If you want to sell a TV series, you generally want to sell it as one continuous, well developed story. Can you imagine how horrible it would be for viewers to finish Kai, jump back to the end of Boo, skip over Battle of Gods, watch some build up to Revival of F, and then skip over that, too?! Including the films in episodic form sounds like a no-go because the the pacing would be all over the place, not to mention the potential loss in sales. You want to ship new products, not rehashed old ones.

You can't begin after Revival of F as that hasn't had a home release. You'd be confusing and turning off a portion of your audience who never got to see the film in theatres. That's far from a smart move.

Simply starting fresh and building up a new narrative based on these pre-established movie elements seems like the smartest move for everyone. Your TV audience is clued in, you're not locked into the writing decisions of 90 minute movies, and you've got a continuous TV series to push for home release.

Without a doubt, it would have been far simpler to begin after the end of the original series, but it seems clear that Toriyama doesn't want to touch that. He's content with his ending, and I think that's absolutely fine. The more I think about it, the more I'm happy that Toei seem to be approaching it from this angle.

Sure, it might suck to see the films that were marketed 'as if the manga were still in serialisation' ousted in place of this, but it's probably for the best.
I agree with all your points. This is the better route to take then trying to jump around the movies like tent poles. I like to think of the movies as visions of what was to come, kind of like Beerus's dream of the Super Saiyan God. It not going to play out exactly as we foresaw it but it is going to happen.

I do like the idea of being able to have them do a better paced version of BOG. And just having a better director at the wheel this time makes it seem like it could be a real treat. I think I'm good with this.

Rewriting the movies into Super makes a lot more sense when you put it that way.

I'll be sad that the new films are being tossed to the wayside if they are really remaking them for the TV audience, but I never had a problem with that option. I do question though, that if we're really starting fresh, what all will be changing? Stuff like whether Super's version of Battle of Gods still take place in AGE 778, or is it being shifted back closer to Buu's defeat on the timeline to make more room for future stories (and for Goten and Trunks to stay kids)?

If they are rewriting BoG I wonder if Goku and Vegeta will become Gods at the same time this time around.
Maybe if Super is really good people will stop complaining about BoG, lol.

So it is confirmed that SUPER will be a retelling story of Battle Of Gods?

There's no official confirmation, no. From the first chapter of the manga, it does appear to be the case, however.

We could very well be wrong. Who knows what Toei is up to! It's all very unclear right now.

Til Champa is fleshed out, he's still Fat Beerus to me. If he really is for some reason an alternate universe Beerus, I'm still gonna call em Fat Beerus.

Vegeta&Piccolo might fight fat Beerus while Goku is fighting Beerus.

The fight between Goku&Beerus might play out differently and take place in a different location.

No it hasn't been confirmed. That's just what people are speculating. I could see them retelling BOG and glossing over it's main fight and plot points with Beerus to get the gist of the story out there while focusing most of its energy on what happens next. Why gloss over? Because you can watch the movie for an in depth version of the events. All they need to hit on is Beerus comes to Bulma's party and upsets everyone and Goku fights him after Vegeta and the rest. You could probably do that in like 2-3 episodes. Then we find out what happened after that and the new character Champagne comes into play which is the real focus of the series. That will lead us into ROF eventually.

He looks more vulgar and like a bully to me. I take it he will probably be Beerus' rival. I don't think he will be an enemy so much as someone stronger then Beerus who is trying to move in on his territory or something and Beerus enlists Goku and the rest for help to defeat him.

He is probably a God of destruction from another universe who thinks Beerus is too soft and in his universe he destroyed Earth.

How does he look "more vulgar"?

Don't think Beerus would ever enlist Goku's help for anything. He's as prideful as the saiyans. But I would love another guy who can humble Beerus, so if Fat Beerus can make a fool out of Beerus, I'd be happy.

Do I need a reason really other then to me he looks like a character that could be more vulgar and crass? The way he is drawn suggest that to me. Just look at his face.

Yeah, for all we know they could purposely be showing and telling us stuff that makes it seem like one thing and then surprise us with something entirely different.

Maybe not. But if he had to he might. Think of Piccolo having to team up with Goku against Radditz.

Maybe Beerus really is at the end of his rope, and Champa is here to replace him or something, although that doesn't really explain the female Whis. :problem:

If they do rewrite/retell BoG, I hope SSG looks like this
