, I just didn't mention him because he's in Kai 1.0MagicBox wrote:Shigeru Nakahara isn't credited? Odd. I know No. 17 talks here.
Lunch has no lines, but she giggles. I guess any of the women extras could've done that, though?

That was a great episode. One of the best in my opinion. I guess Let It Burn will play next week. It will probably play during the first 5 minutes of the Genki Dama vs Buu struggle.
Re: Kai Episode 156 (07 June 2015)
Am I the only one quite skeptical/ on edge about how exactly the track may be used and where? Personally without the singing and the guitar I think it might be decent but I just don't know. Maybe I'm completely wrong. That song just doesn't (at least without seeing it) seem like it belongs in Dragon Ball to me. And seeing as how this is the climax.... Yeah I'm a bit concerned.

Not that I feel like it really fits the series at all, but if the song hasn't been used thus far, then Let it Burn feels like a Goku vs. Uub song to me. I don't know why, but it just does.

Does Upa speak? Is Takeshi Kusao still older Upa?

Solid episode, actually. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Next week will be the last 'big moment' we see from this arc. Here's hoping they get at least one moment done well!

It definitely sounded like Kusao, but as usual he's only credited for Trunks.B wrote:Does Upa speak? Is Takeshi Kusao still older Upa?
Still can't believe they brought in Iizuka for #8 (and the mummy?) when his Nappa was replaced. That's so cool.

Re: Kai Episode 156 (07 June 2015)
I understand why people would feel that "Let It Burn" doesn't fit the series, and I agree, it doesn't fit the series overall...but it's not being used as an OP, so it's not meant to fit the series overall. It's meant for a particular moment, and if placed properly, it could fit that particular moment very well. The song has a very dark, almost apocalyptic feel to it, which helps give it a sense of finality, and that's perfect musical material for the final battle of the final arc, in my opinion.
That is, of course, assuming it's placed properly. Kai has sown on several occasions that it's not the best in that regard. To put it lightly.
Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't use it at all in the Japanese version. They took out Masatoshi Ono's other English song ("Fight It Out"), after all, and replaced it with a Japanese song with another singer. I wouldn't be surprised if, for the Japanese cut, they wanted to keep the music strictly in Japanese. Of course, I could be wrong, but I'm betting on us not hearing that song until we get to the equivalent part in the international cut.

A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Using the ''Farewell'' soundtrack as Genkidama's theme was kinda weird. If it had some choir (like the original soundtrack) then it would fit the scene much better. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEVeQ-p_3eA

Indeed. That placement though, very unnerving. And this may just be my opinion, idk how others stand so much on it but personally I like Kuu Zen Zetsu Go waaaayy more than Fight it out.TheBlackPaladin wrote:I understand why people would feel that "Let It Burn" doesn't fit the series, and I agree, it doesn't fit the series overall...but it's not being used as an OP, so it's not meant to fit the series overall. This was announced on Toei's corporate site a month ago, but the date was always ambiguous. Well now, going by this...

That was a great episode. I love how they edited this shot here to make it fit for the 16:9 aspect ratio during the next episode preview:
