I think the new music has went beyond everyone's expectations, wow! I wonder who the new composer is? Thanks for the link!Cold Skin wrote:So they kept 16-bits SNES music style for Super Butoden 2.
Interesting, they avoided a graphics-music clash.
The melodies are new, but the rythm and tone of the tracks were kept as much as possible. It's hard to explain, they're new tracks, but you could still tell which track was meant to replace which track just by listening to it, you could say "this one is the replacement for Cell's theme", "this one is the replacement for Piccolo's theme", etc...

They had to keep 16 bit music because it's just a ROM running in a virtual console application (aka an official emulator)Cold Skin wrote:So they kept 16-bits SNES music style for Super Butoden 2.

This video will show you two random fights (same music), then the player plays a little bit of all tracks available in the Option Menu's sound test, then he starts the story mode to hear those tracks in context until Cell gets destroyed by the "Father-son Kame Hame Ha".

Let me give you the break down here on salesGyt Kaliba wrote:I don't know for sure since I don't follow or crunch numbers, but I find it hard to believe either the PSP or the Vita have outperformed the DS or 3DS, since I have to hunt down games I want for my Sony handhelds half the time, and can just stroll into Wal-mart easily enough to pick up any number of Nintendo handheld games.
DS>PSP>3DS>Vita
The DS sold 154 million units worldwide, about 59 million of that was in the Americas, 33 million in Japan and then the rest of the world makes up the last 61-ish million units.
PSP did 80 million units worldwide, there aren't super solid numbers on the split though, but we know it did around 20 million in both the Americas and Japan.
The 3DS is sitting at 52.06 million worldwide, it has sold 18.6 million in Japan and they just announced today that it has reached 15 million in the Americas, for reference the last number they gave for America was "almost 10.5 million" in November 2013, meaning it sold about 4.5 million units in the past year and a half in the Americas, which is not super great when that point in its lifespan should have been its biggest selling period. Looking at the situation and how sales have not really surpassed what they were just a few years ago it looks like the system will be lucky to hit 60 million units worldwide.
The Vita has sold 3.9 million in Japan and the numbers in the rest of the world and unknown, but we know that they are pretty bad.
PSP games where widely available in most western stores that sold video games because the system was pretty successful, 3DS games are also widely available for the same reason (Just because the 3DS is massively under-performing compared to the DS and under-performing to a much smaller degree compared to the PSP doesn't mean the system is a failure, it can still move some hardware and software and has had a pretty sizable number of big hits.), Vita games are harder to come by because most stores don't stock many(if any) due to poor sales and a general lack of releases, so that would be why you can find 3DS games just fine but not Vita. PSP games aren't really stocked at most western stores anymore because the system has been phased out in this part of the world.
There is no SNES virtual console on 3DS.UpFromTheSkies wrote: They had to keep 16 bit music because it's just a ROM running in a virtual console application (aka an official emulator)

They may not be calling it a virtual console, but that is essentially what it is. It's ruuning a modded copy of the SNES rom

Is there proof of this? Because I would assume it's like the 3D classic games, an actual port.UpFromTheSkies wrote:They may not be calling it a virtual console, but that is essentially what it is. It's ruuning a modded copy of the SNES rom

Re: Opening
The way they storyboarded that first chunk made me half-expect them to throw in some absurd-looking comedic-reaction-face on Gokû during one of the cut-a-ways to him; alas, didn't happen. All I got was "Gokû makes a cutely puzzled reaction face" to the gou game between 20 and 8. I do however always appreciate some "Gokû still rides on Kinto'un sometimes.".
Rest of the opening wasn't anything special; looked more on-model than some of the Xenoverse animation, but still really stiff; though, I'd rather them be spending the serious effort on Super anyway so it's no big deal.

Oh! Also want to mention that while Cell arc Chi-Chi seems out of place next to Buu arc Bulma, I prefer Cell arc Chi-Chi's design to her Buu arc design anyway (and hope that her hairstyle is closer to her EoZ hair in Super).

That's BoZ Chi-Chi not Cell Saga Chi-Chi.Chuquita wrote:Oh! Also want to mention that while Cell arc Chi-Chi seems out of place next to Buu arc Bulma, I prefer Cell arc Chi-Chi's design to her Buu arc design anyway (and hope that her hairstyle is closer to her EoZ hair in Super).
EDIT: I was wrong, she doesn't have the hair.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

Getting an S-Rank is literally impossible even if you complete the objective. Basically in the second adventure mode, no S-Rank..no support unlock.

So, I got my copy of the game from Fedex. I can't play it as I don't have Cubic Ninja yet, but the box is really nice.
I knew I was getting the Discross thing, but I wasn't expecting a Dragon Ball Heroes card. So, that was pretty nice. But, since this game looks fun, I have to hope I can find a cheap copy of Cubic Ninja, because Nintendo is awful and region locked the 3DS.

If you're in the USA, check Game Stop, they usually have used copies and under $20ShadowDude112 wrote:So, I got my copy of the game from Fedex. So, I heard that doing the Cubic Ninja thing locks your 3DS into the region that the game was in. Is that true or is that BS? Just wondering.

The RegionFour Cubic Ninja exploit? It just lets you run any region game and bypasses update checks, it doesn't change your systems region. You can change the system region, but it's far more complicated than that.ShadowDude112 wrote:So, I heard that doing the Cubic Ninja thing locks your 3DS into the region that the game was in. Re: Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butouden (3DS)
Goku & Gohan look the most fun to play as expected, Arc System Works is an awesome company with what they've done with Guilty Gear (and I guess Blazblue); favorite track btw, one of the best I've heard in a DBZ Game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwthiG8yoh8
Tim Duncan is dope and forever.

Famitsu has an interview with Bandai Namco's Masayuki Hirano and ASW's Ryosuke Furuya, the producer and director of the game.
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.

10 minutes until Nintendo's digital presentation. If it's coming westward, it'll likely be announced here.
Edit: OK, NOW we can start worrying about this coming out over here.

From what I'm digging around into, it doesn't look like we're seeing this at E3. Abandon hope all ye who enter here.
Or, just... like... wait until they announce it on their own independent of any other event that would overshadow its announcement. I guess.
