Does Super claim that Goku's SSJ didn't grow stronger?
Having seen the most recent episode, I'm honestly left baffled by some of Beerus' statements. In particular, he seems to be implying that normal Super Saiyan Goku would have had trouble with Frieza...despite this being EoZ SSJ Goku, who should be leagues above the tyrant by now. Is it trying to imply that Goku's Super Saiyan state hasn't increased in power since then?
Cause if so, that pretty much takes a major piss all over the entire Cell Saga.

Yea, it seems so.
Apparently it's difficult to keep some internal consistency in a fighting series. I'm frankly getting tired of this.

Apparently having a PL of 1.3 million is a huge benchmark and Piccolo can't even take out a guy on Zarbon's level (if Shisami was comparable to Piccolo's appropriate strength at this time there would be no reason, in. the. world. for them to revive Freeza) so this shouldn't be a surprising development.
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

I think they're getting things mixed up. In BoG Beerus was referring to base form not SSJ.

Why are we having discussions about specific lines based off fansubs?

I think you shouldn't be completely discrediting them. I've seen three different fansubs that say the same thing.Kamiccolo9 wrote:Why are we having discussions about specific lines based off fansubs?

If they turn out to be credible, by all means, have the discussion after they are verified. But now? All I'm seeing is people freaking out over secondhand information.Doctor. wrote:I think you shouldn't be completely discrediting them. To be fair to Kamiccolo9 here, the subs I watched did substitute the word "why" with the letter "y" at one point...Kamiccolo9 wrote:If they turn out to be credible, by all means, have the discussion after they are verified. Either the fan subs messed it up a lot, which is entirely possible or Beerus mucked up Freeza's maximum power. Maybe he thought Freeza could go Golden already? Then again he did correctly gauge that SSJ2 Goku still had more hidden power to draw out.

According to the incoming RELIABLE subs from Dragon Team, the line from Beerus says this:
"I can understand how you defeated Freeza. But if this is all you've got, defeating Freeza would probably be the best you're capable of."
That doesn't inherently mean anything more than, "in the larger scheme of things Freeza is probably the strongest person you could beat." Because Cell and the Androids were only around for a few weeks and never left Earth (and Beerus wouldn't know about them), and Super Saiyan 1 isn't enough for Goku to beat any form of Majin Boo. That's all. Everyone can un-bunch their lacy underwear.

Didn't Herm's on twitter say Beerus was harsher on Goku by saying it's no way to beat Freeza. Even the Super manga waited for Goku turn ssj2 to say he can beat Freeza.Kamiccolo9 wrote:Why are we having discussions about specific lines based off fansubs?

If Master Roshi defeating Freeza's army and 1.3 million being strong is any indication, everything we thought we knew about power level is null and void. Either accept the new statements or plug your ears whenever the characters start talking about battle powers.
Re: Does Super claim that Goku's SSJ didn't grow stronger?
The fan dub I seen had Beerus stating Goku could defeat Frieza at Ssj but it would have been one hell of a fight. Still, this would mean Goku's Ssj hasn't gotten stronger since since he first achieved it, which sounds a little crazy.

That's just what he said about base Goku. I'll have to re-watch the episode to confirm exactly what he says about Super Saiyan Goku, but I'd trust Dragon Team's translation over any other fansubs/dubs out there, based on their handling of previous episodes.TheGmGoken wrote:Didn't Herm's on twitter say Beerus was harsher on Goku by saying it's no way to beat Freeza.

Re: Does Super claim that Goku's SSJ didn't grow stronger?
I think that since Goku, Freeza, and Beerus are the ones relevant to their discussion, Beerus is basically saying "You can beat Freeza, but not me".Kaboom wrote:According to the incoming RELIABLE subs from Dragon Team, the line from Beerus says this:

James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.
Re: Does Super claim that Goku's SSJ didn't grow stronger?
Maybe he was referring to Freeza's potential like we saw in RoF.Blackstripe wrote:Having seen the most recent episode, I'm honestly left baffled by some of Beerus' statements. Ah just saw Kaboom's post. That solves it.

Re: Does Super claim that Goku's SSJ didn't grow stronger?
I think what their applying was that Goku hasn't trained at all in his base. Or hasn't trained enough to make it any better. He is relying on his super Saiyan transformations. Toriyama once stated that Goku will learn that his base form and ssj are the best forms. Because the later ones take too much energy even though they are immensely more powerful then his base. Yet the energy consumption is too great and the too much of a risk during battle. Especially ssj3. Even if he did master it. It would still take too much energy. So it makes sense that Goku hasn't really improved he rarely trains in his base and focuses more on the super Saiyan transformations.
And yes Beerus doesn't care about anyone unless he knows them. He prob knows of kid Buu. He prob never met darbura and he believes the Kaioshin are prob too peaceful to be enimies.
Like the other guy said as well. He wouldn't have known about cell or the androids. Only frieza as of now was the strongest being he knew not including Kai's and Buu.
