I am.
The big difference between the two is that one is a licensed adaptation, and the other is a cheap korean knockoff made to trick idiotic investors into giving them money to snort cheap cocaine.
Hey, we all need a quick high once in a while, right? XD
Yeah, I kinda think Americans making a live action DBZ is pretty ridiculous.
Both Americans and Koreans.
Stop ripping off!!

During my recent trip to South Korea, in a restaurant a tv was playing and I saw this spikey haired character with a blue dogi, monkey tail and staff... And it wasn't Goku. It was this weird cgi show and it had several villains that had a toriyama inspired drawing style. One enemy looked almost exactly like the dragon boss from Dragon Quest I.

Anyway it bugged me that I knew nothing about this show, I didn't even know a name. I started looking on the internet, but how do you find a show that seemingly only is talked about on the korean side of the internet. After a long and deep search I finally found an image through google's similar images function. Feast your eyes on this:

It's called Magic Hanja (마법천자문)
Apparently it's pretty popular in Korea because there has been another anime, a manga and 2 DS games! :O

If you use the korean name to search you can even find some videoclips. ;)

On a sidenote I used this thread as a starting point and I found some pics from other Dragonball inspired shows:

Flying Superboard:

Somebody referred to him as skater monkey and notice the ndseco pic with the mushroomtrees, car and bazooka. Familiar?

And then there's this little girl Bulma in this one

Most of those are clearly more Journey to the West inspired than specifically DB-inspired, not that there isn't overlap.

Also, you really should have just started a new thread rather than resurrecting a thread from 8 (!) years ago.

I agree the story looks to probably be inspired by journey to the west, but designing the "monkey king" like that clearly isn't a coincidence. He should be an adult monkey with king like oriental clothes, they usually give him sideburns. This is a human kid with a monkey tail, blue dogi, riding a yellow nimbus and a drawing style really similar to the original Goku.

Oh and about the old thread, I figured if it's on topic, why not. It's good to collect all the knowledge in one place right?
