"Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
So does anyone have any ideas of how quickly the story will progress?
Z speed? Kai speed? GT speed?
GT speed is so fast that they cover one Shadow Dragon per episode three times.
On the other hand, Z was so slow that it lasted around 290 episodes where Kai uses around 160.
I'm hoping for a 100-episode (or more) series with Kai speed, because of how much content that would give us. I can't imagine "losing" more than about 20 episodes to filling in the movie gaps before moving on to post-RoF, which will have so much time that maybe even having two story arcs will be possible. Furthermore, if the show gets extended because of popularity, there's always that small sliver of a chance for post-EoZ content...

We still don't have anything that will tell us exactly how fast they are going to go. I guess we will certainly have to wait for at least the 4 first episodes to air to gives us a general idea of what to expect for the pace on the rest of the series.
And yes... I pray to Kami we really get to see EoZ eventually.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
While Z was too slow, I didn't actually mind it that much. Kai, on ther hand, is WAAAY too fast. The fight scenes aren't bad. But the dialogues feel really awkward. One character finishes their rant and the other starts talking RIGHT after with no second rest. It just destroys the tension. I hope Super will be something in between.

The short answer is it's a non-traditional guidebook being released in magazine format. The update on the main site covered it pretty well, and clicking the reference links provided can help with additional details.TheRed259 wrote:What exactly is this?

Maybe this will answer a decent amount of questions we have (about the exact timeline placement and whether this is a retelling or not, etc) with some actual details rather than just confusing blanket statements.

New update from CinemaToday. The new character is named シャンパ, so it is a modified version of champagne, not the first half of the word itself.

Champagne is spelled シャンパン in Japanese. All they did was chop off the last character, as we've been discussing for the last couple days.JulieYBM wrote:New update from CinemaToday. The new character is named シャンパ, so it is a modified version of champagne, not the first half of the word itself.

Well, at least the CinemaToday update does directly identify fat!Beerus as "Champa", since the article describes him as resembling Beerus, and the image caption says he's the one on the right. Of course, we pretty much already had that figured out anyway since the list of new male characters was thin on the ground, but it's nice to get official word (if CinemaToday counts as official).
Oh, and then there's this:
Oh, and then there's this:
主人公・孫悟空が魔人ブウとの壮絶な戦いを終え、平和を取り戻した地球の周辺で星々が消える不思議な現象が発生。新たな脅威を前にした悟空たちの戦いが描かれる。
After peace has returned to Earth following the protagonist Son Goku's titanic battle with Majin Boo, a mysterious phenomenon occurs as nearby planets disappear. Goku and the gang's battle against a new threat is depicted.

Interesting. Now either the planets are literally disappearing or they're just saying they're being blown up... Either way, I think Champa is trying to take Beerus' job or something.Herms wrote:Well, at least the CinemaToday update does directly identify fat!Beerus as "Champa", since the article describes him as resembling Beerus, and the image caption says he's the one on the right. That, or the description IS describing Beerus since we do see him destroy a planet in the first chapter, and he hasn't met Goku yet, making him a "new" threat.Doctor. wrote:Interesting. Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Certainly wouldn't mind that. Like I've already said in this thread, I wouldn't mind if they re-wrote BoG as long as they don't change Beerus' (and Whis') personality. The end result will almost certainly give us some cool moments and can be used to fix some of the mistakes the original had (*cough* fetus *cough*).
Thinking about it, it makes more sense if it's Beerus, yeah.

Either that or BoG is getting retconned and Beerus is destroying planets and Champa comes later.Doctor. wrote:Interesting. I guess we'll find out soon!

Spaaaaace. @u@
If we are going grand touring, I hope they do enough to differentiate it from GT's.
Disappearing planets?
Lol, Detective Vegeta in Space.
All I can do is make light/have fun with it until I have a better idea of what they're doing with this first arc.

Will we get a new tv ad with Kai this week?! Hope so.
They should release two more of those with new scenes.
