Was SSJ4 Gogeta actually a Super Saiyan God?

SSJ4 Gogeta has red hair, just like Super Saiyan God Goku. What do you think?

(And yes, let's ignore the fact that GT came out before Super was invented, and that GT isn't canon, just food for thought)

Love the fact everyone feels the need to reiterate GTs "non cannones" any time it comes up as if a trained snipers gonna blow their heads off if they don't. Especially on the DBZ Youtube community.

With that mini-rant out of the way, if this is a universe where say BoG (but not RoF because of the whole Bluper Saiyan thing) and GT co-exist, then you could probably make an argument for the hair being a give away for some God Ki being there. Hell, you could probably even use that to explain why their body fur is red when they shrink into SSJ4s from Oozaru.

He doesn't look younger or thinner though, and he doesn't really have the same aura, does he? Red hair is just one of Super Saiyan God's traits.

A fusion does not change the users ki. SSJ4 Gogeta in GT doesn't have god ki. Nor does any character separately.

Beat a God? Yes, he's stronger than Whis.

Also, this God thing wasn't an idea until about 2012/2013 when they were making BoG.

A fun theory (as is one I personally enjoy that has Super Saiyan 3 as a "wrong," near-supernatural way of accessing Super Saiyan 4 power), but obviously the material isn't intended to work with elements invented after it. As Herms pointed out, Gogeta's also missing several telltale elements of the Super Saiyan God form.

More than anything though, Battle of Gods makes it quite clear Super Saiyan God is a mystical transformation that requires a specific ritual to unlock. It is literally a divine entity. Fusion, while perhaps equally magical, is a different thing altogether. Freeza's shown us that normal individuals can reach Super Saiyan God-level power without any mystical elements, so I'd say no -- Gogeta is just really, really strong, as is Super Saiyan 4 in general.

SSG is leaner, and appears more youthful. It also had a completely different tone of red hair(it's almost purple), and red irises as well.

That's actually an interesting theory, and one I wouldn't mind settling on if I had to believe that BoG / FnF and GT belonged in the same continuity.

That said, there's probably zero correlation between SSJ4 Gogeta and SSG.

Hmm... Red hair, and created after the involvement of six total Saiyans (in fact, the same six Saiyans as in BoG) combining their power into ultimately one being (fused Gogeta rather than Goku). Intriguing.

Ultimately, I'd say no. It's superficially similar, but that's it.

Not, really... logically speaking, it'd be a paralogism, so it can't be taken for true. Not unlike saying:

a. A crow is black
b. A blackboard is a black.

Therefore, "a crow is a blackboard because they are both black".

No. He has red hair, but sorta having one feature out of all of SSJG features doesn't really make him a SSJG.
He doesn't have big irises.
He doesn't have Red/magenta irises .
He isn't skinny and youthful looking.
He doesn't have the aura.
He has red hair, but more crimson than SSJG hair.
He's far too furry to be a SSJG.
This Gogeta is just a very powerful SSJ4. Nothing more or nothing less.
